Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 309 - 196: The Counter-espionage Ploy, Mutual Destruction (Part 2)

They were too close. Their speedboat had no way to dodge!

All of the grenades landed on the speedboat!

"Shit, they fight dirty!" Jing Shu cursed, immediately rolling into a corner to try and avoid the blast.

The grenades detonated. Some produced blinding flashes, some created deafening bangs, and others released thick smoke.

For a moment, Jing Shu felt dizzy.

Even as Evolvers, they were still accustomed to using weapons and equipment to win their battles.

The fully-armed James and his men jumped directly onto Jing Shu’s speedboat!

SWOOSH!

A Fireball shot out from the cabin and slammed against their riot shield with a BANG!

The Evolver holding the shield was knocked back a step!

Although the Fireball was blocked, cracks had appeared on the shield!

Seeing this, James’s expression turned grim. "Everyone, be careful! Jing Shu’s Mental Energy is immense!"

The Evolver at the front immediately swapped his damaged shield for a new one from the back.

"Captain, what about the flashbangs and stun grenades we just threw? Did they not have any effect?" a team member asked in a low voice.

James shook his head slightly. "They’re far less effective against Evolvers. The higher an Evolver’s Mental Energy, the weaker the effect."

Meanwhile, Jing Shu was trying to figure a way out of this predicament. His aide, who had long sensed something was amiss, had already hidden in a cramped bathroom. He pulled out his phone and quickly sent a message to Bao Mu.

"Lord Bao Mu, your men have boarded Jing Shu’s speedboat. Can I return to the base now?"

Bao Mu smiled when he saw the message and replied, "Of course. As long as you help our team take care of Jing Shu, you can come back."

"My lord, I’m just a normal person, and Jing Shu is an Evolver!" the aide typed back, his face grim.

"But he trusts you, doesn’t he?" Bao Mu replied. "Complete this test mission, and I’ll put you in charge of Dawn Base!"

The aide knew Bao Mu was likely making an empty promise, but he had already cast his lot with him. He had no other choice.

Besides, siding with Xi’an Base seemed like the right move for now.

At the very least, Xi’an Base had overwhelming firepower.

"Fine. The team outside needs to coordinate with me. I can’t kill Jing Shu on my own, not even with a sneak attack!" the aide replied through gritted teeth.

"Okay, move in three minutes!" Bao Mu replied, and then immediately sent a message to James.

"Our inside man will make his move soon. Seize the opportunity and take down Jing Shu."

"Yes, boss!" James replied. "Should we protect the inside man?"

Bao Mu’s reply was decisive. "No. Eliminate him as well."

"Yes, sir!"

Three minutes passed in a flash. The aide carefully walked out of the bathroom. He picked up the rifle of the subordinate killed by Jing Shu earlier and tiptoed outside.

James and his team, having received Bao Mu’s message, held their positions instead of storming in. They were waiting for the aide to act.

Soon, he spotted the aide and immediately shouted in the Dragon Language, "What are you waiting for? Move now!"

The aide’s blood ran cold when he heard that. ’Couldn’t you at least have waited until after my sneak attack to yell?!’

But he had no way out now. He immediately opened fire, spraying bullets toward Jing Shu’s position.

Hearing James’s shout, Jing Shu immediately rolled to the side, but was still grazed by a bullet!

Simultaneously, James and his men began their assault!

"So it was you!" Jing Shu looked at the aide holding the gun and shooting at him, his fury boundless. His figure blurred, and in an instant, he was behind the aide, grabbing his neck.

’It’s over!’ the aide thought in despair.

"Why did you betray me?" Jing Shu said through gritted teeth.

Before the aide had a chance to speak, James’s team opened fire!

RAT-TAT-TAT!

The aide was instantly riddled with bullets. Jing Shu used his body as a shield and charged toward James’s team!

With this human shield, Jing Shu actually managed to charge into the crowd!

James’s side didn’t dare use their weapons anymore, afraid of hitting their own men. But Jing Shu had no such concerns. He was surrounded by enemies, and he began to recklessly unleash Fireballs while attacking those around him with the dagger in his hand.

However, the team sent to kill him this time were all Evolvers. Though his constitution was excellent, his opponents were no weaker.

When Jing Shu realized this, he knew he was in deep trouble. He might even die here.

’No, I have to escape!’ Jing Shu thought, immediately concentrating his Mental Energy and releasing a ring of fire with all his might!

James and his group hurriedly defended with all their might!

Even the Water-Type Evolvers, whose Attribute was supposed to counter fire, struggled to defend against the ring’s impact. As for the other types, they fared even worse, all receiving burns to varying degrees.

The ring of fire knocked everyone back several steps. Jing Shu seized this opportunity and immediately rushed out of the cabin!

"Stop him!" James shouted in a deep voice.

Everyone immediately raised their weapons and started shooting at Jing Shu!

Jing Shu rushed out of the cabin, closing the door behind him as he leaped toward the Xi’an Base speedboat.

RAT-TAT-TAT!

The cabin door was riddled with bullets, but Jing Shu had already landed on the deck of the other speedboat. He rolled several times, dodging the volley of shots.

His Mental Energy was nearly depleted, and his face was pale.

Jing Shu quickly darted into the speedboat’s cockpit, took out his dagger, and prepared to take the driver hostage to get away!

But the driver snapped his fingers, and a Water Arrow instantly formed and shot toward him.
