Chapter 101: First Day At the Academy [3]
In the classroom of "Year 1 Honor Students," students in their uniform filled the vast room with high ceilings that arched gracefully overhead, supported by slender pillars of pale marble etched with glowing runes.
The runes in the classroom pulsed with a soft, rhythmic light, casting a warm, golden glow across the entire space.
At the front of the room, a massive crystalline screen dominated the wall. It was sleek and transparent. The screen seemed to float slightly above the ground, its edges glowing faintly with blue light, giving it a futuristic, almost magical presence.
The desks were arranged in neat, curved rows, each one a masterpiece of design. They were made of dark, polished wood with metallic silver trim, their surfaces smooth and cool to the touch. Each desk had a small, embedded runic tablet that glowed faintly. The desks were slightly elevated toward the back, ensuring every student had a clear view of the instructor and teacher.
The floor was polished obsidian, dark and reflective, with faint silver veins running through it like captured lightning. It caught the golden light from the runes and scattered it softly across the room, creating a warm, inviting ambiance.
Floating crystal orbs hovered near the ceiling, their light soft and golden, mimicking natural sunlight. They drifted gently, adjusting their brightness and position to create the perfect atmosphere for learning. Some orbs had subtle, pastel-colored glows, soft blues, pinks, and greens, adding a touch of warmth and personality to the space.
Along the walls, tall, narrow windows stretched from floor to ceiling, offering breathtaking views of the academy grounds, the towers, the gardens, the distant mountains. The glass shimmered faintly with protective enchantments, and when the sunlight hit it, it created rainbows that danced across the room.
In the corners, small planters held glowing flora. Their soft, bioluminescent light added a touch of life and color, their petals shimmering in hues of blue, purple, and gold. The plants swayed gently, as if alive with the Originat in the air.
Near the door, a simple rune panel served as a control point for the instructor. With a touch, it could seal the room, activate barriers, or adjust the lighting.
The students were dressed in uniforms similar to what Lucien had worn, white with gold and silver trim, most seated in their designated spots, while a few stood near their desks, engaged in quiet conversation with their classmates.
The door to the classroom opened. Those who were standing quickly straightened, rushing to their seats as they turned to see who had entered.
It was Sylas. He walked to the front of the room, his crimson robe flowing behind him, his sharp eyes sweeping across the students.
"Good morning, everyone," Sylas said, his voice calm but carrying authority.
"Good morning, Instructor Sylas," the students replied in unison.
The smallest among them looked around thirteen years old, others close to fourteen, and the oldest a few at sixteen. They sat upright, their gazes fixed on their instructor.
Sylas smiled, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "I have an announcement. Today, we have a new student joining our class."
A murmur rippled through the room. The students exchanged glances, their curiosity piqued.
"He’s a special case," Sylas continued. "I expect you all to welcome him properly."
He turned toward the door and gestured. "Please come in."
The door swung open, and Lucien stepped into the room.
The moment he entered, the murmurs stopped. Eyes locked onto him, studying him from head to toe. His deep navy blue uniform was perfectly fitted, the golden embroidery catching the soft light. His black hair was slightly tousled, and his sharp features carried an air of quiet confidence.
The silence stretched for a moment.
Then, whispers broke out.
"He’s... handsome."
"Look at him. Is he really a first year?"
"How is he that good-looking?"
A girl near the front whispered to her friend, her cheeks slightly flushed. "I didn’t expect a new student to look like... that."
Another girl nodded, her eyes fixed on Lucien. "He’s definitely not ordinary."
A few boys glanced at each other, their expressions a mix of curiosity and wariness. They could feel something different about him.
Lucien’s gaze swept across the room, taking in the curious stares and whispered comments. He kept his expression calm, his steps steady as he walked to the front of the room.
Sylas raised a hand, silencing the whispers. "Everyone, this is Lucien Veyrion. He will be joining our class as a new Honor Student."
Sylas turned to Lucien. "Would you like to introduce yourself?"
Lucien faced the class, his voice calm and steady. "I’m Lucien Veyrion. I’ll be studying alongside you from today. I look forward to learning together."
His words were simple, but they carried a quiet confidence that made the students pay attention.
Sylas smiled, clearly satisfied. "Now, Lucien, you can take the empty seat near the middle."
Lucien nodded and walked to the seat, his steps unhurried. He sat down, the desk cool beneath his fingers, his gaze fixed on the front of the room.
The students watched him, their curiosity evident. Some glanced at him, others whispered among themselves.
"Mr. Lucien."
A familiar voice rang in Lucien’s ears, making him turn to his side.
When he saw the person, he sighed inwardly. It was Ryker, who was looking at him with eyes glowing like stars.
He had witnessed the battle between his Yandere wives, even though it wasn’t to the end.
"I had been waiting for you, mentor."
Lucien blinked. "Mentor?"
Ryker nodded eagerly. "You taught me so much during the assessment. I’ve been practicing what you showed me. I want to learn more."
’What did I really teach you.’ Lucien wanted to ask this but he kept his silence as he saw the students gazes were on him. Some were whispering and he knew it was about him.
It seems his peaceful life in the class might not be possible.
Sylas cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention back to the front of the room. "Alright, settle down. We have a lot to cover today."
The whispers faded, but the curiosity lingered. Lucien could feel eyes on him, especially from the girls who still glanced his way.
One of the girls near the front leaned toward her friend, her voice a hushed whisper. "He’s even more handsome up close."
Her friend nodded, her eyes fixed on Lucien. "I wonder where he’s from."
Another girl, seated a few rows away, tilted her head. "Did you see how he walked in? So confident."
Lucien heard the murmurs but ignored them. He kept his gaze fixed on Sylas, his expression calm and unreadable.
Ryker leaned closer again, his voice low. "They’re all staring at you."
"Who asked you?" Lucien said flatly.
He must make sure that he doesn’t provoke his wives jealousy or else...
As Sylas wanted to continue, he seemed to receive a message as he paused. His hand hovered near his robe, his eyes glazing over for a brief moment. The room fell silent as the students noticed his sudden stillness.
Then, his expression shifted, a flicker of something unreadable crossed his face before he smiled.
"Great news, everyone. We have two new Honor Students joining us today."
A wave of murmurs rippled through the room. Students exchanged glances, their curiosity piqued.
The girl near the front whispered to her friend, "Two new students? At the same time?"
Her friend shrugged, equally confused. "This is crazy and surprising."
Ryker leaned toward Lucien, his voice low. "Two new Honor Students? That’s rare. Usually, they only bring in one at a time."
Lucien didn’t reply. His eyes remained fixed on the front, but a flicker of unease stirred in his chest.
Sylas gestured toward the door. "Please come in."
The door swung open, and two figures stepped into the room.
When Lucien saw the two figures, he had to rub his eyes twice as he was shocked.
