Chapter 65: Times Up
Samantha gritted her teeth heavily when she heard Ray’s despicable words.
How dare he claim she was stalling for time when he was the one who constantly took more than 28 seconds to think of a move?
Even in the beginning phase, he was taking his sweet time, constantly dragging the time.
Had she known he was going to be a staller, she wouldn’t have agreed on having a timer out. Instead, she would just say unlimited time.
That way, she could just excuse herself now and take care of the bladder.
’Wait a second, as a Mage, even if I have an upset tummy, I shouldn’t be struggling this much.’ Suddenly, as if a thunderbolt had struck her mind, she realized something.
There was only one possible factor as to why she was suddenly affected.
The food she had just consumed!!!
And where did that food come from?
FUCKING RAYMOND!
’This villainous bastard poisoned the food and even wanted to charge me for it??!’ Samantha was beyond flabbergasted and stunned by such behavior.
[+50 Villain Points]
’Whoa, such a huge increase.’ Ray was surprised by the sudden leap in points he gained.
’Haha, as expected of the heroine. It seemed like she figured out the food she ate was bad news, and suspected me right away. How could she wrong me, though? The laxatives were clearly added by Belva. I’m so innocent.’ He thought to himself.
Truly, only the honest people get taken advantage of and become the target of criticism, as always.
Why did he have to be such an honest person?
Soon, with less than a second left on his timer, Ray finally moved a pawn one space up.
"You are so despicable..." Samantha hissed coldly. For that one move, it took him 29 seconds in total to make?
This wasn’t even considered a classical chess move! This was just him blatantly wasting time and stalling the clock!
While Ray took the majority of the time, Samantha quickly made her move in less than 2 seconds.
Once again, it was Ray’s turn.
And Samantha was instantly ticked off when Ray decided to lean on his arm to sleep.
"It’s your turn!" Samantha nearly crashed out at his behavior, only to regret her action.
Gugugugulug~
Her stomach became even more terrible—worse than cramps at this rate.
"Belva, what were the laxatives supposed to help?" At this moment, Ray suddenly asked Belva.
"It’s meant to clear out any impurities inside the stomach. It works extremely well for those with high mana because there are cases when those with strong mana failed to extract the impurities from how potent they are." Belva explained.
"Ah, so if it works great, it simply means they were talented?"
"That would be correct!"
"Wow, our Broke Sam is so talented. I hope she doesn’t bomb the toilet, you know." Ray giggled silly.
BOOM!
Samantha finally exploded and slammed her palm on the table.
The explosive sound quickly attracted quite a crowd, but they all turned around when they noticed her fierce killing expression.
Although they were considered senior, they knew better than to provoke someone when they were in a foul mood.
Nevertheless, they still subtly watched the scene because people were curious animals.
How could they miss watching a drama scene?
"Where are you going, Broke Sam?" Ray asked devilishly.
Samantha remained silent, but Ray certainly knew how to press her button.
"Belva, what happens if someone consumes the laxatives and refuses to excrete those impurities?" He asked in a melodious voice.
"They will suffer from mana implosion. It can become deadly, and I don’t think any clever person who consumed it would wish to delay the matter." Belva responded and glanced at Samantha sympathetically.
"Oh, don’t you use such eyes toward me." Samantha gnashed her teeth and warned Belva. She was certain that it was Belva who laced the food.
She might not be a powerful Mage, but her senses were very high. For her to not detect it until now proved that Belva had cleverly hidden the action from her.
It couldn’t be Ray because he was definitely trash. She could barely sense or perceive him as a threat, which made her underestimate his evilness.
"Oh, 2 seconds left!" Ray suddenly lifted his head and moved the same pawn one space forward.
"Phew, saved. It would have been really terrible if I lost by the time, right?" He then wiped off the imaginary sweat on his forehead.
[+20 Villain Points]
"I’ll remember this debt, Ray." Samantha clenched her fist tightly and dashed to the ladies’ restroom.
Her action was no different than forfeiting the game because she would lose by time for not moving a piece.
"Bahwahahaha, I am indeed an expert in chess!" He burst out laughing.
"Hmm, why are you not clapping your hands to praise me?"
Clap! Clap! Clap!
"Impressive, Young Master Ray. You are indeed the best." Belva suppressed her true emotion and clapped her hands to congratulate his victory.
Such an underhanded win, only a real villain would bask in it.
"Kakaka, of course, I’m the best. The winner gets to have the last laugh, no matter what~" Ray laughed heartily and watched as the timer went down to 0.
"Ding ding ding! Time’s up, and my opponent has yet to make a move. How depressing that she knew she lost so badly and left midway?" He shook his head and lamented in regret.
’Even under such conditions, Young Master... you lost the majority of your pieces. You are the one who is terrible at chess.’ Belva could totally see a 5-year-old kid beating him down like it was nothing.
’Oy, System, what are you waiting for? My opponent has been defeated, so shouldn’t I be able to devour one of their skills? In fact, I should have gotten it the first time when I checkmated her in one move.’ Ray finally called out to the system for being negligent.
[The host is beyond shameless to even demand for a devouring skill.]
’Hello, I’m a Villain Extra, not a Hero Extra. You think I’d play fair and square when that’s not even my character setting? You might as well tell Chasing Star to bring me back to my world so I can slack for real.’ He sneered inwardly.
