CHAPTER 42: The First Directives of the New Era
(ARC 6: THE EXTINCTION TRUTH & THE GLOBAL RECLAMATION)
The echoes of the Sovereign Mandate still reverberated across the three conquered realms. While the public sat in a state of absolute shock and awe from the global transmission, the work inside the Sterling Central Palace had already begun.
Gabriel stood in the former Imperial War Room, looking at a three-dimensional spatial projection of the planet.
Eighty percent of the landmass glowed a dark, toxic purple—representing the wilderness, rift zones, and dungeon clusters that humanity had been taught to fear for five centuries. The remaining twenty percent formed small, isolated blue pockets where human settlements clung for survival.
Beside Gabriel stood Ethan, Elena, Lord Tyrion, and Lord Harrison.
"Father," Ethan spoke up, resting his hand on the pommel of his linen-wrapped spear. "The global news transmission has disrupted every major merchant guild and regional city council. Half of them are celebrating the fall of the noble houses, but the secondary nobles in the outer provinces are already gathering private armies. They fear losing their land titles."
Gabriel’s expression remained entirely unbothered, his gold-tinted dragon pupils reflecting the glowing planet projection.
"They are clinging to a world that no longer exists," Gabriel said smoothly. "Lord Harrison."
Lord Harrison stepped forward, bowing respectfully. "I am here, Sovereign Lord."
"Issue the First Imperial Reform Directive across all provincial channels immediately," Gabriel commanded.
[THE FIRST IMPERIAL REFORM DIRECTIVES]"And if the secondary noble houses resist?" Lord Harrison asked, a sharp, calculating smile gracing his lips.
- Abolition of Land Aristocracy: All noble land deeds, private taxation rights, and hereditary titles are declared null and void. All territory belongs strictly to the Sterling Empire.
- Establishment of the Meritocratic Council: City Lords will no longer be appointed by bloodline. Every regional sector will be governed by a System-vetted City Lord chosen strictly through martial capability, administrative integrity, and public service.
- The Global Guild Alliance: All independent hunter and mercenary guilds are merged into the official Sterling Imperial Guild, operating directly under the authority of House Sterling.
"Malakor," Gabriel called out softly.
WHOOSH.
Malakor materialized out of the shadow cast by the strategic map, bowing on one knee. "Sovereign Master."
"Take the Shadow Assassin Hall," Gabriel ordered coldly. "Any noble house or faction attempting to stage a rebellion or hoard cultivation resources from the common people... strip their titles and seize their treasuries for the public university fund. Leave no roots behind."
"By your command, My Lord!" Malakor vanished into black mist.
Gabriel turned back to Ethan and Elena. His eyes softened slightly, though his posture remained regal and commanding.
"Ethan, Elena."
"Yes, Dad!" the twins replied in unison.
"The secondary nobles are merely flies," Gabriel said. "Our true target for the next phase is the 80% wilderness. The Vorathians used those dungeon anchors to alter our planet's atmosphere. If we want to raise an entire generation of strong human cultivators, we must purify those rift zones."
Gabriel raised his hand, tapping the spatial projection over the Black-Mist Mountain Pass—a massive Grade-5 rift zone situated between the Central and Northern Realms, currently infested with over fifty high-tier dungeon gates.
"You two will lead the vanguard of the Reclamation Army," Gabriel instructed. "You will take your new dragon-physique power, step into the Black-Mist Pass, and destroy every dungeon anchor at its core. Show the world that the wilderness is no longer humanity's graveyard... but our playground."
Ethan grinned fiercely, clenching his fist as his gold-tempered dragon bones hummed with raw, physical anticipation. "We'll turn the Black-Mist Pass into Sterling territory by next week, Dad!"
Elena’s azure blade hummed softly inside its sheath, her eyes burning with resolute focus. "We won't leave a single dungeon anchor standing."
Gabriel smiled warmly, placing his hands on his children's shoulders.
"Go. Show this world the true strength of House Sterling."
