Chapter 311: Confrontation
Chapter 311: Chapter 308: Confrontation
Under the dazzling golden light, through a high-saturation filter, Zhang Wenda pursued Qianxi, drawing ever closer to the center.
Everything around them remained bizarre and kaleidoscopic. All the buildings, cars, and other objects merged with everything else that had emerged from other thought-streams.
Combined with the brilliant golden light, it was as if the two of them were in a dream.
As they drew nearer to the Golden Ball, Zhang Wenda noticed a change in his surroundings. His powers were being suppressed. The circus clowns, the Little Black Cats, and the Hippocampus had vanished at some point. The only thing left by his side was his three-colored self.
But Zhang Wenda also noticed that Qianxi was being affected by the ball of light as well. Her supposedly mechanized body and computer-like head were gradually reverting to a human form.
Zhang Wenda didn’t know where she was taking him or what her goal was, but he absolutely could not let her get her way.
After a quick glance from side to side, Zhang Wenda gave a slight nod to the red monster beside him. The monster nodded back in silent understanding and grabbed Zhang Wenda’s feet with both hands.
It exerted its full strength, swinging him around a few times before flinging Zhang Wenda toward Qianxi with immense force.
The wind howled. Zhang Wenda shot forward like a missile, hurtling toward his target at incredible speed.
At that moment, Qianxi’s head twisted a full 180 degrees to face the incoming Zhang Wenda. Seven bizarre, swollen mouse cursors materialized instantly, stabbing at Zhang Wenda from impossible angles.
But in that same instant, Zhang Wenda’s body switched. His human form instantly became the red monster. With a flash of cold light, all the cursors were sliced into pieces.
Zhang Wenda’s reverse-jointed feet stomped hard on a newly emerged cluster of thoughts. He used the opening, before new cursors could appear, to rapidly close in on the nearby enemy.
CLANG! The sharp sickles swung down, like massive blades chopping toward Qianxi’s head.
With another CLANG, Qianxi raised her white-gloved hand and blocked the massive blades, the impact sending sparks flying.
Faced with Zhang Wenda, who was now incredibly fast and strong, Qianxi was actually able to match him blow for blow with her physical body.
The air rang with percussive clashes, like a blacksmith’s hammer on an anvil. The two collided in mid-air before quickly separating.
Zhang Wenda knew the absolute physical power of his red monster form. Yet after several exchanges, he hadn’t even managed to injure Qianxi, let alone stain her pristine white suit. ‘This is impossible.’
Just then, the shared vision from the blue rabbit at his side allowed Zhang Wenda to see a small pop-up window appear next to Qianxi. The “Indestructible” option was selected.
An insidious emoji appeared on Qianxi’s face. She slammed her right fist into her left palm, producing a crisp, metallic sound.
“I’m not one for direct confrontation, but that doesn’t mean I *can’t* do it.”
SCREEECH… The tip of Zhang Wenda’s sickle scraped against the ground—which had turned a solid gold from the reflection—striking sparks as he walked slowly. He stared intently at Qianxi.
“Then let’s end this, right here, right now.”
Qianxi shrugged, a hint of smugness in her voice. “But why would I fight you to the death here? Have you been watching too much anime? I’ve already won. Why would I humor you with a one-on-one duel? Only an idiot would do that.”
‘She has plenty of her people nearby. As long as I find new allies, this kid is toast.’
The moment she finished speaking, she turned to flee, only to find the blue rabbit and the yellow child blocking her path.
“This time, you don’t get to choose.” The three Zhang Wendas simultaneously advanced on Qianxi in the center, completely surrounding her.
Qianxi quickly set her speed parameter to maximum and charged toward the child, the weakest point in the encirclement.
But the instant she made contact with the child, the red, barbed Zhang Wenda appeared in its place and slammed violently into her.
He and the other two colors were now a trinity. They were all Zhang Wenda, and they could swap positions at any time to adapt to the situation.
THUD! Zhang Wenda snapped his head back and then slammed it forward. His forehead crashed hard against Qianxi’s screen. Blood streamed from his scalp, trickling slowly down the monitor.
Zhang Wenda stared death at the pixelated eyes on the screen, spitting out through clenched teeth, word by word, “You’re not getting away! You lunatic! How many people have died because of you!”
“Hahaha, say what you will, but the path the Big Circle has chosen is the new world of the future. Don’t you want your uncle back?” Qianxi retorted.
“He’s dead! I won’t abandon the living by obsessing over the dead!”
Hearing this, a hint of regret crossed Qianxi’s face. “How boring. You used to be more interesting. Growing up has made you no fun.”
She spread her hands, gesturing to the golden-lit surroundings. “But no matter what you say, we’ve won, and you’ve lost. Look at this bright new world! Under 1999’s transformation, the entire world will be reborn!”
“From now on, the rules of this world will be set by the Big Circle!”
Relying on her “Indestructible” status, Qianxi tried to ignore Zhang Wenda and simply walk away, but she soon found she couldn’t move.
When she looked down, she saw Zhang Wenda gripping her hands tightly, forcefully restraining her.
Then, the blue rabbit at his side raised a blue paw and waved it gently. A gateway to Qianxi’s inner world opened once more.
From the very beginning, Zhang Wenda had decided that if physical attacks wouldn’t work, he would go straight for the mental plane!
The blue rabbit and the small Wenda didn’t hesitate, leaping directly into Qianxi’s Spiritual World.
Qianxi quickly realized something was wrong. Her body began to stutter and lag again, and her once-stable emotions started to fluctuate wildly.
A cursor appeared again, attempting to click on her head and reformat it. But there was no way Zhang Wenda would let her succeed. The instant the cursor descended, he dragged Qianxi down to the ground.
“You… You little bastard!!” Qianxi finally looked furious. As her emotions shifted, the environment changed again. The previously destroyed Thought-Stream 13 began to expand outward from her as its center.
She was trying to reestablish the Internet World. As long as she was in the Internet World, she was invincible!
But Qianxi suddenly saw the Zhang Wenda before her give a small smile. A massive red scar hovered behind him. But in the next second, that Zhang Wenda and the giant scar vanished before her eyes, replaced by the blue rabbit.
A sense of foreboding welled up in Qianxi’s mind. She was about to strike the blue rabbit before her, but in the next instant, an excruciating pain, so intense it felt like her entire body was being torn apart, surged through her, making it almost impossible to even stand.
