Chapter 125: We don’t talk about...

T/W: brief mention of body insecurity.

Noah’s POV

Morning creeps up on me slowly and it doesn’t feel as dreadful as I expected it to be.

I don’t even know how I managed to fall asleep again, but I guess laying next to Elias ’stiff as a stick’ Deus has its perks.

The sun is streaming into the room through my pink curtains.

I like the way the golden light turns pink, thinking back now, Conan really did spoil me.

While I slept, I dreamt of bits and pieces of my memories. I remember the times after his arrest. I don’t know how he did it, but he visited my room a lot.

He’d asked me about my day and reassured me that everything would be okay.

At that time, I knew him as ’them’, I knew I shouldn’t entertain him, but I also knew I adored him.

I don’t know how or when, but he slowly faded from my memory.

I squeeze my eyes shut to bury all thoughts and memories. I’ll worry about it in the evening.

I guess for now, I can just enjoy lying next to my husband...the husband who is lying as straight as a pole behind me.

I’m tempted to turn around and look at his face, but I don’t. I stay still and breathe his scent in.

He smells really strong and unguarded this morning. If I didn’t know better, I’d think he’s marking this territory and warding off intruders.

The spice in his pheromones is more prominent, and it feels less cold.

’I should look at him...just a peek’ my omega whines and I press my front teeth into the soft skin of my bottom lip.

’It’ll be a reward for all the mess he has been dragging me into’ I tell myself.

I prepare myself mentally to turn, but before I can make the move, Elias moves close to my body and my eyes widen.

The alpha moves even closer, pressing his front to my back, and I force myself to relax. I shouldn’t let him know I’m awake...

He places his hand on my side and my breath stutters. His hand moves downwards and slides under my shirt. He’s touching my bare skin now and I dig my teeth into my lower lip harder.

Goddess...oh goddess.

My skin is suddenly heated as he rucks my shirt upwards.

His fingers run up and down my side. My brain shuts itself down when he moves his hand higher.

I feel the way the tip of his fingers brush over each bone of my rib and I swallow as subtly as I can manage.

I don’t know if it’s his intention or not, but his touch feels so...erotic.

He moves his fingers even higher and just before he reaches my tight nipple, one of my most sensitive parts, he stops his actions completely and I whimper in protest.

"So that’s how you stay skinny" he says.

"W-what?" I ask with annoyance and frustration in my tone.

Why is this man playing with my head? Doesn’t he know that quote that teaches against teasing an omega?

"You eat breakfast only when I force you and you’ve never asked me or anyone for food" Elias says, still running his fingers over my ribcage.

"What does that have to do with anything?" I snap. I’m not bothering to mask the irritation in my tone.

I am very upset right now.

"You have been body checking since you were thirteen. I saw the scribbles of dates and weight on your wardrobe door" he says and the eroticism in his touch evaporates.

Yay Elias, what a great way to wake your husband.

As if bringing back to this house isn’t torture enough, he’s trying to take me back to the past.

Idiot jerk.

I shrug him off, moving away from his touch and sitting on the edge of the bed with a scowl. "I thought today was about happy moments and what I like" I say.

"It is" he says flatly.

He’s lying on his side like he’s still pressed up against me. I like seeing his hair messy like this. He looks his age like this; a handsome twenty-four-year-old psycho.

"Since today is about me, we won’t talk about that" I say, wincing as I say ’that’.

My body insecurity is something that hasn’t even crossed my mind once since I started staying with the Deus.

"That part of my life is our Bruno" I say softly with the realization of the positive effect my enemies have on me.

"Who the fuck is Bruno?" Elias asks aggressively and I blink.

The alpha is suddenly sitting up and looking at me with flashing red eyes.

Wait...he doesn’t know we don’t talk about Bruno?

"Bruno is a character from a cartoon...do you even watch cartoons?" I ask when he doesn’t budge and he shakes his head.

"No? okay, I guess we can watch two or three cartoons today" I murmur, mentally sorting through the library of cartoons and movies in my head.

"We’ll see the movies you watch in secret too?" he asks and I freeze completely as everything flash before my eyes.

The high-pitched, exaggerated moans. The wet squelching. The forbidden storyline.

No.

"NO" I yell a bit too loudly and Elias looks at me weirdly.

"Why not?" he asks and I get up, looking around the room and stretching my arms above my head nervously.

"What a lovely morning, what do we eat? Are you hungry?" I ask in a rush. I’ll do anything to throw him off my scent right now.

"Waffles? Pancakes?" I blabber and Elias tilts his head.

He’s clearly not convinced by my elite acting, but he humors me by stretching his arms above his head and yawning.

"I’ll order something for us" he says.

"Nice...uh...I’ll go shower right now" I say and head for the bathroom door. I hear him chuckle as I shut the door and I let out a soundless scream of embarrassment.

Goddess, that was so close.

It’s not like I’m innocent to Elias anymore, but it’s still a bit embarrassing to share my hidden collection of R-rated movies with him.

I shower and two hours later, I’m having the best day.

I’m well-fed, haven’t left the room for a second, and I’m watching Frozen on my ancient laptop with Elias by my side.

"Are you crying?" Elias asks when I rub the sleeve of my shirt under my eye.

"Just watch the damn cartoon" I hiss at him.

Elias looks at the screen, but it’s clear he doesn’t get why I’m crying. Ugh. When we have kids, will they be robotic like him too?

Woah...what is that thought?

I shake my head to get rid of it. Speaking of children...I haven’t seen or heard from the woman who calls herself my mother since we woke up.

"Elias" I whisper and he turns his head to look at my face instead of responding.

"My mom hasn’t come knocking yet...is she okay?" I ask and he shrugs.

"Elias" I say his name with a warning tone, and he licks his lower lip. "She’s alive" he says grudgingly and I sigh.

"And your brothers? Where are they?" I ask out of curiosity, and he gives me a cryptic smile.

They can do whatever they want; I still get to spend a few more hours with my husband alone.
