Chapter 148: Luna’s Strategy to Get on Her Mother-in-Law’s Good Side.
Luna had made a decision, which was that she was not going to do the same thing as Yume, and that was important, very important.
Yume had researched Emma’s habits, prepared gifts, rehearsed conversations, and ended up showing up at a supermarket almost stalking her future mother-in-law.
Luna considered that method to have been inefficient, also too obvious, and above all, unnecessary.
That was why, when she received the message in the group chat confirming that Yume had already been officially recognized as Noah’s girlfriend, Luna only replied.
[Understood.]
Yume answered almost immediately.
[Now it’s your turn!]
Luna looked at the message for several seconds and then wrote.
[I know.]
Yume replied again.
[Do you already have a plan?]
Luna took little time.
[Yes.]
Aria’s response arrived at once.
[Now I want to know it.]
Iris added.
[Me too.]
Ren wrote.
[Don’t pressure her, girls.]
Yume wrote again.
[I do want to know!]
Luna locked her phone, since she did not need to explain anything.
Her strategy was simple, and it was that she was not going to look for Sarah, nor was she going to appear casually in some place where she normally passed by.
She was simply going to demonstrate that she was a person capable of taking care of Noah, and that should be enough.
After all, one of the main concerns of Noah’s mothers had always been his safety.
Luna knew it, since Noah had told her several times.
She had also seen how Emma and Sarah reacted to any possibility that someone could stalk him or put him in danger.
Therefore, the conclusion was evident.
’If they see that I can protect him, they will trust me.’
Luna was completely convinced, but what she did not expect was that the opportunity would appear without her having to do anything.
Two days later, Noah was working at the café.
It had been a fairly quiet afternoon, since there were not too many customers and that allowed him to move without the usual pressure.
Luna was also working as always, fast, orderly, precise, and she did not waste movements.
Noah was carrying an order toward a table when he saw Luna pass by him with several cups.
"Do you need help?"
"It’s not necessary."
"But there are quite a few."
"I can carry them without problems."
"I see."
Luna continued walking and Noah observed her for an instant.
’She always does everything as if it were simple.’
Then he continued with his work and it was not long before the café door opened.
The bell rang, so Noah turned by reflex and almost dropped the tray, since Sarah had just entered.
Noah’s eyes widened in surprise.
"Mom!?"
Sarah looked at him and then smiled.
"Hi."
Noah walked quickly toward her.
"What are you doing here?"
Sarah raised an eyebrow.
"What a welcome."
"No, I didn’t mean that."
"I came to see your work."
Noah blinked.
"Today?"
"Yes."
"Without warning?"
"If I warned you, you were going to get nervous."
Noah stayed silent and Sarah smiled.
"And from your face, I see I was right."
Noah sighed.
"You could have warned me anyway."
"I wanted to see how you work normally."
Noah felt a bad premonition, not because he was doing something wrong, but because Luna was there, who was the next one who had to present herself as his girlfriend.
’This can’t get more complicated.’
He looked toward Luna, who had already seen Sarah, so both crossed gazes.
Luna remained completely still for half a second and Noah noticed it, but Sarah did not.
After that, Luna continued walking as if nothing and Noah closed his eyes.
’She already recognized her.’
Sarah observed the place.
"It’s nice."
"Yes."
"Bigger than I imagined."
"Not that much."
"Where do I sit?"
Noah raised a hand.
"I can take care of you."
A voice appeared behind him.
"No."
Noah froze, since Luna was there and Sarah looked at her.
Noah turned slowly and Luna was holding a notebook with an expression that was completely serious.
"I’ll take care of her."
Noah looked at her fixedly.
"Why?"
"Because you have other tables."
"Right now I don’t."
"You have two pending orders."
Noah looked toward the tables and it was true, so he looked back at Luna, who did not change expression while Sarah smiled.
"It’s fine, I don’t want to distract you."
Noah opened his mouth, but Luna responded first.
"I’ll handle it."
Sarah nodded.
"Perfect."
Noah stayed still.
’I don’t like this.’
Luna accompanied Sarah to a table and Noah returned to work, but he did not stop looking toward them.
Luna stood next to Sarah.
"Good afternoon."
Sarah smiled.
"Good afternoon."
"Welcome."
"Thank you."
Luna opened the notebook.
"Would you like to see the menu?"
"Yes, please."
Luna placed it in front of her.
"We have coffee, tea, cold drinks, desserts, breakfasts, and light dishes."
Sarah looked at the menu.
"Thank you."
Luna remained there, so Sarah raised her gaze.
"Do you need anything else?"
"No."
"Ah."
Luna continued still, so Sarah looked back at the menu while Noah observed from afar.
’She’s too rigid.’
A customer raised her hand, so Noah went to attend to her and, when he finished, he looked again toward Sarah only to see that Luna was still there.
Sarah finally asked.
"What do you recommend?"
Luna responded immediately.
"The black tea."
"Is it good?"
"Yes."
"Then I’ll take that."
"Anything to eat?"
Sarah reviewed the options.
"Maybe a cake."
Luna pointed to an option.
"This one has less sugar."
Sarah looked at her.
"Are you telling me I should watch my diet?"
Luna stayed still.
"No, I didn’t mean that..."
Sarah began to laugh.
"I’m joking."
Luna lowered her gaze slightly.
"I understand."
Noah brought a hand to his forehead.
’This is going badly.’
Luna noted the order.
"A black tea and a slice of cake."
"Yes."
"Would you like anything else?"
"No, with that I’m fine."
"I’ll bring it to you right away."
Luna left and Noah took the opportunity to approach.
"Luna."
She looked at him.
"What?"
"Don’t be weird."
"I’m not being weird."
"You’re being too formal."
"I’m working."
"Normally you don’t talk like that with the customers."
Luna looked at him fixedly.
"It’s your mother."
"Exactly."
"That’s why I must be more professional."
Noah closed his eyes.
"No."
"No?"
"Act normal."
"I am acting normal."
"Well, it doesn’t seem like it."
Luna did not respond and Noah lowered his voice.
"Does this have to do with the presentation?"
Luna stayed silent and Noah pointed at her.
"That means yes."
"I didn’t say anything."
"But you didn’t deny it."
Luna took the prepared cup.
"I have to work."
"Luna."
She moved away and Noah sighed.
’This definitely has to do with the presentation.’
