Invincible: Escape from Viltrum

Chapter 27 26:

Korr, despite the time in this new life, remembered many things, good, bad, boring or entertaining.

But without a doubt all of them were nostalgic.

Among all of them, he remembered one day in particular, when he was more than thirty four years old. He had managed to finish paying the mortgage on his own house, although that night he had also ended up arguing with his then still wife.

That day he wanted to clear his mind, so he decided to take his son to a particular movie. Korr, as a simple fine arts professor, felt fascination for science. but despite that fascination, he recognized that, in effect, he did not have the knack for it and barely understood the articles.

But with the little he understood, he was one of those who considered science fiction as something far too fantastical, although his son differed from his way of thinking.

That day, in the movie theater, in the middle of 2008, that thought about the fantastical nature of science fiction became redundant.

To begin with, the place was full of children and many barely functional adults, but all lovers of comics and the heroes of a gigantic publishing company that was falling into bankruptcy, as he understood later.

His son, enthusiastic, more than an admirer of the shield guy, ranted nonstop talking about a bunch of things, all related to that captain guy. He did not see the signs of his son's inclinations, but they had always been there, in any case, that was another uncomfortable subject to which he never gave the time for reflection.

The lights went out and the great projector appeared in view, beginning the movie, about a trillionaire philanthropist playboy arms magnate who ended up trapped in a terrorist hideout in the middle east. Full of shrapnel in his chest, and destined to be the bomb manufacturer for that particular organization. But instead, he took the enemy materials and locked himself away for some months to create a great armor powered by a micro fusion reactor.

In short, a guy creating battle armors in a cave, with a little metal.

Despite the wonders shown by his son, it seemed even more fascinating to korr to understand that there were serious possibilities that such a creation could be viable, under certain conditions, of course.

That character, considered on earth an impossible intellectual model as the most visionary technological engineer, capable of bringing theoretical physics to life, capable of revolutionizing clean energy, artificial intelligence and metallurgy, defying the laws of known physics, actually was nothing in comparison to everything that was known on viltrum.

¿the reason?

Korr had created his own battle armor by himself, just that simple. In fact, it was the most normal thing he had done in quite some time, taking into account the unreality that his own current life was.

The highest level within human intellectuality was the basics for the viltrumite empire.

Korr, while intelligent, the children of viltrum, not to mention the other races within the empire, also were by a wide margin in comparison to humans.

He had already awakened about 15 terrestrial hours ago, after having culminated his fight against that creature which he had unconsciously murdered during the lapse of his unconsciousness.

Ironically, he was granted permission to do anything during the rest of the day, of course, under the surveillance of vexa-6, who had decided to accompany him at all times ever since.

He was indulged, korr recognized it.

But he only wished to clear his mind. He wished to do many things, he wished to paint more than anything. But there was nothing with which to give free rein to his imagination, so he could only abstain himself to go toward the naval technical supply area of the dorymathos in order to make some techno art.

Yes, he was a barely recognized techno artist in his previous life. He made murals and artistic exhibitions making use of technology to generate emotions in the spectators. He liked making three dimensional constructions through lighting effects, although with time, technology had advanced enough for anyone to be able to buy online any device capable of generating three dimensional images.

However, having wandered through the sea of memories of better days, he tried, managing with great success, to create his own armor, a mark 2, according to the specifications that he saw with the most interest.

So, taking some assembly and design devices, with some robots as support, and vexa as assistant, they spent the hours frolicking in what was considered, was the greatest waste of time according to the words of the instructor subcommander.

Korr's metallic footsteps resonated through the hangar, under the confused gaze of the alien technicians of the area, surprised by the actions of a nato as strange as the batch of his generation had been.

He had already tested propulsion flight, and certainly, it was not what he expected. Covered in metal from head to toe, feeling the rigidity of the limbs, he felt how the exoskeleton barely resisted the pressure that he exerted from time to time.

"shit", he cursed, feeling how, in a wrong movement, the metallurgy from which it was made had simply detached from his body as if it were old ceramic.

Effectively, that technological marvel was nothing more than a cardboard suit for korr, or for any other viltrumite. Move abruptly, and you will break the servomotors that did not even register his movement through the sensors.

"your little toy looks like it's about to start throwing sparks", vexa announced at his side, her smile lifting in a trace of mockery. "what made you think your little suit could survive yourself? It's like being stored inside a shiny coffin. Effectively, it was".

"it was not a waste of time, for god's sake, instructor vexa". Korr interrupted her, not wanting to cast aside that technology which in a world behind, could have been the marvel of the century.

Here, even the miniature reactor that he had managed to create was nothing more than a child's matter in comparison to the empire's technology.

The 7 millennium problems on earth were nothing more than simple equations for viltrum, and its vastness as a galactic power seemed to be even far above any other race in the observable universe within viltrumite astronomy.
