The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

Chapter 279: Child of the Dark Annihilates the Nature Spirit

Chapter 279: Chapter 178: Child of the Dark Annihilates the Nature Spirit

WHOOSH!

As the black qi scattered, more Black Souls, unable to withstand the pressure, perished one after another. The giant black face vanished like smoke, and the aura of the Curse immediately enveloped Kaze Antuun’s entire body.

A deep blackness surfaced on his face—a sign that the Curse Power had wrapped around his body and was about to activate.

The cursed aura was incredibly dense, promising a most vicious Curse.

“You idiot from the Natural Ring Tower! Didn’t your Extraordinary Course instructor teach you? When a low-tier apprentice encounters an Extreme Wizard Apprentice, there’s only one thing to do: run!”

Kaze Antuun’s tone was ice-cold. His terrifying Biological Force Field snapped back, and the black qi shrouding his body grew even denser as Black Spells appeared on his skin.

The next moment, his Extraordinary Spiritual Power fused into his Biological Force Field. Compounded by the diffusion of Particle Energy, an even more terrifying Biological Force Field erupted outwards, seizing control of a hundred-meter area in every direction.

The Curse Power shrouding him, the medium of the curse, and all the various effects of the Curse Witchcraft… they all vanished without a trace!

Wang Ya finally understood the difference between a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice and an Extreme Wizard Apprentice.

The former’s Extraordinary Spiritual Power had transformed to the point where it could influence reality and cause physical destruction.

The latter, however, was powerful in every aspect; it wasn’t just about their Extraordinary Spiritual Power being able to cause physical destruction.

The quality of their individual Particle Energy was also extremely high, and it could be integrated with their Extraordinary Spiritual Power into their Biological Force Field, giving them direct control over all environmental feedback within its range.

If an enemy were inside an Extreme Wizard Apprentice’s Biological Force Field, their five senses—and even their perception of reality itself—could be completely manipulated.

The retina receiving sunlight is feedback. The ear hearing a sound is feedback. Breathing and the sense of touch are also feedback…

The Extreme Wizard Apprentice was a threshold, and becoming an Official Wizard meant crossing it.

Combat at that level was no longer a simple contest of Witchcraft. It required using one’s Biological Force Field to dominate the battlefield, making the division between the strong and the weak even clearer.

From Level 1 Wizard Apprentice to Extreme Wizard Apprentice and finally to Official Wizard, all sorts of Power and techniques were gradually enhanced, ultimately culminating in the Official Wizard stage.

Wang Ya was inwardly amazed. He seemed to have reached a new level of understanding, as if he had just grasped a sliver of comprehension regarding Perfect Balance.

‘But it’s still too shallow.’ The feeling vanished in an instant.

Rilis’s figure reappeared among the distant clouds. Her face was deathly pale and her aura extremely faint. Seven or eight Black Souls were supporting her body as she fled far into the distance.

“In the face of an absolute disparity in Spiritual Power and Particle Energy, all Witchcraft is laughably fragile.”

“And the same goes for trying to escape.”

Kaze Antuun snorted coldly. His robes billowed in the surging winds, his hair whipping about. It was as if the wind and clouds themselves were mere accessories to his presence.

Surrounded by circling sparks and a sweeping wave of pressure, he shot toward Rilis’s position like a meteor.

The two Flying Griffins had long since fled the battlefield. If they had been caught in that terrifying Biological Force Field, they would have been instantly crushed into a bloody mist, not even a bone fragment left behind.

Wang Ya stood on the right-hand Flying Griffin, the Harak on his shoulder preening its feathers with its beak.

“This is your only chance to kill me,” Wang Ya said abruptly. “You won’t have more than ten seconds.”

There was no one around—only the endless Void, the white clouds, the vast sky… and the lingering streaks of sparks in front of them, remnants of the high-pressure friction that had filled a hundred-meter area.

A mocking smile touched his lips. “Rilis of the Spirit of Nature, have you lost even the courage to make a move?”

He opened his palm. On his fair skin, the markings of a Black Spell grew more distinct, as if they were pushing up from beneath his flesh. They writhed, creating an ugly sight.

Logically, since Kaze Antuun had shattered Rilis’s technique, the Curse Power should have weakened significantly or even disappeared.

But the Curse Power contained within the Black Spell on his palm had instead grown three times stronger.

“Then die! Curse Technique—Blood Feud.”

A venomous voice echoed directly in Wang Ya’s mind. The Black Spell on his palm abruptly burst through his skin, transforming into the phantom of a woman. Her form was somewhat similar to a Black Soul, but far more ethereal and illusory.

Wang Ya raised an eyebrow. “The Curse Origin. You’re really willing to part with it.”

A memory surfaced: the time in Celestial Wings Wizard City when he had received the Black Core from the Illusion Body.

That must have been when he was tainted by the Curse Origin on the Black Core.

‘Indeed, one should never underestimate any Wizard.’

The Black Wizard Rilis had her strengths; the seed she had planted was hidden extremely well.

As long as it remained hidden, it couldn’t display any Extraordinary Abilities or listen in on conversations. At most, it could provide vague positional information.

If it had exposed its Extraordinary Ability to monitor and listen, Wang Ya would have discovered it.

This consideration was why Rilis had kept the technique dormant, waiting to spring her trap.

“Is this your trump card? Or are you confident you can kill me with it?” Wang Ya’s tone was still sharp. Kaze Antuun would surely notice something was wrong soon and turn back.

That was why Wang Ya had said Rilis had only one chance, and only ten seconds, to kill him.

Since she still chose to act, this technique was bound to be anything but ordinary.

Crimson firelight flared up around Wang Ya. He raised his left hand and lightly snapped his fingers.

Domain Expansion: Illusion Demon.

A crimson light appeared, filling a seventy-meter radius. The light had a dream-like quality, flowing like ribbons and reflecting arcs of luminescence, creating a magnificent sight.

But beneath the beauty lay absolute danger—an extreme heat capable of melting even Extraordinary Metal into a molten state.

Its standard power level also reached ’38’.

Strangely, however, it still couldn’t disperse the Blood Feud phantom.

It seemed to be targeting the ‘soul’.

His expression under the Black Mask remained unchanged as his Extraordinary Spiritual Power erupted, accompanied by a surge of Dream Power.

Dream Witchcraft: Exorcism.

This time, it was clearly effective. The Blood Feud phantom was instantly dispersed.

‘Something’s not right. That was too easy… She’s here!’

Wang Ya spun around, but he was a step too late. Reflected in his pupils was the savage image of Rilis, her hair a mess. She wore a robe that rippled with dark light and pulsed with intense Extraordinary Fluctuations, looking utterly remarkable.

In her hand was a rusty Cross Longsword, its blade seemingly stained with blood that had not yet dried.

A smile spread across her face, because her Cross Longsword had pierced Wang Ya’s heart.

“Wang Ya Harak, it is your honor to die by this special weapon. From the moment I found it as a mortal, I knew it was special. Anyone it pierces will die, whether they’re a user of Witchcraft, a mere mortal, or even an Extraordinary Creature.”

“It was worth borrowing the Shadow Robe from ‘Master Dark Bat’ to get this opportunity. After I kill you, with the power of this Shadow Robe, not even an Extreme Wizard Apprentice will be able to detect my presence.”

Rilis let out a long breath. She, too, had been under immense pressure.

CRACK!

The Black Mask suddenly cracked, making Rilis freeze for a second. When the mask shattered, revealing an impossibly handsome face—and eyes by a tear-drop mole that were filled with amusement—Rilis’s heart leaped in her chest, and a sense of panic inexplicably seized her.
