Chapter 243: The Definition Of... Overpowered (4)
[The All-Key Domain - An unprecedented aura domain born from the fusion of every weapon aura, intertwined with the essence of countless battles and silent assassinations.
This powerful creation extends seamlessly into the user’s divine sense, allowing them to perceive and influence everything within its reach.
Within this domain, the user enjoys two distinct buffs and debuffs.
For buffs, any weapon you wield instantly amplifies your total power output by +15, and you become invisible to anyone whose power does not match your own.
As for debuffs affecting enemies, those caught inside are always just a single strike away from death, and escape is impossible unless their total power output surpasses that of the user.]
----
"Not bad at all," Akasha murmured as he shifted Sage from his head to his lap, absently rubbing her, fingers sinking into gray fur that seemed to take in all the light of the treehouse.
Sage cracked one eye open at the movements.
Her gaze was slow and languid, carrying a hint of irritation at being roused from her slumber. She brushed his hand with a gentle lick, a soft purr rumbling from deep within her chest.
Without another thought, her eyelids drifted shut once more, and she nestled herself comfortably against his thighs.
In the last few minutes, Akasha had done exactly what he set out to do.
After using the pills to instantly perfect his Auras, he matched each one with a unique artifact, effortlessly conjured into existence for that very purpose.
Many may have long wondered why Akasha never delved too deeply into the potential of his Auras, or why he rarely used them at all.
And... the answer lay in this exact moment.
Up until now, he had possessed a Scythe Domain, a Battle Domain, and a Sword Domain.
Yet he had only ever wielded the Scythe Domain, and even then, with just a single enhancement...
All because he had always known that one day he would merge them into something far more outrageous than any of them could ever be on their own.
"Honestly," he said with a shrug, rubbing Sage behind one ear, "I’m not sure how this compares to other Domains in terms of uniqueness."
The truth was that he didn’t know—and he couldn’t bring himself to care.
"Eventually, I’ll gather every single Aura, maybe even create one of my own," he muttered with a faint smile.
"But for now... this is enough."
There was nothing truly stopping him from obtaining every Aura, even those unrelated to violence, but there were still two things he wanted to accomplish first.
He knew one of them would be the catalyst for a profound evolution.
Without hesitation, Akasha reached into his inventory and pulled out two items, letting them hover in the air before the zafu.
The Star Genesis Seed hung first... and it looked cosmic in the truest sense, as if entire realities had been folded into a single point of dark brilliance and left there to wait.
Beside it turned the Fragment of Dream Authority, a broken slab marked with purple script of the Language of Gods, the characters so dense that if anyone else looked at them too long, their edges of thought felt thin.
Sage remained in his lap, still purring from the last lazy lick, gray fur rising and falling under his hand.
He looked at both items and sighed.
The right sequence was clear—the Fragment should have been used first.
Still, he reached for the Seed, a weary smile tugging at his lips, the kind that belonged to someone done with circling around a decision for far too long.
"Even though I should start with the Fragment..." he muttered, fingers curling around the Seed. "Let’s just get this damn evolution over with already."
The instant his hand met the Seed, his consciousness was pulled out of the treehouse and into a darkness so complete that mountain, Lynx, white fruit, and wood all vanished together.
He was now left alone before a single status that waited in the black silently.
[How do you envision yourself?]
Seeing these words, he couldn’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia.
"My Yume~," he said with a teasing tone, now wondering what would happen to her as he prepared to add another path to the Star.
The status was familiar enough to bring a smile to his face, even in that lightless place, and then he responded with a sentence he had already spent his life moving toward.
"Free and unbound... I see myself living free and unbound by anything other than myself."
HUMMMMMM!!!!!
As the final syllable slipped from his lips, his awareness seemed to twist and spiral, as though the darkness itself had seized it.
In an instant, he plunged into a sleep so abrupt and absolute that all sense of intention, thought, and even the comforting feel of Sage’s fur vanished entirely.
HUMMMMM!!!!!
Outside, in the treehouse living room, divinity kept surging in a massive wave that seemed like it could split the floor and peel the canopy away from the Golden Apple Tree.
Yet the room received that force without breaking, wood and wall and white fruit remaining exactly where they had been while the surge took Akasha and Sage together.
Sage’s body was drawn against his as the evolution closed around them both, purple and gray and blue light folding over one another until the zafu stood empty and a single cocoon occupied the chamber.
----
"Where... did Mistress Yume go?"
Calista’s voice carried across the Hub of Knowledge with a quiet, unsettled curiosity.
She stood a few steps from Luna, her eyes drifting over the countless illusory shapes of knowledge before returning to meet Luna’s.
They had been in the midst of a conversation.... until Yume suddenly vanished.
Luna and Yume had arrived after finishing the restoration of the World of Training, and the conversation had not yet reached anything resembling a conclusion.
One moment Yume had been standing at Luna’s side, cool and composed, and the next moment the space beside Luna was empty.
"Hmm?"
Luna arched a brow as she closed her eyes, pink-and-purple lashes lowering as she reached along the bond she kept with Akasha.
The connection opened easily, and through it she glimpsed the rush of divinity, the way it had pulled Sage in, colors of purple, gray, and blue folding together until the zafu sat vacant and a lone cocoon rested in the chamber.
She observed from his side of the link just long enough to grasp the shape of what had started, then opened her eyes again.
A soft giggle escaped her.
"Looks like your master is up to something pretty interesting."
Calista shook her head, a smile tugging at her mouth even as she refused to follow that thought any further.
Whatever Akasha had pulled himself into this time, she had learned not to chase the details until they arrived on their own.
She let the smile fade into something more practical and brought the conversation back where it had been before Yume vanished.
"Is it truly all right," she asked, "for us to sit around doing nothing?"
