Chapter 357: Yo, It’s So Lively at Home
’Honorary granddaughter-in-law...’
It was the first time Shen Nian had ever heard such a title. But hearing Chu Zhengwei say it, she finally understood why Lu Cheng had told her to just call him "Grandpa."
’Lu Cheng and the members of the Chu Family must have reached some sort of decision during their conversation just now!’
’However, judging by their expressions, everything seemed normal. The situation was likely under their control.’
"Thank you, Grandpa!"
Shen Nian smiled at Chu Zhengwei. ’For him to say something like that,’ she thought, ’his first impression of me must be pretty good!’
"We’re family, there’s no need for such formalities!"
The rest of the Chu Family breathed a sigh of relief when they heard Chu Zhengwei’s words. They liked Shen Nian, that was certain, but the most crucial part was whether Mr. Chu liked her.
This was truly a happy outcome for everyone!
"Right, I heard you all saying just now that Nian made something delicious?"
Satisfied after hearing Shen Nian call him "Grandpa," Chu Zhengwei’s gaze fell back on the rose cakes on the table. He swallowed again, obviously wanting to have a taste.
Sharing Chu Zhengwei’s tastes, Gao Ruolan was naturally the first to understand what he meant.
"Dad, these are rose cakes that Xiao Nian made. They’re made from rose petals. Would you like to try one?"
"Made from rose petals?"
Chu Zhengwei’s eyes lit up. He knew Gao Ruolan grew many flowers, but this was the first time he had ever seen pastries made from them. He wanted to give them a try.
"Grandpa, these cakes are very soft, and they aren’t too rich. You can try one."
Shen Nian was confident in her creations. Seeing Mr. Chu’s eager expression, she picked up a small saucer and placed it right in front of Chu Zhengwei.
With the treat placed right in front of him, and by his honorary granddaughter-in-law whom he’d just met, Chu Zhengwei no longer stood on ceremony. He picked one up and popped it into his mouth.
Seeing Chu Zhengwei dig in, the others didn’t hold back and started helping themselves.
Then came the second piece, and the third. It wasn’t until someone was on their fourth cake that a voice finally broke the silence.
"Delicious! This is absolutely delicious! I never thought pastries made from flowers could be this good!"
Shen Nian tried one, too, but she only ate a single piece. The flavor was quite good, even a bit better than the standard she had reached in her past life.
Watching everyone around her devour one cake after another, Shen Nian couldn’t help but feel relieved she had made them bite-sized. Otherwise, she’d genuinely have to worry about them choking!
"Nian, you have to come visit us often from now on!"
Even Chu Zhengwei said this to Shen Nian. The subtext was obvious: ’And when you do, make some more of these delicious treats!’
"If you like them, Grandpa, I can make some more in a little while. There are other flowers in the garden, so I can try making different flavors."
Chu Zhengwei felt a pang of regret after he said that. After all, Shen Nian was their guest today; it seemed improper to have a guest make pastries for them.
But upon hearing that Shen Nian was going to make other flavors, they immediately took back that little bit of regret.
’Other flavors... I want to try them...’
"Oh, it’s so lively in here! What is that? It smells so good!"
Just as they were all happily eating, a young woman’s voice suddenly called out from the doorway.
Shen Nian looked up to see a fashionably dressed girl, about her own age, walking in.
