Chapter 65: The Wrong Right
Chapter 65: The Wrong Right
Jill turned around in her sleep. Her head landed on something relatively hard and very warm. When she felt the support against her cheek raise, she immediately opened her eyes and sat up. By reflex she took with her the sheets to cover her body.Right down, next to her was someone who wasn’t supposed to be here. Quickly pulling away the sheet, she checked her and her partner’s state of dress.
“Shit.”
“Yeah.”
Jill covered herself back again when she saw Rick awake still laying on his back. It couldn’t be happening. Not with her little brother figure. Not the kid she raised a bit for four years. She refused to believe it yet the memories were there.
Rick had told her about the T-virus outbreak in Harvardville Airport in meticulous details. How he was nearly crushed by a crashing plane full of zombies. How he found himself locked in the West wing and how he regrouped with other survivors which included her ex’s little sister and their friend, Leon S. Kennedy. How they fought their way out, survived a bomb and uncovered a whole conspiracy.
Then came the tale about his fight with G. His apparent fire resistance and survival, then his fight naked against the B.O.W. She hadn’t believed it at first but he told her she could check with Claire and Leon, who were witnesses.
Dinner was over and they moved over to the couch to open one of the bottles of tequila when Rick talked about how he and Claire reconnected. For that part he was thankfully very undescriptive of what happened. Only factual. The kicker however was the note Claire had written and left behind.
Jill agreed with him, it was cruel although she didn’t believe it was Claire’s intention. If anything she believed that the youngest Redfield just wanted to share her feelings but didn’t have the courage to do it face to face. Not after the night of passion they had shared together. Perhaps to avoid seeing his face when she broke his heart. Again.
Not knowing quite what to say to cheer him up or simply comfort him, Jill simply drank and put a movie on the TV. She had rented Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, at Blockbuster a few days back and hadn't come to watch it yet so she thought it was a good distraction. She had confessed she nearly punched the clerk when he suggested Dawn on the Dead which made him chuckle a little.
Star Wars turned out to be a very bad rom com. Wrong DVD in the box. With nothing else to do, they rolled with it. Neither liking the romance genre even if it was also a comedy, Rick got up and went to make a thick fake mustache from paper and put it on the screen for a drinking game.
It was simple, every time the mustache aligned with a character’s face they had to drink a shot of tequila. It was a game Rachel taught him years ago and with which she had lots of fun with, he had explained to Jill.
Intrigued by how often the alignment could happen, the mistress of unlocking agreed.
The answer had been a lot. The director of the movie loved close-ups and Rick had to open the second Tequila bottle. Mid-movie. While alcohol had no effect on him, it did on Jill who turned quite tactile with him, until she just forgot about the movie and simply went off for a kiss. Her dry spell had been the longest to date: eight months and she was feeling horny, especially after Rick’s story even if he had only shared facts.
Next thing she remembered, they were on her bed and she was bouncing on his cock like a cow girl in the wildest rodeo in history having the time of his life
Now that she wasn’t inebriated anymore, she felt a mix of shame, embarrassment and anger. The latter towards Rick because he hadn’t been drunk and went along instead of pushing her away and carrying her to bed to tuck her in.
He seemed to have read her mind because he spoke before she could say a single word.
“Give me one time when I refused you anything? You can’t because that never happened. I never told you no because I can’t and you know it.”
The anger rescinded a bit to let place to annoyance. It was true. Rick had never told her no and always obediently did what she said. A surprising thing now that she thought about it. Rick had always done whatever he wanted, enjoying his freedom yet had always listened to her.
She shouted, her anger flaring again. “You could have!”
“No.” He gave her a shake of his head. “I was horny myself and I need the connection. And although it was weird… man, you’re gorgeous Jugs. How do you expect me to—”
The front door’s bell rang, interrupting him. They stayed silent waiting for it to end but it persisted. Thinking that it may be important, Jill got out of bed, took the sheet with her and went to step out of the room to see what it was all about. At the door’s frame she turned around to look at Rick but quickly diverted her eyes. Without the sheet, he was buck naked and his morning wood was towering up to the ceiling as a thick pillar of flesh.
“Don’t move. An. Inch.” She ordered. “We’re going back to this conversation when I’m done with this.”
Jill went to the entrance, securing the sheet around her in a more appropriate manner. On her way to open the door she saw the time on the clock on a wall. The hand indicated 6:20.
‘Who the fuck knocks so early in the morning?’
The answer was her elderly neighbour. A kind woman in her seventies and a bit of a gossip. Whatever happened in the building, she knew. Jill swore that the woman was a former CIA or NSA operative and had bugged every single flat to know so much about the tenants’ lives.
What did the old woman want? To congratulate Jill for finally bringing a man home. And not any man. ‘The charming youth that could drop her panties any time despite her advanced age’. Jill’s jaw went slack when she heard that. Then came the advice of getting laid more often as it helped venting and relaxing. The lady spoke from experience or so she said.
When Jill caught her bearings, she apologized politely, lying about needing to rest. The neighbour joked that she sure did after how long she went at it the previous night. Apparently they heard her screams two floors away.
That was it for the former STARS who simply closed the door on the ladies face while her own was flushed red from embarrassment. She stomped back to her bedroom, ready to tear Rick a new one when she saw him and more importantly his erection still pointing up.
“What the fuck?! Couldn’t you cover yourself?!”
He protested on the spot in an offended tone. “You told me not to move an inch!”
“ARGH!” Screaming her frustration she removed the sheet from her body and threw it on Rick’s face, so he wouldn’t see her naked. “I’m taking a shower, then you next, then we’re continuing that talk in the kitchen because I need coffee.”
Without waiting for an answer she executed her plan, taking a black tank top and shorts in her closet on the way to the bathroom. Once water fell on her head from the pommel above, more memories of the previous night surfaced. She nearly bashed her forehead against the wall to forget.
She couldn’t because of her mixed feelings. On one hand. It felt wrong. On the other hand, it felt awesome. It had been one of the wildest nights she ever had, if not perhaps the wildest. Rick had satisfied her like no other before and she wasn’t frustrated anymore. The problems at work? The issues with her last investigation? No more. She didn’t care about any of it. The last time she had been that relaxed was before that fateful mission in the Arklay Mountains in July of 98. More than seven years ago. It also told a lot that she took a while to realize that.
‘God damnit! Am I seriously trying to justify having slept with Rick?! He just had his heart broken again a day ago! Well… he didn’t seem to mind… Which is another problem altogether!’ Back and forth her thoughts alternate between horrific outrage and justification.
Knowing that nothing good will come out of this, Jill turned off the water and quickly dried herself to put on some clothes. When she exited the bathroom she shouted to Rick that it was free and made her way to the kitchen where she made some coffee.
Ten minutes later, Rick came back in wearing only his T-shirt and underwear. When he walked in front of her to reach for the shelf on the wall to take a mug, her eyes instinctively went to his covered ass. She couldn’t believe she tapped that and suppressed the urge to slap it.
Serving himself some coffee and giving Jill a refill, Rick leaned against the stove, facing her who was against the kitchen table. The silence was heavy but surprisingly not awkward. It went on until their cups were empty.
“I don’t regret it.” He confessed breaking the momentum they had. “It felt weird. It felt… a bit wrong but I don’t regret it. It was one of the best experiences in my life. Up there with Rachel. It doesn’t change anything for me either. You’re still the only person I consider family.”
Jill said nothing at first but the words came out themselves. “I don’t regret it either.” She surprised herself by saying this. Part of her cursed her mouth and stupid brain while another was more surreal and took pride in the compliment.
Another silence fell in the kitchen then and lasted for a good five minutes. Again, it was Rick who broke it.
“It’s a quarter to Seven.”
“It is.”
The silence this time was short. “Before we go to work… Want to go another round?”
“God yes!”
Jill’s mouth spoke again without her approval but she honestly didn’t care. She wasn’t about to miss on the opportunity for really good sex and it wasn’t like they hadn’t already crossed the line.
Her mug found itself on the table and she pulled up her tank top while Rick crossed the distance between them, grabbed her by the ass and pulled her up. Immediately her legs wrapped around his back and her arms circled his neck to hold herself in place and allow her to kiss him without falling.
Pushing Jill against his body, feeling her massive naked breasts against his chest, he walked towards the living room while trying to win the fight their tongues were having.
“Nuh, bedroom.” She let out when she broke the kiss for a second and Rick changed his destination.
He didn’t even bother to close the door behind them. Not like it mattered from what he heard the neighbour said with his super hearing. Jill would moan and call his name for the next hour and fifteen minutes. One hour spent in bed and fifteen minutes having one last romp in the shower.
When they arrived at work they were just on time. Rick was his usual stoic self and so was Jill. The difference was the latter humming happily to herself. Nobody dared make a comment on it however.
Rick sat at his desk and began writing his report from the event of Harvardville in excruciating detail. Minus the part where his abilities came into play. The whole fight against G had been heavily censored and edited for a believable and inconspicuous version.
“Valentine! Wald! My office, now!”
Rick looked up from his screen and turned his head to look at Jill sitting at the opposite side of the office. They exchanged looks and had a quick silent conversation. None of them knew what O’Brian wanted or what it was about.
After saving his report, Rick stood up and walked to his boss’ personal office, right behind Jill. Once inside he closed the door behind him.
“Sir?” She asked.
O’Brian was rummaging through a drawer in his desk. “We’re going to Italy.”
“We?” Rick repeated for confirmation. “As in Jugs, me and you, sir?”
“Yes.” Clive pulled out his passport and put it in his vest inside pocket. “I got word of the presence of mysterious corpses that seemed to be floating ashore. ”
Jill frowned. “Okay but isn’t it some work from our European branch?”
“In normal times: yes. However it’s ashore on the mainland from the ruins of Terragrigia ”
Now it made sense why O’Brian was going himself and was taking Jill and Rick with him. Terragrigia meant F.B.C. and the both of them were in the know about the suspicious activity of the organization during the incident. They were two people he knew he could trust since they had been the one reporting about the events and their own suspicions.
O’Brian looked at them. “There is also more distressing news. Il Veltro is apparently still active. I sent Redfield and Sherawat four days ago to investigate discreetly an Il Veltro base I learned about from an acquaintance. We don’t know where it is exactly except in the mountains. So far they reported finding nothing.”
“When do we leave?” Rick was already preparing himself for the mission.
“Within the hour.”
“That’s not enough time for us to pack, sir.” Jill remarked.
“It’s fine, new uniforms were delivered two weeks ago. Take a bunch of those.” Clive walked around his desk and left the office.
Rick wanted to know more. “Weaponry?”
“It’s a simple investigation of corpses so only your service guns. If it turns into something more, you’ll be properly equipped.”
“No need to leave a paper trail for nothing.” Jill understood.
Everything was well documented in the BSAA. If someone took something in the armory they had to fill a form. For every item. From a simple pair of shoes to a mini-gun or rocket launcher. Rick nearly choked on his spit when he got to learn about that rule when he had wanted to take a shotgun, a submachine gun, two grenades, three flashbands, an axe and all the magazines for the firearms. He absolutely hated that rule.
People would start asking questions if both he and Jill geared up for war only to investigate a few corpses. That would have attracted unwanted attention while they were searching proof of FBC’s wrongdoings and severely impaired them if not outright blew up on their faces.
Inwardly, Rick was already preparing to seize the opportunity to make a call to Rachel. If the BSAA had got wind of Il Veltro still being active then the law enforcement organization his best friend was working for and spying on, definitely knew.
