Chapter 78: Watering the gold

Elias’s POV

I’m not allowing myself to touch him again till he’s ready. He’s mine but I’ll wait. You can’t touch gold till it’s cool to touch.

Bam!

I walk into the dining room and I announce my arrival by slamming the door shut with more force than needed.

My husband was triggered by my own touch, the same way I was triggered by walking into the basement with my mom that first time.

"What’s got you mad?" Lucas asks, holding back his smile like he did commit a crime some minutes ago.

"Noah is joining us for dinner" I say loudly.

"And so?" Kai asks with irritation. His eyes, bored as always, are looking at me like I’m a mere bother to his existence.

"I don’t expect any of you to upset my husband" I say. Turning my attention to the seat close to the head of the table, I point my index finger at Damien. "Especially you" I add.

"I don’t give a fuck about your husband. Stop flaunting him in my face before I grow interested" Damien hisses without looking up. I give him a low growl to make sure my message is well understood.

"Did he enjoy the song?" Lucas asks, and I move quickly, picking mom’s vase from the table and throwing it at his head.

Lucas wears a shit eating grin as the clear vase shatters. Water spills all over and red roses lie on the floor.

"I did you a favor, and this is how you treat me?" Lucas asks, holding his hands to his chest in mock sadness.

"Shut. Up. We will talk about that later" I say through my teeth, and the door opens behind me. Mom walks in with Dad behind him, and he stops right in front of the broken vase

He lifts his head from the fragments with his lips pressed into a flat line.

"Elias did it" my younger brother, older brother, and bodyguard say in one voice.

Damn it.

"You went from throwing knives to throwing vases at my table, Eli? What did I say about violence in the house affecting my decorations?" Mom asks in a scolding tone and I put my hands behind me.

"I’ll act less impulsive" I say.

With a sigh, Siren claps twice and two maids enter the room to clean up the mess I made. My mother gives me a warning glare as Dad leads him to his seat.

"Boys will be boys, baby" Dad says, kissing my mother’s cheek and Damien groans.

"Alexander, Dad. Say his name, your kids who are the ex-babies are here too" Kai complains and mom tries to hide his smile behind his hand.

He likes being called pet names by my father. Just the same way Noah likes being called Angel.

My angel.

"Let’s eat" Mom says and the table gets busy as everyone starts to eat.

It’s a delicious meal of spaghetti and meatballs. I don’t eat yet. Ten minutes are almost up, and Noah isn’t here yet.

I push my hand into my pocket and pull out the pocket watch. Before I would open it, the door opens and reveals Noah.

Hell.

Has he always been this...beautiful?

His golden hair is unstyled. He’s wearing a cloth of mine. It’s one of my rare and oversized hoodies. He’s wearing my pants too. The pants are too long for him.

Everything is good, but the winning part is that he’s staring at me.

He looks less like the man who had been rotting away in the room some hours ago. He looks like a confident omega who knows himself and knows what he’s worth.

Like I’m being enchanted. I find myself getting out of my chair. Someone wolf whistles, but because this is family, I ignore them.

"Come here" I say, and Noah’s eyes scan the room first.

This omega, the only person I know to have no survival instincts, is scanning the room. Of course, he would do that. He’s stepping into a room of gods, psychopaths, and famous murderers.

I don’t blame him.

The first and last time he ate with the entire Deus family, my father threatened his life.

He takes the first step, and I notice the limp. His ankle still hasn’t healed. It’s either the doctor attending to him needs to die or he has a slow healing rate.

Either which way, someone has to die for it.

"I’m sorry I’m late" Noah says to everyone in that governor’s son voice I hate.

He sounds pristine and refined as he talks to my family. And it irritates me because when with me, he’s simply himself.

Seeing that he still has this false air of being untouchable tells me I haven’t broken him yet.

Noah unmasks for me. But now I know that his unmasking only shows me a few parts of himself while I need more.

I need more of him. I want more. More and some more, till I have completely possessed him.

Cherry blossom boy or not; I need everything he is.

"Elias?" my mom calls, and I drag my eyes off Noah. I got lost in my own head while staring at him.

I never get lost like this.

"His chair" mom says softly, and I pull out Noah’s chair, helping him into it. I promised not to touch him, but I brush my thumb over the knob of his spine at the base of his neck.

He’s skinny.

Too skinny.

He hasn’t been eating well since he came here.

"Thank you" Noah mutters as he settles in the chair and adjusts the hoodie, pulling it up to cover his neck.

He keeps turning me into something I’ve never seen myself as before.

I get up and serve his meal by myself. I fill the plate to its brim and pass it to him. Serving him is nothing special; it’s similar to watering a flower.

Nothing special.

I look at him and he’s looking back at me like I’m growing an extra head on the spot. I jerk my chin in the direction of the food, and he sighs, lifting his fork for the first bite.

"Is it to your liking, Noah?" my dad asks with a smile, and Noah immediately goes rigid by my side.

He has been shot by dad before, but there’s really nothing to fear with Darius Deus. My father is a good man. Deranged. But good nonetheless.

"Yes, Mr Deus" Noah says in that professional tone and Damien scoffs. "Poser" he murmurs, shoving spaghetti into his mouth.

"You’re making me feel old, call me Darius or Da-" dad’s words end as mom interrupts him.

"If you make that daddy joke. I swear to the moon, Darius" mother says and dad lifts his hands in surrender, leaning in to kiss mom’s cheek.

"I’m daddy only to you, my love" he says, forgetting about the rest of us.

A love like theirs...unreal. Unattainable. No one can willingly love a broken man in the way my parents love each other.

Noah is still frozen beside me.

"Darius made the meal himself, and he appreciates it when you compliment it" I hear Lucas whisper to Noah, and Noah’s eyes widen.

"Oh" he whispers, looking at the food like he’s seeing it in a new light.

"The meal is absolutely delicious, Mr Deus" my husband says, sounding less refined and more like himself.

I force myself not to smile. He sounds just like the omega who told me that he likes music made by some neighbors and a type of Atlantic monkey.

"Thank you, Noah. You just did what my ungrateful sons haven’t done in twenty years. You’ve been promoted" my dad says, and I stop forcing my smile back as I grin to myself.

When dad says ’you’ve been promoted’ it means; I’ll kill for you, and I’ll be there for you.

Dinner ends without extra violence. Noah doesn’t say a word and when I can tell he’s tired, I take him back to my room.

I walk behind him without touching him. I keep my hands by my sides to stop myself from holding him as he struggles with climbing the stairs.

Once we’re in our room...my room. Noah sits on the edge of the bed and peers at me through blonde lashes.

"What?" I ask and his Adam’s apple bobs.

"Can you try what you did before?" he asks and I tilt my head.

What I did before?

"Can you s-sit on me and pin me down?" he asks and my jaw drops.

Again, in the way only Noah Goldsmith can do. He has successfully surprised me.

Is he fucking insane?
