Chapter 142: Promises in the Cavern
Azriel
"So tell me... what star is that one?" Seraphel asked softly, his voice barely a breath above the quiet rustle of the surrounding lotuses as he pointed toward the open canopy above us.
I shifted beside him on the lush bed of glowing lotus petals, pulling his shoulders closer until his head rested securely against my chest. The soft, sweet scent of his skin filled my senses, grounding me in the present moment. We had finished our dinner an hour ago, letting the half-eaten plates sit forgotten by the candlelight while we retreated to the center of the cavern to trace the constellations under the open night sky.
"That star?" I murmured, taking his hand and wrapping my fingers around his slender index finger, guiding it directly toward a brilliant, pulsing orb of silver light at the center of the sky. "That is Astraea’s Vow."
"Astraea’s Vow?" he repeated, his warm breath fanning across my neck.
"Mmh," I hummed, twirling his finger slightly as if weaving the light between our hands. "Elios, the Deity of Fate, forged that star centuries ago as a sacred signifier of eternal love. Legend says he cast it into the heavens to mark soulmates whose fates were bound across multiple realms. And since we are sitting beneath its light together right now, in the heart of my domain... it only means our love will remain unyielding and strong, even though we are about to be apart."
Seraphel went quiet for a beat. Slowly, he tilted his head back to look at me, a flicker of confusion crossing his features before a soft, breathless laugh escaped his lips. "Did you just make that up?"
I let out a low chuckle, my chest vibrating beneath his head. "No, little lotus. The Deity of Fate does crazy things, and he probably knew what our destiny would turn out to be right now."
Seraphel’s gaze lingered on the pulsing silver star for a few moments, his expression softening into something quiet and contemplative. He turned fully in my arms, resting his cheek against my collarbone as he looked up into my eyes. "And what do you think our fate is going to be?" he asked slowly.
"I am not the god of fate, so I have no idea what lies ahead," I answered softly, my hand smoothing down the arc of his spine. "But one thing I know for sure is that we are bound to be together forever. You are my mate, Seraphel—my soul’s anchor. I love you, and no distance can sever what binds us. I will wait for you while you are away in Verelona with Luceriel. But don’t think for a second that I won’t visit you anyway, just in case my proud brother decides to be difficult and allows it."
Seraphel let out a musical laugh, his fingers lightly tapping against my chest. "You wouldn’t dare. Luceriel would throw an absolute fit if you broke into his kingdom"
"Let him," I growled playfully, nipping at the crown of his head as we both laughed it off. "I’d like to see my arrogant brother try to stop me from seeing my own mate."
He smiled, but as the quiet descended upon us once more, the warmth in my blood began to shift. The constant, thrumming pulse of my innate nature began to stir beneath my skin.
My gaze dropped to his flushed, parted lips, and a dark hunger coiled tightly in the pit of my stomach.
"Seraphel..." My voice dropped slowly, heavy with a desire for lust. "I want you badly right now. Like, I really want to fuck you, Seraphel. But I know if I give in, I would lose control, and not even the rope of restriction would hold me back. If I let my desire out and it overwhelms me, then the urge of Mirevale’s curse will return, and I don’t know what I would do to you then. The last thing I want to do to you is hurt you.’’
Seraphel looked at me, his eyes overflowing with a tender, unshakeable understanding. He raised his hand, placing it gently against the side of my face, his warm palm soothing the tense muscle of my jaw.
"It’s okay," he whispered softly. "We can just watch the stars for now... at least until we meet again."
I nodded and heaved a deep sigh, resting my forehead against his.
Before I met him, I would have never been alright until my thirst for lust was completely satisfied. I was the Sin of Lust, an insatiable tempest of desire that demanded total surrender.
But Seraphel had changed everything. He brought a profound stillness to my restless soul, bringing about a shift so deep that even my innate lust was starting to get content simply holding him, feeling his heartbeat, and sharing the quiet air.
Looking down at his peaceful face, a quiet hope sparked within my chest—maybe, just maybe, the future of my brothers and I would turn out well, and the ancient prophecy of the curse would finally be removed.
"I am going to miss you," Seraphel murmured, raising his head to face me, his eyes gleaming under the starlight. "When we see each other next, the baby would have grown, and I would have trained really hard."
I kissed his forehead and hugged him tightly against my chest. "Don’t be too hard on yourself, no matter what. You carry our child, little lotus. If Luceriel lets you train too much and you hurt yourself, I’ll appear in Verelona myself and get rid of him."
Seraphel giggled softly, biting his lip. "You would fight your own brother over a scratch?"
"Without hesitation," I rasped, my lips tracing down from his forehead to the tip of his nose. "I am a selfish, possessive Sin, darling. Your safety is my only law."
Unable to resist the magnetic pull of his mouth any longer, I leaned down and captured his lips in a slow, intoxicating kiss.
My tongue parted his lips with practiced ease, sliding in to taste the sweet warmth of his mouth. Seraphel let out a soft, trembling sigh into the kiss, his arms wrapping tightly around my neck as he kissed me back with equal passion, his fingers tangling into the hair at the nape of my neck.
The friction of his lips against mine sent a surge of pure fire straight to my lower belly.
My restraint was wearing paper-thin. Driven by the overwhelming need to feel him, I shifted our weight on the bed of lotuses, sliding my knee between his thighs.
Without breaking the kiss, I took his hand and brought it down between us, pressing his palm over the thick, throbbing heat straining against my dark silk trousers.
Seraphel gasped into my mouth, a dark blush spreading rapidly across his cheeks and down his neck.
I adjusted our posture, sliding my hips forward until my hard length was resting flush against his front. Slowly, rhythmically, I began a heavy cock rubbing against his body, setting up a slow, agonizingly sweet friction between us through our robes.
"Ah... Azriel..." Seraphel whined softly, his eyelids fluttering shut as a wave of intense pleasure shot through him. His hips instinctively arched up, chasing the heavy pressure of my length grinding against his.
"This is all I can do tonight, my love," I rasped against his ear, my breath ragged, hot, and uneven as I kept up the steady, rolling friction of my cock against his. "That’s all I can give you without letting the madness take me... just this... just enough to remind you who you belong to before you leave for Verelona."
I claimed his mouth again, deepening the kiss into a wet, breathless collision of tongues. Every slow thrust of my hips rubbing against his sent electricity roaring through my veins.
Seraphel clung to me like a man drowning in a sea of sensation, his head tilted back, throwing his throat into a long, pale arch as he surrendered entirely to the heavy friction.
His sweet, breathless moans echoed softly off the cave walls, mingling with the quiet rustle of the glowing lotuses under the eternal light of Astraea’s Vow.
