Chapter 594: Respect Your Teachers and Elders
Chapter 594: Chapter 592: Respect Your Teachers and Elders
Luo Tian passed the martial assessment in a mere fourteen breaths.
Floating in mid-air, Ye Shuiyun and Master Liu looked astonished!
“Fourteen breaths! That’s impossible!”
Master Liu’s brow furrowed, his expression filled with doubt.
When he had taken this same assessment, he had noticed some of the patterns in the Sword and Saber Forest and was aware of the puppets’ existence. He had ultimately taken twenty breaths to pass and even earned the praise of many senior mentors!
But Luo Tian hadn’t observed or analyzed anything. He just went straight into the assessment and was even ambushed by a puppet at a critical moment!
Yet Luo Tian’s final score was jaw-droppingly fast.
Ye Shuiyun looked at the dismembered puppet, then glanced at the Palm Seal that was several inches deep in the stone stele. A sharp, intimidating aura radiated from it!
Her expression grew solemn.
‘Perhaps I misunderstood Luo Tian.’
‘He wasn’t here to fool around. He’s the real deal.’
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Ye Shuiyun and Master Liu flew down.
“You’ve passed the martial assessment. Now we just need to wait for the results of the academic assessment to determine if you’re qualified to be a Mentor.”
Ye Shuiyun offered a slight smile.
“Got it.”
Luo Tian’s mind was elsewhere.
‘Becoming a Mentor at the Saint Institute was not part of my plan.’
After Luo Tian left, Master Liu snorted coldly. “What’s with that brat’s attitude? He has zero respect for Shuiyun.”
Ye Shuiyun didn’t seem to mind and returned to the mentor qualification office.
“Shuiyun, that young man’s skills are indeed impressive. But this academic assessment requires worldly experience, perspective, and mental fortitude. He probably won’t pass, right?”
Master Liu inquired.
“Perhaps. Master Liu, I’ll have someone arrange your promotion assessment now.”
Ye Shuiyun clearly didn’t want to discuss it further.
…
Luo Tian left the Assessment Institute.
The plaza outside was already filled with young geniuses. They had all arrived early, completed their assessments, and were now waiting for the results.
“Such a young Celestial Pool Realm expert!”
Luo Tian’s arrival drew the attention of many of the youths.
“The three assessments test perseverance, potential, and power! A Celestial Pool Realm expert this young is guaranteed a spot in the Wuji Saint Institute, as long as he isn’t a complete coward or hopelessly weak.”
A man at the First Layer of the Celestial Pool Realm remarked.
“I am Chen Yuan. Might I ask for your name, sir?”
A portly young man approached Luo Tian with a friendly smile, asking cordially.
“Luo Tian.” Luo Tian glanced indifferently at the portly youth.
“Are you from the Luo Family of the Flower Mountain Realm in the West Sea Star Domain?”
The portly youth thought for a moment.
Luo Tian shook his head. He was in no mood to discuss such things.
Seeing that Luo Tian wasn’t responding, the portly young man tactfully took the hint. He didn’t ask any more questions and returned to his own circle.
“Geniuses are all so cold and arrogant,” the portly youth said to his friends. “Judging by the way he disdained even speaking with me, he must be completely confident of passing. He probably thinks I’m not even on his level.”
He was testing for Chuyang Tower; Luo Tian must have been aiming for Zhengyang Palace.
“Brother Luo! We meet again.”
A man in white with a distinguished air walked out of the Assessment Institute.
“Brother Li?”
Luo Tian looked toward Li Qingfeng.
“It’s the White Jade Swordsman, Li Qingfeng!”
“That man is guaranteed to get into the Wuji Saint Institute! With his talent, he even has a chance of entering Jiaoyang Hall within five years!”
Many of the young geniuses gazed at Li Qingfeng with admiration and reverence.
Many of the young women were captivated by Li Qingfeng’s handsome appearance, secretly casting flirtatious glances his way.
“Birds of a feather flock together. He seems to know Li Qingfeng so well; he must be someone extraordinary,” the portly youth said with conviction, giving Luo Tian a long, meaningful look.
Furthermore, from the way they conversed, it was clear that Li Qingfeng was friendly and polite toward Luo Tian!
‘Could it be that Luo Tian is even stronger than Li Qingfeng? Or that his background is even more formidable?’
After that, a succession of young men and women came to strike up conversations with either Luo Tian or Li Qingfeng, hoping to make their acquaintance.
Li Qingfeng was quite approachable.
Luo Tian, however, wasn’t in the mood and gave everyone the cold shoulder.
Instead of being offended, the others were only more convinced that Luo Tian was supremely confident of his success and must possess an extraordinary background.
All the young men and women lamented their failure to befriend such a powerful genius.
“Well, well? If it isn’t Luo Tian from the Broken Ring?”
A youth in purple robes, Li Quan, walked out of the Assessment Institute, his gaze immediately falling upon Luo Tian and Li Qingfeng.
Luo Tian’s eyes turned cold.
Li Qingfeng’s brow furrowed slightly.
“Someone from the Broken Ring?”
“Who is it?”
The crowd looked around, searching for the person Li Quan had mentioned.
‘A country bumpkin from the Broken Ring, trying to take the Wuji Saint Institute’s assessment? How ridiculous.’
“Why so quiet, Luo Tian?”
Li Quan strode up to stand before Luo Tian.
At this, everyone was stunned.
They had all assumed Luo Tian was some mysterious genius with a powerful background.
But it turned out he was just a country bumpkin from the Broken Ring!
“Pah! To think I wasted my time trying to get to know him!” a young man sneered with contempt.
If word got out that he’d tried to befriend someone from the Broken Ring, his friends would never let him live it down.
“Damn it, that bastard tricked me!”
The portly youth also felt deceived and grew furious, wanting to go and make trouble for Luo Tian.
But then he remembered that Luo Tian’s Cultivation was higher than his.
The attitudes of the surrounding young geniuses toward Luo Tian changed drastically, turning to disgust, anger, and contempt!
‘Some piece of trash, acting all high and mighty and giving us the cold shoulder.’
“Heh heh, Brother Luo seems to be in a bad mood. I guess the assessment didn’t go so well for you, huh?”
Li Quan sneered.
He already knew that Luo Tian had been duped by the cold-faced man into taking the Mentor assessment!
The Mentor assessment and the student assessment were completely different.
The Mentor assessment was extremely difficult, requiring a broad perspective, worldly experience, and extensive knowledge.
The Wuji Saint Institute was especially strict about this, to prevent incompetent Mentors from leading students astray.
‘No doubt about it,’ Li Quan thought. ‘Luo Tian must have failed, wasting his assessment qualification and losing his chance to enter the Wuji Saint Institute.’
“Get lost!”
Luo Tian barked, his gaze as sharp and cold as a sword.
Li Quan’s heart trembled, and a chill ran through him.
He had witnessed Luo Tian’s power firsthand.
‘Luo Tian must be on the verge of a breakdown right now. He might do anything in a fit of rage.’
Li Quan gave an awkward laugh and backed away a little.
‘What’s he so smug about?’ Li Quan fumed to himself. ‘I’m definitely getting into the Wuji Saint Institute this time. We’ll see if you still dare to be so arrogant when you see me in the future!’
Li Quan snorted coldly, committing this grudge to memory.
People continued to trickle out of the Assessment Institute.
Mu Qingqing emerged as well.
“Brother Luo, are you alright?” Mu Qingqing asked, extremely worried.
“I’m fine.”
Luo Tian replied with a faint smile.
By dusk, the assessments had concluded.
All the geniuses who had participated in the assessments gathered in the plaza.
These were all geniuses from the Pale Ring, with Cultivation ranging from the Middle Tier Earth Element Realm all the way to the Middle Tier Celestial Pool Realm!
In the Broken Ring, it was rare to see even one Middle Tier Celestial Pool Realm expert under the age of fifty in several hundred years.
But in the Pale Ring, there were many!
A middle-aged, square-jawed man in a white robe walked out from the Assessment Institute, his expression dignified and imposing.
“This concludes the Wuji Saint Institute’s assessment! A total of twenty-seven thousand people participated, and seven hundred and ninety-four have passed!”
The white-robed man announced, his voice booming like a great bell and echoing in all directions!
The blood and qi in Luo Tian’s body roiled. He could sense that this man’s Cultivation was unfathomably deep!
At the same time, he was struck by the harshness of the assessment!
Over twenty thousand participants, and only around eight hundred passed!
“The list of students who have passed the assessment is here!”
The white-robed man’s gaze fell upon a square stone stele to his right.
HUM!
On the jet-black stone stele, names began to materialize in white light.
First to appear were the results for Chuyang Tower.
First Place: Lü Feng!
…
After the results for Chuyang Tower were fully displayed, the results for Zhengyang Palace began to materialize one by one.
“I passed?”
Mu Qingqing was overjoyed.
The elimination rate at the Wuji Saint Institute was so terrifyingly high that many people assumed Mu Qingqing had passed by a stroke of dumb luck.
But Luo Tian didn’t think so.
Luck was part of it, but he believed Mu Qingqing had her own unique strengths.
When he had first met Mu Qingqing, after all, she had been able to discern the extent of his injuries with a single glance.
“I passed!”
The corners of Li Quan’s mouth curled up.
With his Eighth Layer of Cultivation Earth Element Realm, he had successfully gained entry into Chuyang Tower!
Li Quan scanned the stele again. Just as he’d expected, Luo Tian’s name wasn’t on it!
“Where’s my name? My name isn’t on the list!”
The cold-faced man’s expression stiffened, his gaze turning vacant.
He had actually failed the assessment!
The cold-faced man was devastated, his face filled with resentment!
He glanced at the list again and saw that Luo Tian’s name was also missing.
The thought that even a genius like Luo Tian hadn’t been able to enter the Wuji Saint Institute made him feel a little bit better.
“Additionally, today we have one newly minted Junior Tutor.”
The white-robed man smiled faintly and gestured to his left.
There was another stone stele there, upon which were inscribed three large words: “Master Teacher Rankings.”
At the very bottom of the Master Teacher Rankings, in the Junior Tutor section,
HUM!
the two words “Luo Tian” materialized, followed by an assessment score: ninety-six!
Luo Tian was not surprised to have passed the Mentor assessment.
Everyone else present, however, was absolutely stunned!
In an instant, hundreds of pairs of eyes swiveled in unison to stare at Luo Tian!
“He’s… a Mentor?”
The portly youth was incredulous!
It was simply beyond imagination.
Li Quan and the cold-faced youth were equally stunned!
“Brother Luo, you…”
Li Qingfeng’s eyes widened in utter disbelief.
He had also been wondering why Luo Tian hadn’t passed the assessment!
It turned out his ambition hadn’t been Zhengyang Palace, but to become a Mentor at the institute!
Even more unbelievably, Luo Tian had actually passed!
“This is impossible! Senior, there must be a mistake! How could Luo Tian possibly become a Mentor?”
Li Quan shouted, frowning.
Never in the history of the Wuji Saint Institute had there been a Mentor as young as Luo Tian.
After all, the Wuji Saint Institute was notoriously strict in this regard!
The white-robed man who had announced the results hadn’t thought much of it at first.
But he quickly realized that this new Mentor was, in fact, surprisingly young.
“This is the purview of the Mentor Assessment Office. I trust there is no mistake.”
the white-robed man stated firmly.
“There must be a problem! Luo Tian definitely cheated! I implore you, Senior, to investigate this thoroughly!”
Li Quan said, unwilling to concede.
SWISH!
A cold gust of wind blew past, and Luo Tian was suddenly at his side.
SLAP!
The next moment, Li Quan felt a fiery sting on his face as a red palm print appeared on his cheek.
“Luo Tian, you dare hit me in public?”
Li Quan roared in fury!
The Wuji Saint Institute strictly prohibited private fighting, and Luo Tian had just struck someone in front of so many of the Saint Institute’s senior members!
“So what if I hit you? You dare to slander a Mentor? Allow this Mentor to teach you what it means to respect your teachers!”
With that,
SLAP!
Luo Tian slapped him again, leaving Li Quan completely dazed.
He had long found Li Quan to be an eyesore. Now that he had the chance to teach the man a lesson in front of tens of thousands of people, why wouldn’t he enjoy it?
Li Quan was mortified and furious, on the verge of tears.
He was helpless. He couldn’t beat Luo Tian, so all he could do was shut his mouth and accept his humiliation.
“Luo Tian, stop! I won’t question you anymore…”
Li Quan cried out wretchedly.
SLAP!
Luo Tian slapped him again and barked, “How should you be speaking to me? Call me Master Luo!”
“…Yes, Ma… Master Luo!”
Li Quan lowered his head and squeezed the words out through clenched teeth.
