Chapter 2: I am ’it’?
Noah’s POV
"I take what I want Damien. I take it and I keep it for my use"
Those are the words that accompany me out of the dark place I have been floating in for goddess knows how long.
My nose twitches as I smell the aftermath of war.
I can smell the wild pheromones of fear in the air, raw and thick. I can also smell smoke and a hint of gasoline.
’What’s going on?’ I ask myself, wincing from the pain splitting my head in two.
My memories are jumbled but one thing is clear...I’m no longer in the dining where they humiliated me.
"You used to be a gentler kid, Elias" the unforgettable mocking voice of Damien Deus says and my omega starts to stir inside of me.
’We need to run’ my omega says and I lift myself carefully, scanning the room to plot my getaway.
"How will kid Elias feel about this?" Damien asks.
"Damien" Elias’s voice says, and even though their voices are coming from outside, I feel the chill coming from him.
Elias Deus sounds like he doesn’t like the part of him that was mentioned.
I turn to my side and a pained gasp slips out my lips. My whole body is hurting. The muscles of my arms are also burning from how I was rough handled.
I look down and realize how dirty I am.
My white suit has been ruined like everything else, and this realization causes tears to fill my eyes.
Winslow can be saved...if I push harder...if I get my phone and call dad’s friend in the navy.
With my heart in my throat, I get out of the bed, and limp for the door. I am trying to be as quiet as possible.
Those monsters are still here.
"You have to go find something else to play with" Damien says.
"I only want that one, give it to me" Elias says the same thing he has been saying since he walked into my home.
’It?’ my omega asks.
It.
The ’it’ they are referring to is me, I am the one they are referring to like an object and a toy.
"He’s pretty, isn’t he? Too bad I found him first...how does it go? Finders’ keeper?" Damien singsongs and I know just how much in trouble I am.
There is no salvation for me. only death...death and chaos.
"Eli...should we tell him we know he’s awake" Damien says and my eyes widen.
I run to block the door with my body, but everything tells me that my attempt is pitiful. They are both trained killers, both of them are equipped to tear nations down.
"G-get away" I shout, forcing the door back with all the energy I have, and it does nothing to stop them.
They don’t even try to push the door. They just stand there, making me feel like they are ring masters waiting for a rebellious animal to calm down.
"The harder he fights the more I want to keep him" Damien says with too much happiness for a man that massacred a whole city in less than two hours.
"I told you he’s mine" Elias’s calmer voice says and it accelerates my heart rate.
’Please, anyone...save me’
"Little gold, little gold, little gold...don’t make me open the door myself" Damien says and I press my back to the door.
It’s my final act of defiance.
My muscles are already threatening to give out and I’m giving up.
"I will never be owned by monsters like you!" I yell and I hear him tsking at me, and at the same time Elias’s scent flares.
How do I know it’s Elias’s scent? I don’t know...
"I see...you want to join your friend, that other mouthy omega" the oldest Deus, Damien says and I yank the door open at the mention of Zane.
Without thinking, I grab his collar in pain and just hold on to him like that.
"What did you do? What did you do to Zane?" I ask the questions with the only strength I have left.
My head is light, my body is weak, my blood is coursing far too fast for my vein to keep it in.
"Hmm...what did I do to Zane..." he says like he’s thinking about it, and the tears I’ve been holding back starts to slide down my face.
"Why?" I cry.
"He’s...fuck, he’s so pretty when he cries, Eli" Damien’s eyes turn a disturbing shade of black and I let go of his collar.
"Please...please..." I whisper, stumbling backwards to get away from him.
I thought I knew how bad this is...but seeing the look in his eyes, it dawns on me that I have no idea how dangerous these people are.
The myths are true.
’The Deus are just men like me and you...but something is deeply wrong with them, each one of them is twisted in their own way’
"Are you giving up already?" Damien asks and my eyes fly to Elias...at least one of them has to have human feelings, right?
Wrong? Elias is staring at me with dead brown eyes.
Beautiful in a cold way. Like he is drawing out my soul in his mind’s map.
He really feels like death. I’m not touching him but I already know that he would feel ice cold under my palm.
My lips part as I draw in a breath of surrender.
None of the two have a bone of compassion in them.
No wonder people say that they are the four horsemen, ’wherever you see two Deus together, say your goodbyes. Everywhere they go ends up looking like the apocalypse’.
"Look at me...I’m begging death to save me" I say out loud with my eyes still fixed on Elias Deus’s eyes.
Why beg death for help when I can just choose it?
Without a word, I turn around and run for the window. I don’t bother to open it as I slam my entire body through the glass.
The noise of glass shattering fills my ears. The sensation of my skin being torn by glass makes me yell in agony, but what I don’t understand is how there’s a warm body under me.
No...I should be bleeding; I should be unconscious...I shouldn’t feel anyone’s heart beat under me.
I look down and my eyes widen as I see the dark blood spreading under Elias’s head.
He jumped with me.
He caught me with his body.
"You" Elias’s strong arms wrap around my waist and press my front to his body.
"You don’t get to die until I say so" he says, eyes glowing with a hint of red as he growls the next words.
"You are mine to possess" he adds and again...I pass out.
