Chapter 110: Xenomorph World 9
After doing all this, Perry Yates was about to leave when she suddenly saw something glowing under the ashes of the Xenomorph Black Widow.
Pushing aside the black ashes, a card appeared before her.
A two-star Skill Card: Spit Silk.
Upon use, one could spit strong Spider Silk from their mouth.
Seeing the card’s ability, Perry Yates couldn’t help but picture herself spitting Spider Silk from her mouth. She immediately shook her head in horror. ’The image is too horrifying to even look at.’
She had no use for this card. It was better to leave it for someone else or use it as fusion material.
Just then, Perry Yates heard the sounds of battle in the distance. ’Elara Lynch and the others must have been discovered while on their mission,’ she guessed.
But soon, she realized something was off. ’Why do the shockwaves from the battle up ahead have color?’
Fortunately, she quickly figured out what was happening.
Elara Lynch and her group had indeed been discovered by the Xenomorphs, but the situation wasn’t as bad as she’d imagined. At the same time they were found, several players had fought their way out from inside The Hive.
The Xenomorphs were so focused on chasing the escaping players that they paid no attention to Elara Lynch’s group.
With the addition of these players, the Xenomorphs were quickly put at a disadvantage.
However, the Xenomorphs weren’t so easily killed. Their tough bodies could withstand most attacks.
Even if the players’ abilities could harm the Xenomorphs, the damage was very limited due to their Card Levels.
This led to a situation where the human side, despite dominating the fight, couldn’t inflict fatal damage or kill their opponents.
As for the Xenomorphs, though outmatched, they were unwilling to let the people who had destroyed their nest escape.
Just then, a piercing shriek suddenly echoed from within the nest.
Upon hearing the sound, every Xenomorph shuddered.
Immediately after, the already damaged Hive began to tremble violently. Then, a sharp claw reached out from within, followed by a body.
Soon, a Xenomorph resembling a mantis, but three meters tall and covered in white skin with a metallic sheen, emerged.
Besides its piercing gaze, the most eye-catching features were its pair of enormous, sharp scythes that glinted with a cold light.
One could easily imagine that if those scythes were to strike their bodies, it would be as smooth as a steel knife slicing through tofu.
Just as everyone was at a loss, a blue laser beam suddenly shot out from the distance, blowing the mantis Xenomorph’s head to pieces.
This scene left everyone present completely stunned.
They had expected the fight to end quickly with the appearance of the mantis Xenomorph, but they never imagined it would end this quickly, or in this way.
"What are you waiting for? Attack the remaining Xenomorphs’ necks! That’s their weak spot!"
Perry Yates’s voice rang out from a distance, instantly snapping everyone out of their daze.
The players were the first to react, launching attacks on the remaining Xenomorphs, while Perry Yates took the opportunity to collect the mantis Xenomorph’s body.
"Did you get the Insect Egg?" Perry Yates asked, walking over to Elara Lynch.
Hearing this, Elara Lynch nodded instinctively. "Yes, we got it."
"Then let’s get out of here. It’s too dangerous."
Elara Lynch nodded. "Okay. Who are you people, really?"
The players’ identities had to be kept secret, so after hearing Elara Lynch’s question, Perry Yates thought for a moment and said very seriously, "I can only tell you that, like you, we are all human."
Upon hearing this, Elara Lynch gave Perry Yates a deep look, then nodded. "I understand."
She could tell from the recent battle that these people were incredibly powerful. Most importantly, each of them seemed to possess abilities like the Flame God.
Elara Lynch wanted to have such power too. Perhaps the person in front of her could help her achieve this dream.
After reaching a safe location, Perry Yates began to process the mantis Xenomorph’s corpse.
First were the two large scythes.
Perry Yates tested them. They were incredibly sharp—so sharp they could cut a falling hair.
She pressed a stone lightly against one of the scythes, and it was instantly sliced in two, the cut surface perfectly smooth.
After collecting all the useful materials from the mantis Xenomorph, Perry Yates repeated her earlier trick, burning the rest of the corpse and finding another card among the ashes.
This time, however, it was a one-star card.
Skill Card: Double Blade.
Upon use, the user could grow two sharp blades within their body, which could be drawn out for combat or ejected as projectiles.
’Uh, this...’
’That fighting style sounds painful.’
"Do your powers come from these little cards?"
Elara Lynch had approached at some point, and a glint of excitement flashed in her eyes as she looked at the card in Perry Yates’s hand.
"Yes."
Perry Yates nodded and put the card away.
"Then why don’t you choose to fuse with it?" Elara Lynch asked like a curious child.
"My attributes aren’t compatible, so I can’t fuse with it. Besides, I don’t like this card’s fighting style."
Since she had already been exposed, Perry Yates didn’t bother to hide anything. After all, one lie requires a hundred more to cover it up. It was better to just tell the truth than to worry about being found out later.
"Then... can you give me that card?" A sudden, intense light burst from Elara Lynch’s eyes as she spoke excitedly.
She didn’t mind that it was a card Perry Yates looked down on; she dreamed of having power like the Flame God and fighting Xenomorphs.
Seeing Elara Lynch’s expression, Perry Yates could guess what she was thinking, but...
"Are you sure?"
Elara Lynch nodded emphatically. "I’m sure. I want this card."
"Let me be clear. Even if you fuse with this card, you won’t be like the Flame God. The attributes of the two cards are different."
’And so are the levels,’ she thought.
The card the Flame God fused with was most likely an Advanced Card, three-star or even higher.
Even hearing she couldn’t match the Flame God, Elara Lynch showed no signs of backing down.
"I know. Not everyone can become the Flame God, after all. I’ll be satisfied just to get a little closer to his level."
"Alright then, as long as you don’t regret it," Perry Yates said with a hint of resignation. Then, her tone shifted. "I can give you the card, but what will you give me in exchange?"
She was no philanthropist, ready to hand over a valuable card for free.
Hearing Perry Yates’s words, Elara Lynch hesitated for a moment before reaching up and pulling something from around her neck.
"Is this enough?"
