Chapter 56: Is This What a Ninja Is?
Yako once again pulled up the mission logs for the Black Ape Squadron.
The active operations—including the surveillance of the Uzumaki Princess and the investigation into the Hidden Stone Village's espionage network—contained several assignments he had not participated in.
Scanning the reports, his eyes locked onto a familiar name: Kyoi.
Kyoi's identity as a spy had indeed fallen under Anbu suspicion. However, to maintain the current trap, suspected spies with low threat levels like her had not been cleared out.
Within Kyoi's investigation file, Yako also found his own name.
Leaf Monkey's squad had monitored Kyoi and spotted him at her izakaya. In his report, Leaf Monkey noted that Fox's movements were suspicious.
Beneath that entry, Black Ape had written his own assessment: Fox had suspected Kyoi's background during a previous mission and was likely continuing to investigate in secret.
Later, Yako had brought Captain Black Ape to the izakaya, where they uncovered a Cloud Ninja spy. Following that spy, they successfully recovered the abducted Uzumaki Princess.
At the end of the investigation scroll was the squadron captain's conclusion: Fox was clean, and there was no need for suspicion. If Fox were truly a spy, was there a target of higher value than the Uzumaki Princess?
