Chapter 164: Skye, Give Those Demons a Hit

"How is it? Still haven't found them?"

Reacher lowered his head and glanced at the demon corpse Neagley was stepping on, then looked up at her.

"No. That guy is hiding very well. Needy and several sorcerers are looking."

"But they need time."

"We have to think of a way to protect these civilians."

Neagley drew her other gun and kept pulling the triggers at the sky with both hands.

Dense bullets glowing orange-yellow shot out, accurately piercing through the heads of the attacking demons.

She raised her head and glanced at the inverted vortex. "We need to find a way to close that thing first. Otherwise, no matter how many of these demons we kill, they'll never end."

"The source is still with Kaecilius. We have to find them as soon as possible. For now, these things are weak, and we're enough to protect Manhattan. But if something stronger comes out, that may not be the case."

Even after the battle, Reacher's breathing had not changed in the slightest.

A battle at this level was far too easy for the Astartes.

The power armor might look heavy.

But in reality, because the magical runes and the armor's joint gears had all been built through precise calculations, it was not a burden at all. Instead, it made things easier for them.

The two Warbands had more than a thousand people. Protecting millions of civilians across a large area like Manhattan was not a problem.

There were even the sorcerers from Kamar-Taj helping them.

It looked dangerous, but in reality, there had basically been no casualties.

Even if there were any, they were the criminals who had been killed after fear and greed magnified their urge to commit crimes.

"Natasha, Bucky, Roscoe, how are things on your side?"

"No problem. Our defensive line is very stable."

"We're fine. Damn it, I saw that dog get killed. Those bastards."

"These things are appearing too quickly. We have to block that thing."

Hearing everyone's replies over the communication channel, Reacher did not respond again. He knew the situation was still under control.

"Those cops aren't bad. I remember the New York Police Commissioner is called George Stacy. That should be him. He hasn't been commissioner for long, and he's different from those other bastards who only know how to suck blood."

Neagley kept firing and eliminating demons as she spoke without turning her head.

Clearly, she had noticed George behind her.

As the Minister of Information, Neagley also paid attention to certain information outside of training and study.

With her current status and perspective, a police commissioner who could be considered an important figure to ordinary people was no different from a green-shelled turtle in the Yongding River to her.

She remembered him only because she had once happened to skim through his information.

Added to the fact that those NYPD officers had called him commissioner and Neagley had heard it, she recalled who he was.

This man had a decent reputation and a strong sense of responsibility.

Neagley had a fairly good impression of him.

"If everyone in the American government were like that, things would be much better. Unfortunately, the system is rotten. People like him can't rise up." Reacher responded coldly.

Many things he had experienced after retiring had made him understand that people with conscience could never truly climb to the top under the so-called system of freedom and democracy, much less accomplish anything.

Reacher had long been filled with disappointment toward it. Fortunately, he now had another choice.

Neagley knew what Reacher wanted to say, but she did not care much.

Suddenly, she noticed a large number of demons surging into Times Square from the distant sky, heading straight for George, the police, and the protected civilians.

"Tch. A bunch of brainless things." Neagley curled her lip.

Normally speaking, demons were cunning by nature and knew how to seek profit while avoiding danger.

In this short period of time, after these demons had arrived on Earth, they had already suffered wave after wave of slaughter at their hands, with corpses scattered everywhere. Yet they were still charging forward all at once.

That was because these demons were the lowest level in Hell.

They belonged to the kind that had only instinct and no brains.

If they really had brains, after seeing the kind of slaughter the two Warbands were carrying out, how would they still dare to charge forward?

Just look at the demons in the sky, flapping their wings in fear and uncertainty, not daring to fly down. They were clearly different.

Neagley stomped her right foot. The explosive force instantly turned her into a streak of red light that shot straight into the sky, tearing through the night. In everyone's eyes, that red glow was like a sharp cutting machine.

It harvested the lives of the dense swarm of demons above Times Square.

The physical strength of these low-level demons was far weaker than a soldier like Neagley, whose normal physique had nearly reached around one hundred tons of strength.

Combined with her long-mastered Six Powers and her combat suit, her killing power against these demons was no different from mowing grass.

In less than ten seconds, the brilliant red light shuttled back and forth through the sky, weaving into a beautiful and exquisite red net. Once that pattern was complete, all that remained were dense demon corpses falling from above.

The considerate Neagley, in order to prevent those corpses from crashing down onto the people in Times Square, had deliberately cut the demons into pieces.

It was cruelty born from mercy.

Neagley's figure descended from the sky and landed in front of the group of police officers. Facing the countless gazes focused on her, with all kinds of emotions mixed within them, she felt rather moved.

In a war like this, humans were far too small.

And she became even more determined that BOSS's grand blueprint had to be completed.

A battle of this scale was no longer something human armies could resist. They could not protect the people.

Standing at the very front, New York Police Commissioner George met Neagley's eyes and nodded.

He knew that at a time like this, he could not disturb this mysterious and powerful female warrior.

George and the other NYPD officers all knew they could not take part in a war at this level. So, as long as they did not hold anyone back, they had to ensure the safety of the civilians.

Mature and rational.

Neagley discerned George's thoughts and silently made an assessment of him in her mind. He was unlike those news media anchors behind the police officers, who were still pawing at the police while attempting to break through the human wall, all while shouting toward her in hopes of securing an interview and the like.

A bunch of clueless fools.

Neagley silently complained, then raised her head and looked at the sky.

She frowned. Just as Roscoe had said, there were more and more of those things. Although the two Warbands had enough people and enough killing power, they still had to spend time and effort protecting civilians, so some of them could not break away.

So, with her Observation Haki fully opened, she swept her senses across the area and found Skye fighting not far away.

She shouted, "Skye!"

"Yeah, I'm here."

At an intersection on a nearby street, Skye stomped hard on the ground. Terrifying vibration energy swept forward along the earth like a tide.

The demons occupying the street and charging toward her were blown apart one after another under the force of the vibration, turning into blood mist and shattered flesh that filled the air.

Hearing Neagley call her, Skye immediately answered.

"There are quite a few of those things in the sky. Use your ability to block them. I'll coordinate with you."

"The rest of you, use this time to finish cleaning up the ground demons."

"Yes!!"
