Chapter 51: He has something important to do indeed
"And who are you?"
the oily man asked as he stretched out his neck.
Kathe stepped back to have a perfect view of the person that wanted to stand up for her. She was met with a pure beauty, one that can only be described in a novel. Even the oily man was suddenly excited, seeing how beautiful the young lady was.
The only person that was full of dread was the security guard, who stood at the side with his eyes wide open. He never expected to see her in that situation. He managed to muster up some courage, only to fumble.
"Miss..."
The lady turned to look at the security, nodding at him in acknowledgment. "Hmm," and quickly turned to face the oily-faced man. "What gives you the right to speak to my cousin in such a manner?" She turned to Kathe, giving her a quick wink.
Kathe was about to speak, but seeing the lady wink, she decided to play along by walking close to the lady.
The security found himself sweating badly as he turned to look at Kathe and the lady again. Though they didn’t dress alike, their beauty was unmatched.
"Your cousin?" he managed to murmur out, his face full of shock.
The oily man, seeing that the lady didn’t give him any face, got angry. He walked to the lady’s front, flinging his Silver Card in front of her.
"So what if she’s your cousin? She doesn’t have a pass," he paused as he eyed the lady. Seeing that she was dressed in designer clothes but Kathe wasn’t, he decided to insult her a little.
The security, sensing his action, tried to signal him to stop, but the man was too filled with pride to notice the security’s signal.
He looked at Kathe and sneered. "Or do people in your family treat your relatives badly?"
Instead of replying to the man, she turned her face to Kathe, placing her hand on Kathe’s shoulder. Her expression changed to that of apology.
"I’m sorry for keeping you waiting, dear cousin."
Kathe smiled at her.
"No, cousin. You just arrived on time, so we can say it’s perfect timing."
The lady nodded as she turned her eyes back to the oily man. Her aura turned cold, and as she stared at him, Kathe frowned a little as she found the lady’s aura strangely familiar, but she couldn’t remember where it was.
"And you were flaunting your Silver Card a while ago, right?"
She brought out a Gold Card from her bag, pointing it at the man’s face. The man’s face, that was once filled with pride, was quickly filled with terror as he stared at the card in shock.
He immediately regretted his actions. Who doesn’t know that anyone found with a Gold Card is a prestigious person in society and is also among the shareholders of the restaurant?
He turned his eyes to his companion, his face darkening. If it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t be in such a mess. But the lady didn’t give him the chance to regret his actions as she looked at the security with a meaningful look.
"I don’t need to explain to you. You know what you should do."
He nodded at her.
"Let’s go in."
She tugged on Kathe’s arm as they both walked inside the restaurant.
The security didn’t waste time before throwing the man and his companion out.
All through the process, the lady was filled with shock. She didn’t expect the tables to turn around so soon.
The man turned around to find the lady following him. He immediately flared up in anger.
"Where are you going?"
She retreated back, confused at his sudden outburst.
"Of course I’m going back with you."
Hearing her response, the man immediately vibrated with anger, pointing his finger at her.
"Do you want to come back with me after what you have done? I don’t want to see you again. And for the job, you are not qualified for it."
Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at the man. She had played a lot of tricks to make the man finally notice her and even agree to give her work in his company.
"No, you can’t do this to me!"
She ran after him as she didn’t expect everything to stumble just like that, but the man didn’t even spare her a glance as he drove out without looking back at the woman.
Back inside the restaurant, Kathe turned to the lady with a smile.
"Thank you very much for what you did for me back there. I appreciate it a lot."
"You don’t have to thank me, Kathe."
Her voice was soft as she stared at Kathe with a teasing smile.
Kathe narrowed her eyes at her.
"How do you know my name? I don’t remember telling you."
She put her arm around Kathe, but Kathe quickly moved back, removing the lady’s arm from her shoulder. The lady didn’t even seem to mind her action.
"Of course you didn’t. You don’t have to worry. I’m not a bad person. Your name is safe with me," she said as she winked at Kathe in a playful manner.
Kathe looked at her skeptically. Seeing that Kathe was still staring at her with suspicion, she stopped laughing.
She pulled out her hand toward Kathe for a handshake.
"For a formal introduction, my name is Seline."
Her eyes twinkled with a mischievous grin as she stared at Kathe.
Kathe looked at the hand but didn’t accept the handshake.
"Why did you help me back there?"
Though she didn’t sense any malicious intention from her, she had to ask because lately she seemed to be getting confused with her own life.
Even as Kathe didn’t accept her handshake, she smiled at Kathe in a friendly manner as she replied,
"Of course I’m helping my relative."
Kathe looked back at her as she tried to remember if she knew her, but there was no memory of her.
"Your relative?"
Her voice was low as she asked with caution. She was still afraid of her father finding her location.
"Of course you are my relative. Don’t worry, I have a feeling that we will meet soon. I have an important meeting to attend. I will see you next time."
She said, looking around with a smile.
"Goodbye."
She walked away before Kathe could call her back. She had already disappeared among the crowd.
"Why are strange things always happening to me?" she murmured to herself as she walked to the head table to place an order for their meal.
After a while, Jark walked into the private room that Kathe had reserved for both of them. He was met with Kathe devouring her meal. His eyes darkened.
Kathe, feeling the change in her environment, turned to the door only to find Jark staring at her with his cold eyes.
She quickly rushed to explain.
"Oh, you finally came. I’ve been waiting for you for a while, and my poor stomach couldn’t bear the hunger anymore, so I decided to dig in. It’s just a few bites."
She didn’t know why she explained herself that much.
The icy aura disappeared.
"You could have still waited for me," he said, taking his seat beside her.
"I will next time. I promise. You will enjoy their shrimp."
She filled Jark’s plate with a lot of shrimp. Jark frowned as he stared at his plate with an awkward expression.
Noticing the change in his expression, she stopped her action.
"What is wrong? Don’t you like it?"
He turned his face away as he replied shyly,
"I can’t peel shrimp."
Kathe couldn’t help but chuckle at his childish face.
"Oh, our bossy CEO can’t peel a common shrimp. You know, it’s not bad not to be perfect in everything."
She decided to tease him a little. He quickly returned his face back to a poker face.
They ate their meal in silence.
Jark suddenly remembered something.
"Kathe."
"Hmm," Kathe murmured as her mouth was still filled with food.
"I want to ask you something."
"What’s that?"
"Did you instruct anyone to always remind me of my food schedule?"
His mind drifted back to Rhea’s duties at the office for the past few days.
"No, I didn’t."
Kathe scratched her head as she tried to remember.
"Why did you ask?"
"Nothing. Eat."
His aura changed, seeing that Rhea had deceived him.
Kathe quickly returned her attention back to the food.
After a while, a message entered his phone. He picked it up and checked it.
"I will be back."
Kathe nodded at him as he walked out of the room.
Kathe sat in the private room for a long time, but Jark had still not returned. Just when she stood up to go check on him,
the door opened, and Thompson walked in.
"Where is Jark?" Kathe asked the moment he stepped in.
"He went for something important, so I will be taking you back home now."
"Why did he keep me waiting then?"
Kathe stood up in anger and rushed out of the private room to go find him. She was sure that he had not left the restaurant just yet.
Just as she walked out of the private room, she saw him walking out of the restaurant, and he wasn’t alone. He was with the lady that had helped Kathe earlier, and they were both smiling at each other. At that moment, they looked like the perfect couple in Kathe’s eyes.
Thompson, who was standing beside her, could see the change in her mood.
"Ma’am, she is..."
Before he could explain to Kathe, he was met with her cold glare.
"You don’t have to say anything. Take me back to the mansion. He has something important to do indeed," she said as she turned her face back to the empty entrance.
