Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Chapter 347: Carboniferous Period 19

“It’s a pity. Sun Attribute cards are just too rare, and so are Moon Attribute ones. Otherwise…”

“Right now, the only place you could possibly find Sun and Moon Attribute cards is probably The Card Tavern.”

In contrast to Sage Bishop’s dejected sighs, Perry Yates was feeling significantly more relaxed.

‘Sun Attribute… a perfect counter.’

‘Speaking of which, the next time I run into an instance that restricts item cards, I should swap the Spiritual Ability Gun for my poker cards.’

「The seventh day of the game.」

The two were up and moving early in the morning.

The previous night, Perry Yates had already sent the plants in the forest to search for the Dark Slime.

However, since it was afraid of sunlight, it probably wouldn’t be active during the day.

But then again, the difference between day and night didn’t seem that great in this environment.

To ensure they could kill the Executor in one fell swoop later, Perry Yates guided the plants she had released, and they all began growing upward in unison.

Around noon, the two finally arrived at the second location Sage Bishop had mentioned.

“It’s right there. See? That floating snowflake,” Sage Bishop said, pointing to a Six-petaled Frost Flower, seemingly made of ice, hovering in the air not far away.

Perry Yates frowned slightly as she looked at the frost flower. “It looks very ordinary.”

The implication being, it didn’t look like an Advanced Card.

“That’s just on the surface,” Sage Bishop said. “I was fooled by its appearance before, too. But if you get within twenty meters of it, the surrounding scenery changes into an Ice and Snow World, and you get attacked inside.”

As she said this, Sage Bishop subconsciously rubbed her arm. She had clearly been attacked before.

“Really? I’ll go check it out.”

With that, Perry Yates prepared to walk over and take a look.

Of course, she wasn’t about to risk her life recklessly; she activated all her defensive measures to the fullest.

Just as she was about to approach, the space nearby suddenly seemed to ripple. The next second, several people appeared out of thin air, shivering from the cold and covered in wounds.

Upon seeing Perry Yates and Sage Bishop, the group instantly grew wary.

“Are you here for this card, too? I’d advise you to give up on that idea right now. No one but its master can take this card.”

Hearing this, Perry Yates asked, “What happened in there?”

Seemingly sensing that Perry Yates and Sage Bishop meant no harm, the young male player who had spoken said, “I don’t mind sharing some information, but you’ll have to trade something for it. Do you have any food or healing items?”

Perry Yates glanced at their injuries. They looked like they’d been sliced by sharp blades, the wounds covered in severe frostbite.

As severe as their injuries were, they were extremely lucky compared to those who had died inside.

Upon seeing their miserable state, Sage Bishop was incredibly thankful that she hadn’t ventured further and had retreated as soon as she sensed danger.

Perry Yates thought for a moment and tossed two bags of bread over.

The young male player’s eyes showed a flicker of disappointment when he saw it was just food. He had been hoping… ‘Well, whatever. Food is better than nothing.’

He’d been eating tree leaves for days, to the point he felt like he couldn’t even take a proper shit.

The young man tore open a bag of bread and began to eat, completely ignoring his unconscious companion.

“Inside is an Ice and Snow World with a blizzard. There’s nothing else.”

Hearing this, Perry Yates immediately called him out. “You’re lying. If there was nothing in there, how did you get those injuries? Did you inflict them on yourselves?”

The young player shook his head. “Of course not. I said there was nothing because there really was nothing. When we went in, all we saw was a vast, flat snowfield without a single hill. Before we could even react, a violent blizzard kicked up.”

“As for our injuries, we honestly have no idea how we got them.”

“There were more than twenty people who went in with us, but almost all of them ended up dead in there. The only reason we survived is because we were at the back of the group.”

“How did the others die?” Perry Yates asked.

“I’m not sure. Some of them would just be walking and then suddenly drop dead, probably from the cold. The ones who didn’t freeze to death ended up like us, with mysterious wounds and frostbite appearing on their bodies.”

“Also, we weren’t the first group to go in. I saw the bodies of plenty of other players in there, and a lot of dead insects, too.”

“Alright, that’s all I know. If you’re going to go in, you’d better get to it.”

He said it as if he were telling them, ‘If you’re looking to get yourselves killed, hurry up and do it. Don’t waste my time.’

Sage Bishop looked at Perry Yates. Her safety was entirely in this woman’s hands, and it was obvious Perry wasn’t the type to abandon exploration for the sake of caution.

“Let’s go. We’ll go in and take a look.”

‘Of course.’ A rope appeared in Sage Bishop’s hand, and she promptly tied herself to Perry Yates. It made her feel more secure.

Perry Yates didn’t stop her. She knew that once they were inside, Sage Bishop would realize it was unnecessary.

Meanwhile, after watching their figures vanish, the young male player who had spoken to them reached into his pocket and pulled out a card with a healing ability.

After healing his injuries, he turned and finished off the others in his group, took their cards, then found a new hiding spot.

‘Those two were able to casually pull out two bags of bread. They must have plenty of supplies.’

‘If they don’t make it out and die in there, so be it. But if they do come out, they’re bound to be injured. That’s when I’ll show up, and all their supplies will be mine.’

On the other side, once Perry Yates and Sage Bishop stepped within twenty meters of the Six-petaled Frost Flower, the scenery before them transformed from a dense forest into a boundless snowfield.

“It certainly is flat.”

The words had barely left Perry Yates’s lips when a violent blizzard erupted with the force of a hurricane.

“AH!”

Sage Bishop squeezed her eyes shut and cried out instinctively. But after a long moment, she felt no chill. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw a pale blue protective shield surrounding them. On Perry Yates’s shoulder, a thumb-sized Ice Cicada was perched silently, its eyes fixed on the path ahead.

Just then, a Wind Blade slashed against the Cold Moon Guardian’s barrier.
