Chapter 31: Mutual Destruction
Uzumaki Yuka quickened her pace, stepping up behind Uzumaki Choro.
"Elder, I've thought about it again and again, and too many things about tonight don't add up. Our reconnaissance squads on the coasts of the Land of Waves and the Land of Whirlpools were wiped out at the exact same moment. They didn't send back a single piece of intel.
"There is only one possibility. The Mist Ninja and Cloud Ninja had accurate intelligence and killed all the scout ninjas simultaneously.
"Either we have a spy in our village leaking secrets, or Hidden Leaf intentionally gave them the information!"
Uzumaki Choro was quite old, her eyes normally somewhat clouded, but upon hearing Uzumaki Yuka's speculation, they suddenly sharpened.
Lately, far too many strange things had happened around Uzushiogakure, and it all began after Shimura Danzo arrived in the village.
After his arrival, Danzo first made two unreasonable demands: one was for Princess Kushina to go to Konoha, and the other was to share their secret sealing techniques.
Both demands were rejected by the clan head. Princess Kushina was meant to become Uzushiogakure's jinchuriki. Princess Mito had wasted away in Konoha for decades, and in the end, Uzushiogakure gained absolutely nothing from it.
As for the secret sealing techniques, handing them over to Danzo was completely out of the question.
