Longevity in Naruto

Chapter 361 : Fool

"What a huge fool."

Mina said suddenly while she was still touring the city with Hashirama, as if thinking aloud, then quickly came back to her senses.

"Who do you mean, Princess?"

Hashirama replied in confusion, his expression showing surprise.

"Ah, nothing. Don't worry about it. I was just thinking aloud, that's all."

And she thought to herself: "I must have gotten carried away enough to actually say what I was thinking. How embarrassing. How did those words even come out of my mouth?"

In truth, Mina was not the only one who felt this way. Many figures from both the Ayato family and the Walt family felt annoyed and somewhat frustrated, because they had noticed that their ancestor, the family patriarch, had personally left his base to meet a young man from the Senju clan, and that alone had caused a huge shock.

Most of them had only seen the family patriarch a few times during the family's annual gatherings, and even then, it was difficult to see him.

What increased their frustration even more was that he had offered the young man named Tobirama the chance to become his disciple. This was considered unprecedented in the history of their family. The family patriarch had never taken a disciple before.

Everyone who had trained under him had been his children and grandchildren from the first four generations. As for the generations after that, very few had been granted this honor, and they considered themselves lucky if they received even a little guidance from him. So how could someone from outside the family receive such an offer? It was simply unbelievable.

And the young man from the Senju clan, even if he appeared talented and strong, was not particularly outstanding when compared to the members of their clan, who possessed a powerful Kikai Genkai, enhanced genes, and exceptional abilities. So the whole matter seemed extremely strange.

But what frustrated them even more was that the young man had refused. Yes, he had refused an offer to become the disciple of an entity capable of plucking stars from the sky and wiping out galaxies with a glance, someone who saw time as an open map.

To them, this seemed insane, foolish, and frustrating beyond belief. They had to compete in harsh tests and undergo grueling training just to obtain an opportunity to open the path before them, hoping that they might earn a moment of approval from their patriarch.

Yet the child from the Senju clan had been given a golden opportunity and refused it. He refused to become the disciple of their ancestor simply because he did not know the value of what had been offered to him, nor did he realize that he could have become one of the most powerful beings in existence.

In truth, Dan could sense everything they were thinking, and he merely smiled. The reason he had offered Tobirama the position was not because he considered him extraordinarily special. Compared to his family, Tobirama was an ordinary person, or at least not an exceptional one.

He simply wanted to try and see whether he could take this character he had once watched in his original world as an anime and make him his disciple.

So it was nothing more than a simple and foolish desire left over from his original world, a human desire with no strategic purpose and no calculations concerning the future. It was merely a whim, and now it was over.
