Chapter 117 - 51: Peach Blossom Promise, an Octopus-Like Sleeping Posture

Jiang Li had always been the type to do as she pleased, saying whatever came to mind without much forethought.

Hearing Shen Yanzhi’s accusation, she finally realized just how hurtful her words had been.

’If Shen Yanzhi had said something like that to her, she probably would have run away from home.’

She quickly explained, "That’s not what I meant."

Seeing Shen Yanzhi’s dark expression, she grew anxious and fidgety. "I just meant that if you spoil me rotten, and you’re not by my side in the future, I might not even be able to go out on my own."

Shen Yanzhi glanced at Jiang Li. "That’s a hypothetical that will never happen, unless you divorce me."

As long as Jiang Li didn’t bring up divorce, he would never let her go.

Jiang Li looked at Shen Yanzhi with some surprise. "You’re that certain?"

Shen Yanzhi nodded. "We have a long life ahead of us. We can use a lifetime to prove it."

Jiang Li couldn’t help but touch her slightly burning earlobes. ’This guy... throwing out a sweet line or two every now and then. Is he afraid I haven’t fallen for him hard enough?’

Seeing that Shen Yanzhi wasn’t as angry as before, the two of them finally left and took a taxi straight to a bar.

The moment they stepped inside, they were hit by loud music that made you want to move to the rhythm.

Jiang Li leaned close to Shen Yanzhi and shouted over the noise, "What do you think? It’s pretty hype, right?"

Although Shen Yanzhi was quite pleased with their proximity, he still frowned and said, "It’s just a little loud."

Afraid that Shen Yanzhi didn’t like this kind of atmosphere, Jiang Li immediately said, "Then let’s get a private room. It’s not as loud in there."

Shen Yanzhi shook his head. "It’s fine. Let’s just stay out here."

’Even though we’re the same age, compared to Jiang Li, I feel like an old man. I can’t muster any interest in this at all.’

If he weren’t here with Jiang Li, he wouldn’t have even set foot inside.

He had seen it when they first walked in—Jiang Li’s body had swayed involuntarily a couple of times.

They found a waiter, got a booth, and ordered two specialty cocktails and a couple of snacks.

They had just sat down when the waiter came over with two drinks. "For our two distinguished guests, these are your ’Peach Blossom Vows.’ Please enjoy."

Jiang Li picked up her glass and studied it for a moment. "The name is nice, but I wonder how it tastes."

Shen Yanzhi raised his glass with a faint smile and clinked it against Jiang Li’s. "Only one way to find out."

Jiang Li took a sip, her eyes widening in surprise. "Oh my god, I can’t believe a cocktail could taste this good!"

Afraid that Jiang Li would down it all in one go, Shen Yanzhi quickly stopped her. "Drink it slowly. Cocktails have a strong kick. Don’t get drunk."

Jiang Li raised an eyebrow at Shen Yanzhi. "Don’t worry, I know my limit!"

The corner of Shen Yanzhi’s mouth twitched. ’That’s exactly why I’m worried.’

On the stage, a chaotic crowd was dancing wildly. The DJ’s explosive dance music filled the air, and Jiang Li bobbed her head to the beat from time to time.

Her gaze swept over to Shen Yanzhi. "I’ve noticed you don’t seem to like this kind of place, do you?"

Shen Yanzhi took a sip of his drink and chuckled. "Maybe I’m just getting old. It feels a bit loud."

Jiang Li was at a loss for words, giving Shen Yanzhi a mock-reproachful glare. "Hey, buddy, we’re about the same age. If you say you’re getting old, does that mean you’re going to start complaining that I’m old in a few years?"

Shen Yanzhi waved his hands. "It won’t come to that, it won’t come to that."

In his heart, Jiang Li would always be 18.

Jiang Li clicked her tongue in dissatisfaction and raised her hand to signal the waiter. "Hi, can we get four more Peach Blossom Vows, please?"

’It’s my first time having such a delicious drink, and the alcohol content doesn’t even seem that high. I have to drink my fill.’

The waiter asked again, just to be sure, "Ma’am, are you certain?"

Jiang Li nodded. "Positive! Absolutely! And definitely!"

Hearing this, the waiter looked at Shen Yanzhi, as if hoping he would talk her out of it.

’Other people might not know, but how could they, the staff, not know?’

’It tastes great going down, but it goes straight to your head. The kick is massive.’

Shen Yanzhi nodded at the waiter. "It’s fine, go ahead and place the order."

As he spoke, he took out his phone to scan the code and pay.

His movements were incredibly swift.

Jiang Li propped her chin on her hand, tilting her head as she stared at Shen Yanzhi. "I thought you were going to stop me."

Shen Yanzhi chuckled. "Why would I stop you? If you want to drink, let’s drink until you’re satisfied."

Perhaps it was the alcohol going to her head, but Jiang Li suddenly leaned close to Shen Yanzhi and planted a smacking kiss on his lips. "Shen Yanzhi, you’re the best."

Shen Yanzhi swallowed hard and asked tentatively, "Are you drunk?"

Jiang Li shook her head. "Nope, I’m totally sober!"

Seeing her in this state, Shen Yanzhi knew that Jiang Li was already tipsy. Otherwise, she would never have been so bold.
