Pokémon: Raising Abandoned Pokémon into Legends

Chapter 388: Eight Gods Gather (Two-in-One)

Sensing the danger, Xerneas decided to strike first. A red beam of light shot from its horns—Aurora Beam. But it wasn’t aimed at Kyurem—it was aimed at the Druddigon and the other Team Flare Pokémon, to clear away the small fry that might interfere with the coming divine battle.

However, what happened next surprised Xerneas. The moment it unleashed Aurora Beam, the attack suddenly veered off course, flying toward the sky on the right.

"What? How is that possible?" Rio frowned. He had never seen an Aurora Beam change direction like that.

"Xerneas, are you joking? After a thousand years of sleep, you can’t even control your own moves? Watch how it’s done!" Kyurem, thinking Xerneas was just clumsy, stepped forward and gathered Ice Beam in its mouth. The freezing beam shot out—but just as it was about to hit the Team Flare Pokémon, the same thing happened. The Ice Beam also swerved to the right and flew off into the sky.

Kyurem was baffled. "Kyurem~!" — What is going on?!

Even Old Ghost, who had been quiet until now, grew curious. It formed a Shadow Ball and threw it at Xerneas—and the same phenomenon occurred. The Shadow Ball changed direction and flew off into the distant sky.

"What’s happening?! Why did my attack just fly away on its own?!" Old Ghost was equally confused, its face full of disbelief.

"Hahahaha! Give up, Xerneas—and you, Kyurem! To ensure the success of this operation to capture Xerneas and Yveltal, Team Flare has prepared thoroughly. We’ve brought the Ultimate Weapon and locked onto the entire Orus Forest region. Any Pokémon move with excessive destructive power will be absorbed and reflected by the Ultimate Weapon!"

The Team Flare executive, who had been intimidated moments ago, now laughed triumphantly. As she spoke, three moves appeared in the sky—the very ones that had been absorbed: Xerneas’s Aurora Beam, Kyurem’s Ice Beam, and Gengar’s Shadow Ball—all reflected back at their users. Caught off guard, Xerneas, Kyurem, and Gengar were hit by their own attacks. However, Gengar reacted quickly, slipping into Kyurem’s shadow, letting Kyurem take the hit. Kyurem was knocked back, and Xerneas let out a cry of pain.

"You, the one pretending to be the Kanto Champion—you’re finished! Today is the day you fall! Your legendary Pokémon are all countered by Team Flare’s Ultimate Weapon. So thank you for delivering Kyurem to us—it will serve as another asset for Team Flare’s conquest of the world!" The Team Flare executive taunted.

Rio smiled at her arrogance. "Don’t mention it—I’m happy to help. But I’m curious—just how many legendary Pokémon attacks can your Ultimate Weapon absorb?"

"What do you mean?" The executive frowned. Though she didn’t know the Weapon’s limit, she wouldn’t show weakness. "As many as you throw at it! Our Ultimate Weapon was built specifically to counter legendaries—no Pokémon can withstand its power!"

"Is that so?" Rio reached into his bag.

"Absolutely! Go ahead and let your Pokémon attack—I guarantee you’ll regret it. With the Ultimate Weapon active, all their power will be absorbed!" The executive grew even more arrogant, grabbing her communicator: "Begin capture operations! Targets: Xerneas, Kyurem, Gengar!"

As she gave the order, a brilliant red beam shot from the northwest, splitting into three nets that flew toward Kyurem, Gengar, and Xerneas.

None of them would stand idly by. Kyurem spat Dragon Breath, Gengar used Dialga’s Roar of Time, and Xerneas gathered Hyper Beam. The three moves launched simultaneously, aiming to tear through the nets—but the same thing happened again. All three attacks swerved and were absorbed.

"Useless! As long as you’re within the Ultimate Weapon’s range, any legendary-level attack will be absorbed!" The executive laughed. As she spoke, the three nets fell on Xerneas, Gengar, and Kyurem.

"This net is draining my power!" Gengar’s voice echoed urgently in Rio’s mind. It fired another Shadow Ball in desperation, but it was immediately absorbed by the red net.

Rio, who had just pulled three stones from his bag, frowned. The Ultimate Weapon was proving far more formidable than he had expected.

"Rio, what do we do now?" Diancie’s voice echoed in his mind.

"This is terrible—Xerneas is about to be captured! It hasn’t given the Princess its Fairy Aura yet!" The Great Elder Dai was frantic, throwing an Earth Power at the net—but it too was absorbed.

"Give up! There’s no escape!" The executive grew bolder.

"Don’t panic." Rio remained calm, calling out to the stones in his hand.

Meanwhile, their confrontation was being observed by a miniature drone.

"Father, this fake Rio doesn’t seem so impressive—he’s been cornered by Team Flare." Milis, the daughter thief, said in surprise.

"Perhaps Team Flare was simply too well-prepared—they can even suppress legendaries." Her father Algates replied. "But if they’re that prepared, they might just take Diancie too. If so, we’ve wasted our time."

Elsewhere, the magician and the masked ninja were also watching from the shadows. They were shocked to see two legendaries and a Gengar trapped by Team Flare’s weapon.

"What should we do? If Xerneas and Kyurem can be captured so easily, Team Flare will surely take Diancie as well." The magician said nervously.

"Wait—Team Flare will slip up eventually. That’s when we’ll take Diancie from them." The ninja said gravely.

Several kilometers away, a massive crater lay barren and desolate, all plant life withered. A squad of Team Flare operatives, led by a green-haired woman, was advancing into the crater.

"What’s this—Akebi’s already starting the Xerneas capture operation?" The woman frowned at the red beam in the sky. "We need to speed up. We can’t let Akebi capture Xerneas before we’ve even awakened Yveltal."

She pulled out two Poké Balls, releasing a Liepard and a Bisharp.

"Liepard, Hyper Beam!" "Bisharp, Air Slash!" She commanded. In the crater lay a blood-red lake, with a stone-like object at its center. The attacks struck the lake, causing it to bubble and boil, shifting from red to black.

"Keep attacking—wake Yveltal from its slumber!" She ordered her subordinates, who released their own Pokémon and joined the assault.

But then, new anomalies appeared. Two dimensional rifts tore open in the sky several kilometers away. A blue-and-white, dragon-like Pokémon emerged from one, and a pink-and-white, dragon-like Pokémon emerged from the other.

"Those are..." The woman’s eyes widened. "Isn’t that Sinnoh’s Time God Dialga and Space God Palkia?! What are they doing here?!"

"Bara, look!" One of her subordinates cried out. The woman turned—the once-bubbling lake had suddenly calmed, and a massive, bug-like creature with a terrifying face burst from the surface.

"Giratina! Sinnoh’s Distortion World God!" The woman’s eyes grew even wider. "What in the world is happening?! Why are all three Sinnoh gods here?!"

As she stared, Giratina fully emerged. The Team Flare Pokémon’s attacks struck it—but Giratina barely noticed. It retaliated with a Dragon Tail that one-shot the operatives’ Pokémon, then flew off without looking back, hurrying toward Dialga and Palkia as if afraid to be late.

"Giratina!!!" — Leave some hits for me!

Giratina roared. After it left, the lake began boiling again, even more violently than before, its color turning pitch black.

Back at Xerneas’s location, the Team Flare executive stared in horror at Dialga and Palkia emerging from the dimensional rifts.

"Dialga and Palkia—how is this possible?!" She murmured in disbelief.

"Think it’s just them? There’s another one on the way." Rio smiled. As he spoke, Giratina’s roar echoed, and it appeared between Dialga and Palkia.

"Giratina!" The executive cried out in shock.

"And there’s more." Rio tossed two more Poké Balls—out came Mewtwo and Charizard. Though their reputations weren’t as legendary as the Sinnoh gods, they were still formidable.

"The Sinnoh gods? So what? As long as the Ultimate Weapon is here, every legendary you summon will be ours to control! In fact, we should thank you for delivering them!" The executive, though nervous, held her ground.

"Let’s see if your Ultimate Weapon can contain all of them." Rio said calmly. He didn’t believe it could. In the original story, though it could suppress Xerneas and Yveltal, it was utterly destroyed by Zygarde’s complete form. That meant its absorption capacity was limited. And here, he had Gengar, Charizard, and Mewtwo, all capable of Mega Evolution—who could surpass even Zygarde in power.

"Zekrom~!"

A roar echoed from above. A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky—Zekrom had arrived. Rio’s smile widened. With Zekrom, Kyurem could fuse and destroy the Ultimate Weapon.

"The Ideal Dragon Zekrom..." The executive’s eye twitched. Though she maintained her facade, she was growing uneasy. Six legendaries stood before her—most people would never see even one in their lifetime. And Team Flare was still working to awaken Yveltal, which would make seven legendaries gathered at Orus Forest.

Xerneas, still trapped by the Ultimate Weapon, stared in disbelief, ignoring Mewtwo and Charizard, its eyes fixed on the Sinnoh gods and Zekrom.

"Alright, everyone—show this Team Flare executive what you’re made of. Let’s see if their Ultimate Weapon can absorb all of your moves!" Rio called out to the assembled legendaries.

At his command, Dialga gathered Roar of Time. Palkia gathered Spacial Rend. Giratina prepared Hyper Beam. Mewtwo charged Psystrike. Charizard gathered golden Sacred Fire. Kyurem gathered Dragon Breath. Zekrom gathered Fusion Bolt. And Gengar gathered Roar of Time.

Eight gods, ready to strike as one.
