In the original story, the Hidden Rain Village under Pain's rule had towering, pipe-like buildings, and the entire village encircled the vast lake, turning it into an inland body of water.
The current Hidden Rain Village didn't even occupy a third of the lake's shoreline.
This was the very lake where Konan would hide six hundred billion Explosive Tags in the original story.
Not only was the village small, but it lacked any tall buildings. The structures were crude and radiated a sense of long-neglected decay.
