She turned her gaze toward the magnificent bird. “It’s the only remaining ‘Guide’ in the Association, and it claims to be a phoenix.”
“What do you mean, ‘claims’? I am a phoenix! And an undying one at that!”
“No matter what bacteria or virus I get infected with, no matter what incurable disease I catch, no matter how severe the injury or how tragically I die, I can be reborn through nirvana and rise from the flames—that’s me, the undying phoenix!”
