Chapter 238: No One Can Arrange Her Fate, Lilith

Besides that, Lilith could use bloodline and mind as a link to connect all the Lilin, forming an instant hive mind—a network for command, enhancement, and revival.

This was the advantage that allowed Lilith to become an ally of a Hell Lord on Mephisto's level, something other demons in the same general tier could not compare with.

Of course, allies were allies. When it came to scheming against each other, demons were far worse than humans.

Watching an ally suffer was practically custom and tradition.

The same was true for Mephisto.

"Great Emperor of Terra, your presence is as overwhelming as ever. Your aura remains so scorching hot—so hot that it practically ignites the spark of what humans call love."

A sweet, desire-laden voice drifted through the air.

It spread across the skies of Hell like a slow-acting poison, gradually eroding the majesty of Matthew's imperial will.

Lilith had appeared.

She stood high in the sky, and the endless falling lightning seemed to avoid her. Even the thunder seemed unwilling—almost reluctant—to strike her.

She simply raised a hand, and the violent thunder became gentle.

Unlike the old, decayed body that had possessed Carrie's mother before, Lilith's current appearance was completely different.

She stood around one meter eighty tall, with a straight, graceful figure, gentle curves, a slender waist, narrow shoulders, and long limbs.

Her sharply defined oval face was a mesmerizing shade of gray. Rather than diminishing her beauty, it only added to her mysterious charm.

She wore a black sleeveless bodysuit that accentuated the lines of her shoulders and back, draped with a thin veil that flickered like green flames. She was barefoot.

Apart from the skin on her face, the rest of her body was a dark shade of gray, covered in ancient dark-yellow arcane patterns. Her hair drifted gently around her.

The first time anyone met Lilith's eyes, they would be drawn in.

And once they were, there was no escaping them.

This was Lilith—the Mother of Demons, Queen of Hell.

An ancient and powerful primeval demon.

No one could resist her gaze.

But Matthew did not fall for it.

His expression remained cold, without the slightest change.

His voice thundered beside Lilith's ears.

"Lilith, you know why I came. If this is your explanation, then let it be war."

Rumble!

As his words fell, the terrifying sea of thunder surged violently. Thunderclaps rolled across the sky one after another. At the same time, Matthew's overwhelming will erupted.

He no longer held back his boundless will. His Conqueror's Haki was unleashed in full.

The violent surge of Conqueror's Haki sent all of Hell trembling. Across the ground, countless weaker demons who had already collapsed were torn apart by the sheer force of its aura.

Even the demons watching from afar were caught off guard. Some collapsed unconscious, while others died on the spot.

Space itself twisted and blurred, as though it feared him.

The Emperor's wrath could only be quenched with blood.

"Damn it, run! That human is too strong!"

"What a powerful aura. Is… is this the power of will?"

"I've never seen this kind of power before. I didn't expect a human to turn will into a weapon. No, we can't stay here any longer."

The demons sensed the terrifying will Matthew had unleashed and fled in panic, frantically beating their wings.

Of course, many of them could no longer escape.

They might not have collapsed unconscious, but under the pressure of that overwhelming aura, they couldn't move. Their faces were filled with fear and despair.

A war between higher dimensions was never something lower-dimensional beings could witness. Any stray aura or clash of power could easily wipe out countless weaker bystanders.

Even the demons far away were like this. As for Lilith, who was facing Matthew's full-powered Conqueror's Haki directly, she could not help putting away her earlier teasing attitude.

She became proper and serious.

She might be able to withstand this Conqueror's Haki, but the word "war," together with Matthew's firm attitude, left her no room to keep acting lightly.

Lilith immediately realized that the one standing before her now was not the next guardian of Earth who had yet to fully grow.

He was a powerful being who might already stand on the same dimensional level as herself.

Lilith could not accept a war with no benefit.

So she spoke, her expression very serious.

"I am her grandmother. I have never thought of harming my children or descendants. Every one of them is my precious wealth, Emperor of Terra."

Lilith's words were solemn. She did not even call him the guardian of Earth, but the Emperor of Terra.

It was clear that Lilith had always been watching Earth.

She also knew what had happened on Earth recently.

Lilith knew that Matthew was not only the guardian of Earth, but also the Emperor of a nation, one who possessed a powerful army.

Different from mankind's weak armies, it was a true army.

An army that could fight against her Lilin.

A conversation between leaders had to be solemn and serious.

Otherwise, it could easily start a war, and that consequence was something she could not accept.

Matthew narrowed his eyes at Lilith's explanation. His Observation Haki was fully open, and he could sense the sincerity in Lilith's words.

But Matthew still held on to his doubt.

Lies and deception were the means demons relied on to survive.

He never doubted that there were demons who could hide their lies and emotions. When it came to playing with emotions, demons were experts too.

Especially an ancient demon like Lilith.

"Continue."

Matthew replied coldly.

His attitude did not soften. He remained restrained, calm—and dangerous.

"She has unimaginable potential. The concentration of her bloodline surpasses that of any child I have ever given birth to. Any of them."

Lilith did not change because of Matthew's attitude. Instead, she remained sincere.

Even from such a great distance, it could be seen in her eyes, her expression, and her tone.

Matthew's face showed no ripple.

Did Matthew know what Lilith was talking about? He did. With his current level, he could clearly sense—could clearly "see"—the extraordinary potential hidden inside Carrie's body.

That was exactly why Matthew had taken Carrie in, insisted she go to school, and used friendship and human emotion to heal the scars in her heart.

He had seen this from the beginning.

But Lilith clearly did not think the same way.

"You protect her too much. She is destined to become a future Hell Lord. She is a born leader, and she will also be the next Queen of Hell after me. She should not be bound by so-called emotions."

"So that's why you used that method and tried to make her activate her bloodline your way?"

Matthew's voice was full of disdain.

His pupils glowed crimson, and his overwhelming Conqueror's Haki surged with his words.

"She is human, not a demon. She needs her own will. She does not need anyone to guide her or arrange her path."

"The first sixteen years of her life brought her pain. She was never happy. She should not be forced onto that path because someone claims it is 'for her own good,' Lilith."
