Chapter 312: Don't Want Su Zhaozhao to Be Snatched Away
Su Zhaozhao didn’t remember what happened after that.
When she woke up, she found herself tucked in bed, covered by a thick quilt.
Xie Huaizheng was reaching over, pulling her into his arms. His body was like a furnace, keeping Su Zhaozhao from feeling the slightest chill.
She looked up at Xie Huaizheng’s face as he slept, and just as she was about to admire him a little longer, his eyes opened.
His eyes still held a dreamy haze from just waking up, but it quickly vanished without a trace.
“Good morning, hubby,” Su Zhaozhao greeted Xie Huaizheng softly.
Xie Huaizheng lowered his head and kissed her forehead. “Good morning, wifey.”
“Today is a brand new day,” Su Zhaozhao said with a beaming smile as she sat up in bed.
“It is.”
Since Su Zhaozhao was up, Xie Huaizheng sat up with her.
After washing up, they still had to go downstairs to greet the elders and have breakfast.
This kind of post-wedding ritual was essential.
Most importantly, Su Zhaozhao was eager to see her maternal grandparents.
She couldn’t wait to find them.
She changed into the clothes Huang Jiqin had prepared for her: a yellow woolen coat with a matching hat, a long skirt and tights underneath, paired with a pair of boots.
She also had a light gray scarf wrapped around her neck.
Chic and stylish.
She rarely wore such bright, vibrant colors, but things were different now. As a newlywed, she should wear something more festive, and the bright colors looked good on her.
After Su Zhaozhao went downstairs, Xie Wanting saw her and immediately rushed over excitedly, pulling Su Zhaozhao in for a closer look.
“Zhaozhao, you’re so beautiful! How can every outfit look so good on you? That shade of yellow is so hard to pull off, but on you, I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. Seriously, you look better than those celebrities.”
The undisguised praise in Xie Wanting’s eyes made Su Zhaozhao feel a bit shy.
“Sis, you’re beautiful too. Your red coat today makes your skin look even fairer. Did you put on makeup? You look even prettier.”
Xie Wanting was wearing a red coat today that made her look radiant.
She had the vibe of a sophisticated “cool older sister” type, with her hair permed into waves. She looked stunning.
Her style was different from Su Zhaozhao’s, but Su Zhaozhao also found her very beautiful.
“You sweet girl. I didn’t put on any makeup today; it’s probably just the color of the coat. But I’m not as pretty as you.” Xie Wanting was very pleased by Su Zhaozhao’s compliment.
The main reason was that Su Zhaozhao’s praise wasn’t just perfunctory. She looked directly into her eyes as she spoke, and her compliments weren’t empty words—every sentence hit home.
How could Xie Wanting not be happy?
Xie Huaizheng, standing by, couldn’t help but cough. “Alright, Zhaozhao, let’s go. We need to go find your grandparents.”
“Okay,” Su Zhaozhao nodded.
“Go on, go on. If you don’t know the fun places in Beijing, I can take you. I’m really familiar with all the malls, fun amusement facilities, ice rinks, and bowling alleys.”
“No need. I can take her myself,” Xie Huaizheng said.
“You haven’t been back to Beijing for so long. How could you be more familiar with it than me?” Xie Wanting retorted.
“I’ve already asked my friends.”
With that, Xie Huaizheng pulled Su Zhaozhao away.
He didn’t want to bring Xie Wanting along. She was just too noisy.
If she came with them, he wouldn’t be able to stick to Su Zhaozhao’s side.
He wasn’t about to let Xie Wanting be their third wheel.
After the two of them left the Xie Family home, Su Zhaozhao looked at Xie Huaizheng. “Why are you so rude to your sister?”
‘It seems like Xie Huaizheng and Xie Wanting’s relationship is okay? But it’s not the harmonious sibling type. It seems like Xie Huaizheng’s way of interacting with everyone in his family is to butt heads with them.’
“If you also had an older sister who loved to one-up you ever since you were kids, maybe you’d understand,” Xie Huaizheng said with a helpless shrug.
When they were little, he could never win a fight against Xie Wanting. It got a little better after he grew up, but every time Xie Wanting tried to take something from him, his parents would always tell him that since he was a boy, he had to be more generous, forcing him to give his things to her.
Xie Huaizheng was very resentful about this.
So much so that now, seeing Xie Wanting being so warm toward Su Zhaozhao, he subconsciously felt like she was trying to steal Su Zhaozhao away from him.
How could he possibly be willing to let that happen?
Other things he could let slide, but he didn’t want a future where Xie Wanting’s appearance meant she would pull Su Zhaozhao away from him.
Hearing this, Su Zhaozhao felt a little helpless. “Mm, I kind of understand you now. But Sis is already married; she won’t come back that often. And we’re always in West State, so we won’t be back frequently either. I don’t think you need to worry so much.”
‘After all, we’ll probably only see each other once a year, and it definitely won’t be for very long.’
“That’s still not okay,” Xie Huaizheng insisted. “Other things are fine, but I don’t like her monopolizing you.”
“I’m a person, Xie Huaizheng. I’m your wife. We’re the closest people in the world. Why do you make it sound like I’m an object?”
Su Zhaozhao laughed helplessly.
‘Xie Huaizheng’s way of describing things is really strange.’
“Zhaozhao, I’m sorry. Don’t be mad. I just can’t stand you leaving my side.”
Xie Huaizheng realized his mistake and quickly explained himself to Su Zhaozhao.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. Let’s not talk about this anymore. Let’s go find my grandparents.”
They drove to the hotel. Since there was only one car and not enough room for everyone, they decided to take the bus to go sightseeing.
Fortunately, the hotel was located downtown, and the attractions were relatively close together.
When Li Chunhong saw Su Zhaozhao, she immediately grabbed her hand. “Oh, Zhaozhao, I feel like you’re a grown woman now!”
Although Su Zhaozhao and Xie Huaizheng were already married before, they had only registered it at the time.
In their view, if you hadn’t held the wedding banquet, you weren’t truly married.
But last night, after seeing Xie Huaizheng and Su Zhaozhao’s wedding, Li Chunhong felt that *this* was what it meant to be truly married.
“Grandma, I’ve always been a grown-up.”
“So, when are you and Huai Zheng going to have a baby? You two are so good-looking, you can’t let those genes go to waste! It’d be best if you had several!” Li Chunhong said to Su Zhaozhao with a smile.
Su Zhaozhao was a bit exasperated.
“Let’s talk about it in a few years. We’re still young, so we’re not in a hurry.”
‘The wedding was just yesterday, how can she start pressuring us for kids already?’
‘I feel so young!’
‘In my era, you couldn’t even get married at my age.’
