Eidolon Earth: Candidate Author

[Hayato’s POV]

My eyes were revising the policy papers and data for the negotiation 14th time now, imagining different scenarios with a variety of questions from the crown.

If this negotiation failed, Parshara Kingdom may not survive another year.

The sky was of dark orange color now.

Then I heard a scream, I looked out of the window to see Arin frantically running towards the escort guards.

His screaming alerted them as they unmounted from their horses and unsheathed their swords.

I too descended from the carriage and saw 10 men on the horses coming towards us.

Each one of them armed except one.

The scarred man at the front descended and asked the man for identification whom Arin beat at the inn.

He threatened us to handover Arin or die.

Escorting guards instantly clashed with them at that. Sir Graham was faring well due to his experience and vast power.

He was enveloped in a mysterious brown glow, whenever the opponent’s swords touched him, they never left more than a scratch. It was as if his durability has been magnified a hundred fold.

The other two guys who fought him were enveloped in a blue glow, their flexibility increased, they were able to endure the sheer strength of Sir Graham’s sword which had such power that whenever their swords clashed a small crater would be formed under their feet.

My eyes couldn’t believe what they were seeing, they were equivalent to what would be known as a first grade Elite on Earth.

Other escorting knights weren’t that adept.

They were barely keeping up with the thugs and were being pushed back.

THWACK!

A single loud sound attracted everyone’s attention.

I turned my head without thinking and saw Arin flying like a thrown rag doll.

The scarred man turned towards the man at the inn and blurred appearing near him, grabbed his shoulder and their image blurred appearing near Arin.

I panicked and saw Hassan hidden on the opposite side of carriage covering his ears.

I didn’t had any power to fight but at that time my instincts won against my logic.

I freed a horse and mounted over it.

The horse ran, catching speed towards the man at the inn who raised his axe.

The scarred man turned, his eyes bright with murderous intent.

He turned fully, held his great sword and closed his eyes, the strange green glow enveloped him.

My thoughts screamed at me to jump off the horse, my hairs stood up and tinnitus intensified, my body recognized the death in front of me.

My palms were sweating I was about to jump but just then-

“KEEP GOING, BE NOT AFRAID” a deep majestic voice of immeasurable authority sang in my head.

The scarred man raised his sword, the green glow intensifying in his meditation.

I was almost in front of him.

He was going to swing his sword-

But a small pebble, a rock half the size of a fist hit him square in the face interrupting his meditation.

I turned my neck around only to see Hassan holding a slingshot while his legs protested against standing.

In that short moment where his meditation broke I rushed past him and grabbed the hair of the inn man the moment his axe came down and dragged him.

“Arghhhhhh” he shrieked in pain.

It must have been just a couple of seconds that the sky and the ground exchanged places in my vision.

I was violently thrown off the horse hitting the ground and skidding a bit ahead.

I saw the horse crying lying by its side, bleeding profusely from the place where should have been its legs.

Squelch! Slosh!..

Sound of heels hitting the soft grass came from my right.

I slowly turned my head only two see two red glowing eyes.

“It seems you wish to ascend to heaven faster, old man” the scarred man raised his sword.

The guillotine descended

I closed my eyes expecting death.

However

THWACK! CRUNCH!

“Don’t worry Hayato-san, now I will handle him” I heard a completely unexpected voice.

I opened my eyes and saw two grey eyes in front of me.

“Arin?” I barely mustered up my voice.

He nodded and turned around while a grey glow enveloped him.
