Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Chapter 500: I Am Her Boyfriend

"How should I know where she is? Besides, she’s my daughter. I’ll do as I please with her. I don’t approve of you two being together. She’s getting married soon, so stay away from her from now on!" Mrs. Scott didn’t like this man at all.

She looked down on men with no money.

"Is she getting married of her own free will? We can absolutely call the police on you for this," Ivy Sherwood said coldly.

Mrs. Scott said, "Go on, call the police. Let’s see if they side with me, her mother, or with you."

"Who do you think you are, daring to cause a scene in my house?"

"I’m Nina Scott’s boyfriend!"

Even Ivy Sherwood was taken aback. If the timing weren’t so bad, she would have given Miles Mercer a big thumbs-up. ’That was so badass, bro!’ she thought.

"Security! Get them out of my house, now!" Mrs. Scott, completely unfazed, went to call for security.

Just then, Nina Scott’s voice came from upstairs. "Let me out! Quick, let me out!"

"What gives you the right to lock me up?! Let me out!"

"That’s Nina!" Ivy Sherwood exclaimed when she heard the voice.

Ivy Sherwood and Miles Mercer started up the stairs together. Mrs. Scott tried to stop them but was completely unable to.

Others came forward to block their path, but Miles Mercer held them back with a single hand.

"Ivy, you go on ahead." Miles Mercer sprang into action, taking on several men by himself.

Seeing that Miles Mercer had them handled, Ivy Sherwood ran straight up the stairs.

Upstairs, Ivy Sherwood pounded on Nina Scott’s door. "Nina, it’s me."

"Ivy!" Nina Scott cried out, overjoyed. She knew Ivy would come for her.

’Those men couldn’t even stop one person. They’re completely useless.’ Mrs. Scott fumed and chased after them upstairs.

Miles Mercer took the opportunity to follow them up and demanded Mrs. Scott open the door.

But Mrs. Scott had no intention of opening it. "My daughter is merely in her own room! You’re already trespassing, so what on earth do you think you’re doing?!"

Ivy Sherwood shot back, "She’s not in there willingly. You locked her up. If you don’t open this door, I could just start a livestream. Let the whole world see what’s going on and judge for themselves whether you’re in the right. I’m not sure if the Scott Family can withstand the pressure from public opinion. After all, I believe the Blackwood Family serves as an excellent example."

At the mention of the Blackwood Family, Mrs. Scott’s expression changed.

That was exactly how the Blackwood Family had been ruined.

’But I’m different from them,’ she thought. ’I haven’t done anything wrong.’

"Are you threatening me?"

"I’m just informing you that what you’re doing constitutes false imprisonment."

"Mom!" Seth Scott appeared, striding up the stairs. His gaze fell on Ivy Sherwood. "What’s going on? How could you lock Nina up?"

Seeing Seth, Mrs. Scott acted as if her savior had arrived. "Seth, you’re back at the perfect time! Look at these people! Not only did they force their way into our home, but they were about to lay hands on me!"

"I only locked her up for her own good! She’s never home, always running wild outside. She’s turned into such an unruly girl, completely disgracing the Scott family name. I have to teach her a proper lesson, no matter what!"

A look of disgust flashed in Mrs. Scott’s eyes. Just the mention of Nina Scott made her feel ashamed; she felt her daughter had brought nothing but disgrace to their family.

"Mom, you still can’t just lock Nina up. Give me the key." Seth Scott was, after all, the current head of the Scott family, not to mention Mrs. Scott’s favorite and proudest son.

Mrs. Scott hesitated for a moment, but Seth pressed, "Mom!"

Only then did Mrs. Scott pull out the key, grumbling, "This is all your fault. You’ve been spoiling her since she was little. Now she’s completely spoiled."

Seth Scott took the key and finally let Nina Scott out.

The moment she saw Ivy Sherwood, Nina Scott threw herself into her arms. "Ivy!"

’Ivy really is the best. She remembered me.’

Ivy Sherwood patted Nina Scott’s back. "It’s okay, it’s okay. We’re here now."

Nina Scott’s eyes were red and swollen; it was obvious she had been crying.

But she wasn’t crying because she had been locked up. She was crying because her own mother could be so heartless, showing not a shred of affection for her own daughter.

"Let’s go, Nina." Ivy Sherwood was determined to get Nina Scott out of there.

Mrs. Scott started to say something, but Seth Scott stopped her.

"Look at her! Does she even see me as her mother anymore? Every time she comes home, she gives me that look. She’s the one who threw a tantrum first this time. What an ungrateful, rebellious daughter!"

As Mrs. Scott’s tirade continued behind them, Ivy Sherwood quickly pulled Nina Scott away.

A moment later, Yara Scott came upstairs. "Mother. Brother."

"Brother, what brings you back so suddenly? You can leave Mom to me; I’ll take good care of her. Brother, do you want to stay for dinner with us? I can have the kitchen make you something nice."

Yara Scott’s eyes sparkled as she looked at Seth Scott, but unfortunately, Mrs. Scott was too angry to notice.

Seth Scott replied, "No, I still have work at the office, so I can’t stay for dinner. You take good care of Mom."

"Brother, can’t you stay and eat with... with Mom and me? Our family hasn’t eaten together in such a long time," Yara Scott said, looking at Seth with yearning. The look of someone in love is impossible to hide.

Seth Scott hesitated for a moment. "Alright, then. Mom, I’ll stay for dinner with you."

Yara Scott was thrilled that she would get to eat with Seth Scott.

...

There had never been a place for Nina Scott in this family. When the rest of them ate together, they never once thought of her.

She was her mother, yet Mrs. Scott had no idea just how cruel her words truly were.

Ivy knew that Nina desperately wanted to be a part of the family, but in Mrs. Scott’s eyes, every one of her good intentions was a mistake.

Ivy Sherwood helped Nina Scott into the car. Once inside, Nina said, "Ivy, thank you."

Ivy Sherwood shook her head. "It was my brother who couldn’t get ahold of you. He was the one who came with me to find you. He was even more worried than I was."

Nina Scott looked over at Miles Mercer, who was driving, in surprise. She couldn’t believe he was the first one to realize she was missing.

Miles Mercer kept his eyes on the road, a hint of awkwardness on his face. "I wasn’t worried."

"My brother’s bark is worse than his bite. Just ignore him." Then Ivy Sherwood continued, "So, what’s your plan now? It looks like your mom is dead set on marrying you off to that guy."

Nina Scott said, "Yeah, it’s like someone put a hex on her. It was probably Yara. I don’t know what to do next. I guess I’ll just keep going on those blind dates... and try to get myself married off before the deadline."

Then a thought occurred to Nina Scott. "But... my household registration book is still at the Scott family home. She definitely won’t give it to me easily. It’ll be really hard to get my hands on it."

Ivy Sherwood said, "Don’t worry. We’ll find a chance and I’ll go with you to steal it!"

"Okay! Ivy, I’m starving," Nina Scott said, clutching her stomach.

"You mean you haven’t eaten this whole time? They locked you up and didn’t even give you any food?"

Nina Scott shook her head. Mrs. Scott had someone lock her in, but never had anyone bring her food. She’d been starving since yesterday.

"That’s just cruel! Let’s go get some food!" Ivy Sherwood took Nina Scott to a restaurant, where they feasted.

After eating her fill, Nina Scott theatrically made a fist-and-palm salute. "My thanks to you, my two valiant heroes, for coming to my rescue! I, Nina Scott, will never forget this. To show my respect, I’ll down this one first!"
