Chapter 259: Earth Is Truly Dangerous—The X-Men Who Feel No Sense of Safety [BONUS CHAPTER]
Boom!
On a vast, empty stretch of land, two figures were fighting wildly.
One was Reacher, without his power armor. His muscular upper body was bare, and he wore only shorts and shoes. The other, unexpectedly, was Juggernaut.
Reacher's height had already surpassed that of an ordinary human, standing at nearly two meters.
But Juggernaut stood a full 2.87 meters tall, nearly three meters, and weighed more than 860 kilograms with his massive build—a true tank, more violent than any actual tank could ever be.
Juggernaut was not a mutant. On the contrary, he had a strange grudge against Professor X because he was Professor X's stepbrother.
His original name was Cain Marko.
He and Professor X were brothers in name only. Cain Marko's father had married Professor X's mother for her wealth, and the two had no blood relation.
Their relationship had been bad since childhood.
Later, after a series of experiences, Juggernaut happened to come into contact with a red gem, and it completely changed Cain.
His body became what it was today, and he gained an indestructible physique and terrifying strength.
Juggernaut's exact strength was unknown, but it was estimated to be well over a hundred tons.
At the same time, he possessed super speed, super stamina, an invulnerable body, super healing, and no need to breathe, eat, or drink. He never grew tired, nor did he need sleep. He was also immune to aging.
More importantly, he possessed unstoppable force. He was the embodiment of unstoppable power. Once he began moving in a certain direction, almost no force could stop him. Only magic and certain physical factors could bring him to a halt.
Of course, that "unstoppability" was not absolute—it was merely a way to describe him.
Because Reacher had the strength to stop him.
Boom!
Reacher's right fist was coated in a dark sheen, carrying more than one hundred and fifty tons of force as it crashed toward Juggernaut. Even the air along its path erupted with a thunderous boom.
Juggernaut, his head completely encased in a metal helmet, let out a roar and answered with a punch of his own, refusing to give an inch.
The instant their fists collided, terrifying shockwaves erupted outward from the point of impact. The ground beneath their feet sank as dense cracks spread wildly in every direction.
A violent gale swept across the battlefield.
Reacher, the Supreme Commander, fought Juggernaut in the simplest, most brutal way imaginable. He did not dodge. Every blow was met head-on, flesh against flesh.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Though clearly different in size, the two titans exchanged a relentless barrage of punches. Shockwaves erupted from every collision like a raging tide, obliterating everything in their path.
Fortunately, the battlefield was a vast, empty expanse, so nothing else was destroyed.
But the overwhelming spectacle left the people watching from afar completely stunned.
"Oh... my... God. Are they even human?"
Ororo Munroe, the Black Pearl beauty, stared with her eyes wide open.
Logan was no different, nor was Colossus, the powerfully built young man encased in metal armor.
Standing beside them were Matthew, Natasha, Neagley, Carrie, and Rogue—Anna Marie.
Since Carrie was currently on break and had been begging to come to Terra, Matthew simply brought her along to watch the fight between Reacher and Juggernaut.
As for Rogue, she had been invited along at the last minute.
After Rogue was taken away back then, she did not choose to go to school. Because of her special ability, if she accidentally touched someone's skin, she could drain their life force, which was extremely dangerous.
So she was brought back to the base to be carefully trained and educated.
The Technology Department had been studying her and had matched her with a serum, but they had not injected it yet. They were still observing her.
The girl was very young. Her personality was still unstable and immature.
So she needed a period of study and guidance. Only after confirming that her personality had matured enough could they inject the serum and officially begin the next stage of training.
This was Rogue's own choice. Ever since she ran away from home, she had seen too much darkness. She longed to control her ability and become stronger.
The reason she could come here was that she happened to meet Carrie. Friendship between girls could grow that quickly. A few words and similar experiences were enough for their relationship to advance rapidly.
I didn't piss off this big guy last time, did I?
Logan, the tough man watching the fight, held an unlit cigar between his teeth and silently thought back.
No matter how he looked at it, Juggernaut's strength was not something he could match.
Although he had an indestructible Adamantium skeleton and abnormal self-healing, he still kept his sense of pain.
If he fought a violent type like that, Logan felt he probably would not have a good time.
"Wow. So this is the Empire's highest-level combat power?" Carrie stared with her large, bright eyes, too excited to contain herself.
Rogue Marie was just as shocked.
After all, she had been here for quite some time, but she had never personally witnessed a battle of this scale.
If Matthew hadn't been standing nearby to protect them, she felt the stray shockwaves from the fight alone would have been enough to crush her.
"Juggernaut isn't a mutant?" Natasha crossed her arms, her slender brows arching in surprise.
She wasn't entirely sure. She had only sensed a very strange power from him.
At the very least, it felt different from the power of the mutants she knew.
"No. His power comes from another ancient god," Matthew said, shaking his head.
Juggernaut's power came from Cyttorak, the ruler of the Crimson Cosmos.
In the Crimson Cosmos, his strength was even greater than Galactus, though he was still below the four great abstract entities.
The medium through which he transmitted his power was the crimson gem.
As long as someone touched the gem, they would become Juggernaut, just like Cain.
That was right. This Cyttorak was also the one behind one of Kamar-Taj's high-level spells, the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak.
But unlike other dimensional demon gods, Juggernaut was not Cyttorak's representative.
Instead, he was little more than a machine for harvesting faith and spreading violence.
Cyttorak drew power from worship and acts of violence. Every act of destruction Juggernaut committed on Earth directly strengthened him.
Beyond that, Juggernaut was perhaps nothing more than a tool.
At certain times, Cyttorak could use Juggernaut to test other strong beings or fight dimensional opponents.
In any case, he was very powerful, and also a rather abstract ancient god.
To be fair, Earth was basically a giant pot, stewing all kinds of messy people inside it.
Thankfully, Earth was tough enough. Otherwise, it would have been finished who knew how many times by now.
Matthew explained Juggernaut's origin to Natasha without any concern.
Logan and the others beside them exchanged looks, once again feeling that Earth was truly dangerous. They even began to miss the pure, ignorant days of the past.
Sure enough, the closer one got to the truth, the more fear and madness followed.
If ordinary people learned this much information, they would probably have fallen into despair long ago.
At that moment, everyone shared the same thought.
They had to remain loyal. They had to cling tightly to Matthew's thigh. Otherwise, there would be no way to survive. There would be no sense of security at all.
