Late at night, three days before the New Year, Yako returned to the Crane Moon Izakaya.

Kyoi was closing the izakaya's front doors when she spotted Beikyoku. She ran over, her face lighting up with joy.

"I heard the final battle is over! The war in the Land of Whirlpools has ended!" she said. "Beikyoku, did you just get back from the battlefield there?"

Yako swept Kyoi into his arms and kicked the doors shut with his heel, lowering his voice.

"Kyoi, you aren't a spy anymore. Why are you still asking where I went and what missions I took?"

"Your most pressing task right now is to prepare yourself, because I'm about to give you everything in my sack!"

"Haha." Kyoi's eyes sparkled. The war was over—it was finally over. She teased, "Everything in your sack? Is it a proper sack?"

"For you, I've been holding it in for months..."
