CHAPTER 36: Gonna beat the shit out of you

Clang! ARGHHHHH!

Screams filled my surroundings, I moved my eyes and saw the bandits surrounding us falling one by one.

“Seriously Arin, If you wouldn’t have alerted us. I don’t know what would have happened” Hayato-san said to me.

I had already alerted them before hand.

It was our good luck that these guys weren’t trained knights and that our soldiers far exceeded them in Martial power.

I stood up my robe swaying with the wind. My long black hair covered my face as I tried to calm down my raging heartbeat.

‘I killed a person’ the thought disgusted me to the core, but if I hadn’t done so I would have been the one to die.

I looked at the corpse of the man I killed.

His eyes were still open, devoid of any light.

I crouched and closed them.

“My lord, the cleanup is complete” Hassan bowed while reporting.

“Dig up a hole and toss these corpses there” I commanded.

The remaining rats were silenced by our escorting soldiers, including the hidden ones who used blowguns.

We packed up and started on our journey again since we were more than awake after such an incident.

The unconscious guards were carried by the ones who were awake, tying their bodies to themselves after mounting on the horses.

The carriage moved forward under the gaze of the starlight.

I closed my eyes, reminiscing about the recent moments.

‘What was that?’ I thought.

When our escorting soldiers ran to chase the remaining bandits, a strange glow enveloped them and their figure blurred directly appearing near the bandits and finishing them up in an inhumane speed.

Another memory resurfaced within me as if to answer the question.

An arena, small by no means, in that stood two people, one man and one woman. They both took the stance and a grown man blew the whistle.

Immediately after the signal a strange glow different in color began to emit from both.

Their figures blurred and-

“My lord?” Hassan shook me awake.

“Hmm? What happened?” I asked.

“Please freshen up and have breakfast” he urged.

I saw the outside no longer was veiled in moonlight.

Sun had risen high up in the sky.

“How much more time is it gonna take, I mean to reach Vaeldor Principalities? Lord Daniel?” A soldier asked me.

A senior knight who was travelling by his side hit him in the head.

“That’s not the way you talk to a Royal Messenger” He reprimanded.

I looked at the map and answer flowed naturally as the mathematics completed in my head

“Today at night we will reach Vaeldor principalities” I said while smiling as the senior knight continued to discipline the younger generation.

“Halt!” a knight clad in steel armor stopped our carriage.

I stepped out to show them papers and the moment I showed them the papers and the royal insignia, their back straightened.

“M-my apologies” the guard quickly gave the signal to open the gates.

I was about to step up the carriage.

Pitter-Patter

I heard a slow rhythmic pelting on the roof of the carriage.

“Seriously? This is fourth time already today!” the guard of principality complained in a defeated tone.

“Welcome to Vaeldor Principality or should I say the residence of the god of Rain.” The other guard mocked him.

“Ughhh!” he went two steps behind and stood under a stone shelter coming out of the thick wall.

I sat inside, the pelting on the roof becoming louder by the minute.

“FRESH APPLES, A KILO FOR 30 COPPER COINS!” yelled a young man.

The air was chilling and wet. We pulled out our blankets and covered ourselves with them.

But the escorting soldiers weren’t lucky.

“L-l-lord Daniel” the young recruit looked at me with pleading eyes.

I tried to ignore him but I swear I saw stars twinkling in those eyes.

“Someone go ahead and look if there is a hotel nearby” I said casually.

“A hotel?” all of the guards looked at me in confusion.

I quickly corrected my mistake.

“I mean look for a place to stay”

One soldier nodded and propelled ahead of us.

The sky was dark and mild rain still continued.

I inhaled the smell of soil which was my personal drug in every life.

“1 silver for the rooms and 2 silver for dinner and breakfast included” said a young and a beautiful woman in an apron.

I looked at the escorting guards, who were washed clean in the rain.

“Can you also do something about the wet clothes?” I asked in perfect western dialect.

Her smile widened as if she was waiting for me to ask that.

“Of course sir he-“

THWACK CRASHHH!

“As I thought, you still look beautiful Rurina” a young man broke the gate.

He ignored us and walked towards the woman on the other side of the counter.

“I am back” he said with a wide grin, his arms were thick and his stature was tall and strong.

He wore a plain thin piece of cloth which barely hid his abs and comfortable loose pants.

He was wet but it didn’t looked like it bothered him in the least.

“What do you want?” the lady at the counter or Miss Rurina went straight to the point, her voice filled with bitterness.

“Hey I was wrong, I mean I know I was at fault but you know.” He paused for a breath and continued.

“I have learnt and matured while I served at the Frostgate hold” He scratched his cheek and then grabbed her hand.

“Come on now I want to show you something, come with me” He began to drag her while she resisted in vain in front of his massive strength.

“Let go of me!” Miss Rurina tried to protest but he kept dragging her that is until.

“Hmm?” he felt an arm on his wrist.

“SHE SAYS SHE DOESN’T WANT TO GO!” I said my voice breaking Miss Rurina’s pleas.

The tall man turned towards me, the temperature dropped.

He grabbed my collar.

“You are gonna stop me?” his voice dropped mockingly.

“No, I am gonna beat the shit out of you”
