Chapter 346: Carboniferous Period 18
A hesitant look appeared on Sage Bishop’s face when she heard Perry Yates’s words.
After a long moment, as if she had made up her mind, she looked at Perry Yates seriously and asked, “If I’m willing to offer you sufficient compensation, how confident are you that you can protect me when I have absolutely no way to defend myself?”
“That depends on what you’re offering.” Perry Yates glanced at her, then looked away.
“I can tell you the Executor’s weakness. You probably don’t know this, but our enemy in this game isn’t the environment or those giant bugs. It’s the Executor.”
Hearing Sage Bishop’s words, Perry Yates immediately recalled the images from the fragments of foreknowledge she had seen, as well as the dark shadow from before. ‘Could that have been the Executor?’
Perry Yates looked at Sage Bishop again, her expression turning serious. She wasn’t worried about being deceived. After all, by Sage Bishop’s own admission, she was counting on Perry to protect her until the end of the game.
From the way Sage Bishop was acting, she was clearly preparing to completely replace her cards.
But this was indeed a golden opportunity. After all, once cards were fused, their attributes became permanent.
Not every planet had someone as outrageously skilled as Perry Yates, who could fuse multiple single-attribute cards into a Multi-attribute one, giving players far more options for fusion.
Under normal circumstances, Multi-attribute cards were extremely rare to begin with.
And even when they did appear, they were rarely Advanced Cards.
Perry Yates thought for a moment before holding up three fingers. “A thirty percent chance.”
Sage Bishop was clearly unsatisfied with this answer. A thirty percent chance was far too low for her—it was practically a suicide mission. But she didn’t want to miss this opportunity.
The card she had fused was a very common strength-attribute type.
It was a combat attribute, but also the weakest of them. While it provided a great advantage early on, she found it more and more of a struggle in the later stages, and she was getting injured frequently.
Besides, as a woman, Sage Bishop was quite envious of other players who could control the elements.
This was a rare opportunity, so she wanted to see if she could use it to replace all her internal cards.
The catch, however, was that she had to avoid finding any of her own cards and successfully survive until the game ended.
At first, Sage Bishop had been quite confident. After all, the five items she’d brought were incredibly powerful. As long as she didn’t do anything reckless, she figured surviving thirty days wouldn’t be a problem.
However, her joy was short-lived. One of her items—her only four-star item, called the “Intelligence Collector”—provided a crucial piece of intel: an Executor had infiltrated the game and planned to eliminate all the players on the fifteenth day.
The Executor’s actual target was the Croupier, but he couldn’t be bothered to figure out who was the Croupier and who was just a player, so he decided to just kill everyone to make things simpler.
As a veteran player, Sage Bishop naturally knew what Executors were capable of, which left her deeply conflicted.
On one hand, she had a rare chance to change her cards; on the other, her life was at stake. She had already made her choice, but then Perry Yates had unexpectedly shown up.
This woman was clearly a Croupier.
‘Still, a thirty percent chance is too low.’ She looked at Perry Yates, recalculating in her head, then said, “What if I also provide you with three pieces of useful information every day?”
“Three pieces of useful information? What kind of information are we talking about?” Perry Yates asked, turning her head.
“I can’t be sure of the exact content, but I guarantee it will be useful,” Sage Bishop said with conviction.
Hearing this, Perry Yates considered for a moment, then held up five fingers. “Fifty percent, tops. I can’t go any higher. However, if you can help me find my remaining cards, I’ll have an eighty percent chance of getting you out of here safely.”
After all, there were too many variables in the game. Perry Yates was confident in her own abilities, but with Sage Bishop in tow, things were less certain.
However, if Sage Bishop could help her find Wargod Kai, that would be a different story entirely.
With Wargod Kai’s protection, after all, most attacks wouldn’t even be able to harm Sage Bishop.
“Alright, it’s a deal. I’ll help you look,” Sage Bishop said resolutely.
“So, what attribute are you planning to switch to?” Perry Yates asked, curious.
“Either the Ice Attribute or the Wind Attribute. The Ice Attribute has strong attack power, and the Wind Attribute has an ability called Wind Transformation, which lets you turn your body into wind to evade or attack. It’s incredibly powerful.”
Sage Bishop went on and on about her plans, as if a floodgate had opened.
“The next location is pretty far. We probably won’t make it there today,” Sage Bishop said, looking up at the darkening sky.
“If not today, then tomorrow. We have plenty of time, anyway.” Perry Yates, on the other hand, didn’t seem worried.
She took out the Safe House and led Sage Bishop inside.
“I can’t believe you have an item like this! Why didn’t you use it earlier?”
“There was no need,” Perry Yates said coolly.
Actually, she hadn’t planned on revealing the Safe House in front of Sage Bishop. But then she remembered they would be traveling together from now on, and not wanting to make things harder on herself, Perry decided to prioritize her own comfort.
‘So what if it’s exposed? It’s not like it’ll reveal my identity.’
“You haven’t told me the Executor’s weakness yet. Now’s the time.”
The moment they were inside, Perry Yates turned to Sage Bishop.
At her words, Sage Bishop’s expression instantly grew solemn. She cleared her throat and said seriously, “Executor isn’t a single person, but a group. Each Executor has a different weakness. The one we’re facing this time is a Dark Slime.”
Perry Yates: “…”
Perry Yates blinked, her face a mask of disbelief. She even wondered if she’d misheard, and dug a finger into her ear.
After confirming that she hadn’t misheard, she couldn’t help but blurt out, “A Dark Slime? I thought Executors were supposed to be people.”
“They were once people, just like us. But after they became Executors, they cast aside their humanity. In fact, another name for an Executor is a Dark Dealer.
“They used to be Croupiers, too. They just… lost their way for some unknown reason.”
“So what exactly is this Dark Slime’s weakness?” Perry Yates asked.
“When you think of darkness, the first thing that comes to mind is light. But this particular Executor isn’t afraid of light. It’s afraid of Sun Power. You just have to kill it during the daytime, preferably in a spot with direct sunlight.”
