Chapter 265: Everyone Has to Die [BONUS CHAPTER]
"Everyone has to die."
The captain murmured under his breath. He cut off the autopilot, disabled the aircraft's horizontal trim, removed flight stabilization, and pushed the control stick forward into a dive.
A rapid beeping alarm instantly rang through the cabin, and the green autopilot icon on the screen went dark.
The plane suddenly pitched downward.
The copilot watched in stunned disbelief as it all happened. He had never imagined the captain would do something like this, and only when he felt the crushing force of the dive did he finally snap back to his senses.
"Chris, what the hell are you doing?"
He roared and instinctively grabbed the control stick on his side, using all his strength to pull it up, trying to force the plane back into level flight.
The dual control sticks of a civilian airliner restrained each other, but the copilot found that the captain's strength was strangely great. The left control stick would not move, as if it had been welded in place.
The plane was diving toward the ground at high speed. The fuselage shook violently, and the piercing stall warning echoed through the cockpit.
The copilot gritted his teeth and desperately pushed the throttle back up, corrected the trim, and tried every rescue action he could, but none of it worked. No matter how hard he fought, he could not cancel out the captain's fatal dive. He could only watch as the plane's nose dropped lower and lower, plunging rapidly toward the ground.
Clearly, the abnormal state of the passenger plane was noticed by the flight tower, and they quickly contacted the cockpit.
Aside from the tower, Terra's Information Center had also received a warning from the artificial intelligence Veronica.
The Information Center immediately reported it.
Soon, an order was sent to the Grey Knights Warband.
…
Hoarse screams rang through the passenger cabin. Cries and shouts filled the air without end.
The mutants who had been happily chatting, eating snacks, drinking juice, and talking about the future suddenly found the plane entering a steep dive. The abrupt change filled them all with fear.
They had no idea what had happened.
But they knew this situation was extremely dangerous and deadly.
Several flight attendants inside the cabin had been thrown away and injured.
"AAAAHHH! Help! Somebody help us!"
"Fuck, what's going on? Did the plane malfunction?"
"Emperor above, I don't want to die yet!"
Terrified screams rang out one after another.
The delicate faces of Lorna and Clarice had gone pale as well. They pressed tightly against their seats, holding hands with their eyes shut, both filled with fear.
The snacks that had been placed on the tray tables in front of them had already scattered everywhere.
At that moment, Polaris Lorna opened her eyes. She pulled her hand free from Clarice's grip, startling her. Clarice turned to look, only to see Lorna struggling to grab her own wrist.
She understood at once.
"You want to remove the inhibitor?" Clarice shouted.
"Yeah. My ability might be able to control this plane."
As Lorna answered, she forcefully removed the watch-like inhibitor strapped to her wrist.
The next moment, a green glow appeared in her pupils.
Then she stretched out her hand and activated her ability.
Lorna's ability was very powerful. She could control magnetic fields and generate force fields—the same kind of ability as Magneto.
But compared with Magneto, Lorna's ability was far too weak.
She tried to focus and control the crashing passenger plane, but she could not do it.
Sweat covered her forehead, and her chest rose and fell quickly.
No matter how hard she tried, she could not stop the plane from falling. At most, she only made it tremble slightly.
"Damn it. I can't do it."
Lorna, the scraping-damage girl, gave up. She panted heavily, her face full of frustration.
Clarice hesitated, then reached out and removed her own inhibitor.
"Maybe I can try."
"Huh?" Lorna looked at her in disbelief. "Are you trying to get us killed even faster?"
During their conversation earlier, Clarice had already told Lorna what her ability was.
She could freely open wormhole-like portals connecting two points.
But she usually needed to have seen the destination or at least remember it clearly.
And Blink's ability was also unstable. She could only open a portal around two meters wide, which was fine for letting one person leave. But right now, this was an entire plane.
More than three hundred people.
On top of that, because the plane was diving, everyone was being pressed into their seats and could not move at all.
Even if Blink opened a portal, no one could leave.
Clarice paused at those words, then said seriously, "Maybe we can work together and send some people out first..."
Her voice gradually trailed off as she realized the plane's descent was beginning to slow. It was even leveling out.
Clarice quickly turned her head and looked out through the window.
Then she suddenly realized the surroundings had changed.
They seemed to have arrived at a completely unfamiliar place.
An unfamiliar airport.
Clarice was not the only one. The other passengers also noticed it. The panicked screams, crying, and sobbing slowly faded.
Soon, the plane shook slightly, as if it had landed.
After a brief daze, everyone was stunned to find that they were no longer sitting in their seats inside the passenger plane.
Somehow, they were standing on an open airport runway.
Beside them was a familiar passenger plane.
The very Boeing aircraft they had all been riding in.
"That's…"
Lorna's gaze sharpened. She raised her head and saw a huge circle above the plane, sparks burning around its edge. Beyond the circle were towering clouds.
The circle quickly shrank, and a figure descended from within it, floating in the air right above the passenger plane.
A sudden realization flashed through her mind like lightning.
"Where is this?"
"Oh my God, we're saved."
"Who did this?"
"Look, who is that?"
"He's wearing armor. That's… a Grey Knight. He's a soldier of the Grey Knights warband."
"The Grey Knights saved us."
"Where are we? Is this Terra?"
Whether it was the rescued mutants or the flight attendants who had survived the disaster, they all saw the figure floating above the plane, just like Lorna did.
The moment they noticed the fitted black armor and hooded coat on him, almost everyone recognized him.
It was the signature armor of the Grey Knights Warband.
Everyone cried out in shock.
While they were still stunned, Humvees and electric transport vehicles drove over.
Large numbers of fully armed soldiers got out.
Among them, a woman in a suit and glasses came before the crowd. She glanced at the Grey Knight above the passenger plane, then raised a hand to adjust her glasses and spoke to the mutants.
"Welcome to Terra. A small accident happened just now."
"But you are all safe now. Please get in the vehicles. We will take you to your residence. Homes and fresh clothes have already been prepared for you."
