Chapter 348: Provocation
Seeing Ding Gaoyi fly into such a rage, Huang Junchang was so terrified he didn’t dare make a peep.
’Looks like I’ll have to go explain things to Qin Tuo and smooth things over myself,’ he thought. ’There’s no way Master will listen.’
A group of his martial brothers seized the opportunity to berate Huang Junchang, calling him a traitor for siding with an outsider and disrespecting their master, among other things.
Listening to their reprimands, Huang Junchang could only grit his teeth and bear it, cursing his own bad luck.
Meanwhile, Qin Tuo, who was outside admiring the view from the hotel entrance, cracked a small smile.
In reality, his superhuman hearing allowed him to listen in on the entire conversation happening inside the room.
But Qin Tuo paid it no mind. The disdain from these sect members was not enough to disturb his composure.
From Qin Tuo’s current perspective, even someone like Ding Gaoyi was just a minor figure in his eyes, not worth a second thought.
And so, Qin Tuo moved to another room and settled in peacefully.
When it was time for dinner, Huang Junchang took the initiative to come and knock on his door.
"Mr. Qin, would you like to come down and eat with us?"
Qin Tuo asked, a bit puzzled,
"Oh? Eat together?"
Huang Junchang nodded with a smile.
"Yes, Mr. Qin. Please come down and eat with the members of my sect. It’s a good chance for everyone to get acquainted, clear up the previous misunderstanding, and maybe become friends, right?"
Since Huang Junchang put it that way, Qin Tuo felt it would be rude to refuse.
The two of them then went downstairs to the dining area.
Qin Tuo sat down to eat with all the disciples of the Martial Extreme Sect, but the atmosphere was a bit awkward.
These martial brothers clearly didn’t deign to give Qin Tuo a proper look. At the head of the table, Ding Gaoyi’s face was so cold it looked like it could freeze over, and he regarded Qin Tuo with extreme displeasure.
Naturally, Qin Tuo paid them no attention either, simply helping himself to his food.
At that moment, a few disciples couldn’t help but start talking amongst themselves in low voices.
"Did you guys hear? Liao Feiying from the Provincial City, a great sixth-rank Grandmaster, was actually killed by some young man!"
Immediately, several others reacted with shock, finding it hard to believe.
"Oh? A young man managed to kill Liao Feiying? How is that possible?"
Although they weren’t from the Provincial City, they had heard of the prowess of Liao Feiying, the Patriarch of the Liao Family. For a moment, they couldn’t accept such astonishing news.
Ding Gaoyi was also highly skeptical of the matter and couldn’t help but ask,
"Huang Junchang, you’re from the Provincial City. Have you heard anything about this?"
Huang Junchang was overjoyed to hear this. He had been looking for a chance to use this very topic to introduce Qin Tuo’s power to his fellow sect members.
He immediately said, full of excitement,
"Master, you may not know this, but I’m actually very clear on the matter!"
At that, Ding Gaoyi and the group of disciples all showed looks of interest.
"Oh, really? Then tell us, who was it?"
Huang Junchang smiled, pointed directly at Qin Tuo beside him, and was just about to open his mouth.
However, Qin Tuo immediately gave him a look, signaling him not to expose his identity.
Seeing Qin Tuo’s signal, Huang Junchang immediately shut his mouth and gave an awkward smile.
"Well, actually, I’ve only heard about it. I don’t know any other details!"
Hearing this, the entire group’s faces fell with disappointment.
They had thought Huang Junchang was about to reveal something useful, but it turned out to be a bunch of nonsense.
Qin Tuo nodded in satisfaction. He had no desire to casually expose his true identity in front of outsiders.
But Geng Cong, who was off to the side, thought for a moment and then said in a snide tone,
"Liao Feiying must have fallen into a trap. Otherwise, how could a great sixth-rank Grandmaster possibly be taken out by some young punk? Don’t you all agree?"
The group of martial brothers all nodded emphatically in agreement.
"Exactly! There’s no way a Grandmaster-level expert could be defeated that easily. That must be it. The guy definitely won through dishonorable means!"
"Heh, I knew it. Liao Feiying was a powerful figure in his own right, after all. There’s no way he would just be defeated so inexplicably."
Listening to their words, Huang Junchang looked extremely embarrassed and could only offer a weak smile, not daring to say more.
He turned his head and saw that Qin Tuo was simply eating with his head down, completely ignoring the disciples’ discussion.
Seeing Qin Tuo’s behavior, the group of martial brothers all had looks of contempt in their eyes!
Geng Cong in particular had a scheming look in his eyes, clearly thinking of how to make things difficult for Qin Tuo.
Just then, about halfway through dinner, Geng Cong suddenly let out a cold smirk.
Then, as if deliberately targeting Qin Tuo, he pulled a dirty trick.
Whenever Qin Tuo reached for a dish with his chopsticks, Geng Cong would immediately snatch it away first, a smug look on his face.
Gradually, a trace of displeasure appeared in Qin Tuo’s eyes!
’While I don’t want to bother with these guys, it’s annoying when flies like them come buzzing around me.’
Huang Junchang noticed this as well and quickly asked,
"Senior Brother, what are you doing?"
But Geng Cong just shook his head with a disdainful smile and said,
"Nothing. I just don’t like the look of this kid, that’s all. What about it?"
Hearing Geng Cong say this, Huang Junchang grew anxious.
He knew how powerful Qin Tuo was and was terrified he would fly into a rage on the spot and wipe them all out.
Meanwhile, Qin Tuo slowly put down his chopsticks and looked at Geng Cong seriously.
Anyone who knew him would know that Qin Tuo was starting to get angry.
Geng Cong met Qin Tuo’s gaze without a shred of fear and said with a chuckle,
"Kid, I hear you’re even more powerful than my master. I’d love to ask you for some pointers. Do you dare?"
However, after watching him for a moment, Qin Tuo shook his head and said nonchalantly,
"You are not worthy."
These words not only shocked everyone present but also sent Geng Cong into a fury.
After all, he was considered one of the top disciples in the sect, yet he was being so utterly despised by Qin Tuo.
Geng Cong slammed his hand on the table, shot to his feet, and looked ready to strike.
"You’re so arrogant, kid! Let’s see what you’ve really got!"
Just as Geng Cong was about to charge, Huang Junchang quickly stood up and blocked his path.
"Senior Brother, please don’t be rash!"
Geng Cong gritted his teeth and said, fuming,
"Get out of my way! No matter what, I’m teaching this kid a lesson today so he learns not to be so damn arrogant!"
Seeing Qin Tuo’s expression slowly darken, Huang Junchang was beside himself with anxiety.
An idea struck him, and he hurriedly said,
"Senior Brother, you don’t know! Mr. Qin... he’s the young man who killed Liao Feiying!"
The moment he said this, the entire table was stunned into silence.
