Chapter 48 - 48 Trouble(2)
We reached the mansion within minutes but then another problem reared it's head. We had no way to contact Synthia, we couldn't just stroll into the mansion because of the [Holy Territory] and we didn't have her phone number, though I doubt phones are still working in the middle of this apocalypse. No humans were outside either so we couldn't have someone fetch her for us.
"How do we call her?" Alice asked, turning towards me and I shook my head.
"She's normally the one who calls me or I would find her near the gate of the mansion." I replied. We should have probably realized this was gonna be a problem, but I guess since I didn't talk to Synthia often unless she wanted something, we never saw it as an issue. This also made me realize once more that I have been running errands for her, fulfilling her every command like I was her servant or something. My blood boiled at the thought, but I quickly suppressed my rage.
"I have an idea." Alice said meekly
"What is it?" I asked, turning towards her
'If she says I should enter since I have [Holy Resistance] I swear l'll….' I thought
"What if you attacked the barrier." She said before I could finish my train of thought.
"Huh." I said while blinking my eyes. That was unexpected of her.
"It would probably piss Synthia off but this is an emergency so she will forgive us right." She said
"It would piss her off, you say." I said with grin on my face. Then I summoned a huge fireball and threw it at the barrier. It impacted the barrier with a loud bang and then I could see the barrier working to destroy the fireball but I still didn't see Synthia running out to check what was happening.
"Maybe we need something louder." Alice said innocently as she watched the barrier slowly destroy the fireball. My grin widened as I snapped my fingers and the large fireball exploded, spreading over the barrier like a cloud of flames , causing the barrier to shimmer for a moment as it worked to destroy the flames. It didn't get all of the flames however as some sparks fell onto the courtyard, singing the grass and shrubbery before being extinguished.
"What the fuck, Colin?!" Shouted Synthia as she flew out of the mansion. She looked pissed off alright. I could also see more people running out of the mansion with shiny new, golden weapons which I assumed were Holy weapons. They managed catch the disappearing remnants of the explosion and the visage of two demonic creatures floating above the barrier made it quite obvious who the culprits were.
"Sorry. We needed to talk to you and I don't have a way to contact you so." I said while putting on the most innocent face I could muster, but that still looked terrifying on my demonic visage.
"What did you need to talk about so badly that you needed to shoot a fireball at the holy barrier?!" Synthia said angrily and I could see her clutching her sword tightly ready to slice me apart if I gave her a bad reason. Alice must have seen this as well because she immediately distanced herself from me, despite the fact that attacking the barrier was her idea.
"We saw a group of Demons tonight while we were training." I said and I could see the anger drain away from her face quickly, as her face grew pale instead.
"Demons, are you sure?" Synthia asked
"The system said that they were imps and I assumed that they were a demon species based on their appearance." I replied and I heard Synthia sigh while rubbing her temples.
"I didn't think they would reach here too so quickly, damn it." I heard her curse under her breath.
"Here too?" I asked curiously
"It's nothing." Synthia said
"Look Synthia I don't think this is the time to be keeping secrets." I said
"Fine. But we'll have to talk in the morning." She said and started flying back to the mansion.
"Wait a minute. I can't go out in the day!!" Alice shouted
"Then I will find you." Synthia said and went back into the mansion. The humans gave me one last menacing glare, which was more adorable than threatening to me, before marching back into the mansion. Synthia was keeping something important from me, which wasn't surprising, and I hope she would give me the full details tomorrow. Alice and I flew back to our house to get some rest and I have a feeling it's going to be a busy day tomorrow.
