Chapter 189: The Overbearing World Destroyer

Professor X let out a sigh.

This old friend of his was still someone who planned ahead. He knew how to make up for his weaknesses.

In terms of resilience, Charles admired him.

If it had only been the two of them here today, given the current situation, that mutant girl would undoubtedly have been taken away by Magneto.

Without Charles's ability, Logan and the others were no match for Erik at all.

Fortunately, he also had some foresight.

"Give up, Erik. You won't succeed." Professor X repeated the words once more.

"What did you do?"

That seemingly unnecessary statement instead made Magneto wary, and he questioned Professor X in return.

"I notified them."

Professor X's words made Magneto's pupils widen slightly. Even Mystique and Sabretooth beside him had a change in expression.

All three of them thought of who "they" referred to.

"You… how dare you do this, Charles?"

Magneto was so furious that he laughed. His surging power instantly made the entire bar begin to shake, and large pieces of metal floated up uncontrollably.

The ordinary people inside the bar cried out in despair, desperate to flee at once. The metal spikes around their necks trembled, and they feared the spikes would lose control and pierce their throats.

"No!"

"Please!"

"Spare me, spare me! I didn't do anything! I'm innocent!"

"Erik!"

Seeing this, Professor X shouted angrily, making Magneto calm down slightly. The X-Men, who had been on guard and ready to attack, also let out a sigh of relief.

To be honest, an enraged Magneto frightened them too.

Soon, the violently shaking bar settled down again.

"Charles, you know this is our only chance to rise. And you actually want me to give it up?"

Magneto pulled the frightened girl over, grabbing her arm as he shouted angrily at Professor X.

"I absolutely will not allow you to do this, Erik. Your method will only drag all mutants into the abyss." Professor X knew that Magneto had almost gone mad for the mutant cause he obsessed over, so he patiently explained.

He took a deep breath and first looked at Marie, whose whole body was trembling with fear. His face carried a tired expression.

"Even if your experiment succeeds, then what?"

"You transform everyone into mutants, but have you considered whether they would be enraged? Do you think they are not human?"

"They can even be considered human?" Magneto sneered.

It was not meant as an insult—quite the opposite. Magneto had never seen any humans who possessed that kind of power. Their starting speed was already at sonic levels. A group of them could withstand his full abilities head-on, forcing him to enter overload mode just to suppress them. That young leader had nearly crushed him completely.

If those people were still human, then there would be no point in continuing his ideals. What rise to power? They could wipe him out in minutes.

But Professor X's single counter-question left Magneto silent.

"If they are not human, then what are they?"

"I will not give up. This may be the only chance in my life." Magneto spoke stubbornly.

Professor X was truly exhausted.

But before he could continue persuading him, an unfamiliar voice rang out.

"You should give up, Mr. Erik."

It was a very pleasant female voice.

The sudden voice made everyone present freeze. They instinctively looked toward the source and saw two people walking in through the door that Professor X and the others had pushed open and left unclosed.

One wore a thin leather jacket over a T-shirt, along with jeans.

The other was a silent, powerfully built man nearly two meters tall. His muscles looked as if they were about to burst through the sleeves of his jacket.

The girl had gradient blond hair tied into a ponytail and looked very young.

She wore black leather gloves on both hands, with pretty patterns embroidered on them.

The two walked up to Professor X and nodded in greeting. Professor X and Logan's group immediately nodded back.

Marie stared blankly. She could feel the change in atmosphere the moment these two arrived—both Professor X's side and Magneto beside her had shifted their attitudes.

"Marie?" The girl noticed Marie staring straight at her and raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, that's me. I'm Marie." Marie hurriedly answered.

"Good."

The girl gave no further response and instead looked at Magneto, whose face was full of vigilance. She tilted her little head slightly.

"So, Mr. Magneto, can you let Miss Marie go?"

"She looks rather uncomfortable."

"I've never seen you before." Magneto already had a guess in his heart, but he still maintained the dignity of Magneto.

"My name is Skye. Back in San Juan, the person you were looking for should have been me."

The newcomer was indeed Skye.

As for the man beside her, he was an Astartes accompanying her on this mission.

This mission had been something Skye had proactively applied for herself. Jessica had also wanted to come, but Commander Natasha refused to allow it. Still, it left Jessica so envious and jealous that she grabbed Skye by the neck and shook her hard for a long time, nearly shaking her brains loose.

"It's you?"

Magneto was stunned for a moment, then reacted with some surprise.

"You're one of them too?"

A mutant could actually join those monsters?

Magneto could sense that Skye's life magnetic field fluctuations were extremely strong—strong enough to match those freaks from before. The meaning was obvious.

"I think you've misunderstood. I'm not a mutant." Skye guessed what this old man was thinking and immediately shattered his fantasy.

Sure enough, Magneto was stunned again.

"How is that possible? Back then, I clearly…"

"Erik, Miss Skye is indeed not a mutant." Professor X confirmed Skye's words.

He could sense a person's brainwaves, and mutants had a unique brainwave frequency. Skye's brainwaves did not belong to a mutant.

Magneto was completely disappointed.

But then Skye unexpectedly added, "However, we do have quite a few mutants where I'm from."

Magneto's mood rose and fell like a roller coaster. Fortunately, his body was much stronger than an ordinary person's. Otherwise, at his age, being put through this might have sent him straight to the ICU.

After a long while, Magneto calmed himself.

He still stared at Skye without speaking.

"Magneto, I'm not negotiating with you." Skye's expression turned cold.

She clenched her right fist.

Crack~~

In an instant, the air around her fist shattered like a mirror. Without any visible movement, an invisible shockwave force instantly pierced through the ground and spread far into the distance outside the ba.

Rumble!

The terrifying shockwave erupted far away, violently shaking the earth. A series of immense booms rang out, and even without seeing the source, everyone could feel that terrifying energy.

The ordinary people in the bar turned deathly pale, feeling as though they could barely breathe.

Magneto stared fixedly at the white cracks that had appeared in the space around Skye's clenched fist.

An image flashed through his mind like lightning.

He remembered.

The night of the Manhattan incident.
