My Undead Legion Kills God's

Chapter 146: Devilish Smile.

"Guys, I can’t hold this up for long."

Rex grunted as countless frost-bats continued to pummel his boundary. Their bodies repeatedly slammed against the invisible barrier, each impact making the boundary tremble under the pressure. He was already struggling to maintain it, and with so many frost-bats attacking at once, he could feel his strength steadily being drained.

A little boy held Claire’s leg tightly as he trembled in fear. There were too many people gathered behind the boundary, and most of them weren’t fighters.

They had already been through enough during the war, yet. The frost-bats had found them, and now their sheer numbers were enough to turn the situation into another desperate battle.

To make matters worse, more frost-bats were gathering behind them. They didn’t attack immediately. Instead, they remained at a distance.

Elias’s body changed, his skin turning metallic as he attempted to transform. It barely lasted a second.

The metallic colour quickly faded from his body, forcing him back into his normal human form. His breathing became heavier as he stared dreadfully at the countless frost-bats outside the boundary.

"I still haven’t recovered enough to use my Dormant ability in a fight, and the Awakened that didn’t participate in the battle are too weak to fight against a horde of frost-bats."

Ryan, who was standing next to Elias, didn’t respond. His body suddenly vanished.

He reappeared at the very back of the group, far beyond the area Rex’s boundary could reach. One of the partly armoured men was standing there, completely exposed, when a frost-bat suddenly lunged toward him.

Its claws flashed toward his head.

Before they could reach him, Ryan appeared beside him and punched straight through the frost-bat.

The punch tore through its body, the creature letting out a sharp screech before falling lifelessly to the ground. But even after killing it, Ryan wasn’t unharmed. A layer of frost had already begun spreading across his bloodied fist, creeping over his skin from the point of contact.

Ryan instantly vanished and reappeared beside Elias. He coughed up a mouthful of blood mixed with frost.

"The frost-bats are harder to kill than they look. Each time I make contact, it’s like they’re leaving behind a piece of their essence inside me."

Ryan’s legs gave out, and he fell toward his knees.

Seris caught him before he could hit the ground and immediately started another round of healing. Her hand moved over his chest as she forced what little strength remained within her ability into him.

But even Seris had a limit.

After spending so much time treating the injured, she and all the other healers were completely spent. Their abilities had been pushed far beyond what their exhausted bodies could sustain, leaving them barely capable of properly using them anymore.

It was like the well they drew their power from had finally run dry.

"Rest up, Ryan. The longer we hold out, the better. The frost-bats are a cautious race. They won’t attack until they’re convinced they can kill us all while dealing as little damage to their population as possible."

Rex gulped loudly enough for everyone to hear. "Is it just me, or have they gotten awfully quiet?"

The human survivors slowly raised their heads, their eyes moving towards the frost-bats. The creatures were no longer flying around them or slamming against Rex’s boundary. Instead, every single frost-bat had landed, their wings folded against their bodies as they stared dead straight at the survivors.

"Guys, this is hella creepy." Rex felt whatever sanity he had left beginning to slip away. After everything they had already been through, the sudden silence was somehow more terrifying than the constant assault.

Then Micah’s expression changed. His eyes widened slightly as he realised something was different. Every frost-bat was staring directly at him.

"Wait, they are reacting to my ability."

The moment he said that, two figures, well, three to be exact, materialised in the space next to him.

Damien was hunched over with both hands on his head while cursing at the top of his lungs, his entire posture radiating misery. Beside him, Andrea was patting him on the back, seemingly trying to console the weeping dead man.

Everybody’s expressions froze.

For a second, nobody seemed capable of processing what they were seeing. Then the realisation hit them a moment later.

They were saved.

Two more high-level Awakened had just appeared, and not just any high-level Awakened, but Andrea and Damien.

Andrea’s power was well known. She had led them to where they were today, surviving one disaster after another and becoming one of the strongest people among them. But Damien was just as terrifying in his own way.

He had a halo of mystery surrounding him, the man who had nearly destroyed the Eidolon army all on his own, the man who could raise the dead and turn them into his willing slaves. Nobody really understood what was going on inside his head, and that only made him more dangerous.

"This is definitely that damn Emissary’s doing. He must have gotten jealous of all my accomplishments and decided to punish me with a big chicken." Damien bawled his eyes out even though no tears actually came out.

Andrea felt like blaming the Emissary was out of the question. She firmly believed that it had to do with rank, but Damien wasn’t buying it. As far as he was concerned, the Emissary had personally betrayed him by turning his mighty Therizon into something that looked more like an oversized chicken.

Screech!

The undead Therizon made a familiar sound, but instead of reassuring Damien, it only made him feel even more dejected.

"Shut the hell up damn bird". Damien cursed at it.

Andrea, on the other hand, raised her head and froze in place. Only now did she realise that they were surrounded by countless frost-bats. They were a weak race, but dealing with so many of them was a real nuisance.

"Hey, Damien. Check this out."

Damien wiped his nose and looked around. Hundreds of survivors were staring blankly at him, while at the forefront, the strongest Awakened of the camp were preparing to face off against the horde of frost-bats.

A devilish smile slowly spread across his face, which made the frost-bats flinch uneasily.
