Chapter 133: A Second Blooming
Feng Jiexu dodged quickly but the Arctic Bear still managed to hit his shoulder. He clutched his shoulder, his face twisted in pain. "Shorty! You’ve got some nerve!!"
Gu Zhao lifted her chin proudly. "Of course."
The Arctic Bear raised its paw again to keep swatting at the two-legged creature hopping around.
"Shorty, make it stop, or I’m going to open fire."
Feng Jiexu scrambled to dodge, and despite his words, he showed no intention of actually firing his gun.
Gu Zhao watched for a while before telling the Arctic Bear to stop. The bear obediently stood behind her, its gaze full of affection as it looked at her.
"YAP! YAP!" *Sister Xiangxiang!*
The little bear cub outside was frantic.
The big Arctic Bear glanced at it and quietly shifted its body to block the cub’s view.
Gu Zhao didn’t notice. Besides the cub’s yelping, Ye Zuiyi was also screaming her head off.
"Why aren’t you doing anything to her! Shoot her!" Ye Zuiyi yelled at Feng Jiexu, her tone full of command.
"You’re in this together, aren’t you!" she added, glaring viciously at them.
"Gu Zhao, how could you hang out with a criminal!!"
"You should both be arrested!!"
Feng Jiexu frowned. "Do I need you to tell me what to do?"
After speaking, he turned to Gu Zhao with a smile in his eyes. "She’s so noisy. If I wasn’t bringing her to you, I would’ve ditched her long ago."
He said it with a mix of smugness, clearly looking for praise.
Gu Zhao gave him a strange look. After staring for a few seconds, her expression shifted to one of realization. "I knew you were up to no good! You’re trying to give me a person!"
"You just want to get me sent to jail too! Human trafficking is illegal, you know!"
Feng Jiexu: ???
Feng Jiexu laughed in exasperation. "You ungrateful brat! I saw how she’s always causing trouble for you, so I brought her here for you to teach a lesson!"
Gu Zhao looked as if she had seen right through him. "You’re one rotten old man."
"Trying to teach me to beat people up? I *never* hit people."
Feng Jiexu glanced at Jia Xu lying on the floor and nodded. "Whatever you say."
The two of them ignored Ye Zuiyi. Feng Jiexu moved closer to Gu Zhao and began to study how she had gotten her head stuck in the trash can.
Then, with some effort, he started to free her.
The Arctic Bear stood to the side, staring unblinkingly at Feng Jiexu. If he so much as tried to bully the little one, it would bite his head off.
Ye Zuiyi was furious, and the unease in her heart grew more intense.
While it was playful chaos on this side, it was just plain chaotic on the other.
"AHHHH! Brother, I... I think I’m gonna throw up!!" Zhong Mingrui clapped both hands over his mouth, his stomach churning violently.
Zhong Siqi, who was running while carrying him, heard this and his eyes widened in horror. "Zhong Mingrui, you hold it in!!"
"If you hold it in, I’ll never spank you again!"
"Gag..." Zhong Mingrui clamped his mouth shut as tightly as he could.
He had to do it for his butt!
The large men behind them were still in pursuit and were about to catch up, only a few steps away.
"I’m at my limit, too!!" Song Zhe panted, holding Song Yi.
"Brother, real men don’t say they can’t do it," Song Yi said, clinging to Song Zhe’s neck and looking behind them.
"Faster, faster, they’re about to catch us."
Song Zhe felt his legs going numb. "I’d rather be a eunuch! You can’t just work me like a horse!"
All of them were exhausted. Zhong Mingrui held it in as long as he could, but in the end, he couldn’t stop a violent surge of vomit.
Zhong Siqi was having a mental breakdown.
But the ones having an even bigger breakdown were the large men chasing them.
They were very close to Zhong Mingrui, and half of his projectile vomit landed right on their faces.
"BLEGH..."
"Just run if you’re gonna run! Why’d you have to add insult to injury!" one of the men yelled, completely losing it. A chorus of gagging sounds erupted, and even those who hadn’t felt sick ran to the wall to vomit into trash cans.
Gu Xulin gave Zhong Mingrui an admiring glance. "What a brilliant tactic!"
Zhong Siqi’s face was grim. ’I want to throw up too!’
Zhong Mingrui smiled modestly.
「At the edge of the mountain crevasse.」
A group of people had appeared on the vast, white expanse of the snowy mountain.
Gu Yunqi and his team were using professional equipment to survey the crevasse.
Jiang Xiubai stared worriedly down into the crevasse.
Ye Zexi saw them dawdling, fiddling with all sorts of equipment instead of starting the rescue, and he grew extremely anxious.
"Are you people competent or not!"
"My sister fell into that crevasse too! She’s still so young... What if something happens to her!"
"Hurry up! I’ll pay double for all expenses, just save my sister quickly!"
The three remaining drones hovered overhead, continuing the live broadcast.
This was a decision the director had made after careful consideration. Rather than have the netizens wait anxiously, it was better to let them watch the rescue together.
This way, fewer people would curse him out.
For instance, right now, the people who had been cursing the director were switching their targets.
[Is there something seriously wrong with Ye Zexi! It’s not like his sister was the only one who fell! Mr. Gu’s younger brother and sister fell too, he has more reason to be anxious!]
[That brother-sister pair is so annoying! How does he have the nerve to talk! Wasn’t his sister the reason everyone fell into the crevasse in the first place! She’s a total menace!]
[It’d be better if Ye Zuiyi just died!!]
[Can the comments chill with the hostility? We don’t even know if Ye Zuiyi is dead or alive! Besides, she’s just a kid. Couldn’t they have just given in to her back then? If they had just let her have her way, she wouldn’t have developed such a mentality.]
[OMG, a real-life apologist. I don’t have money, so you should give in to me. Give me your salary, or I’m gonna turn into a villain.]
Gu Yunqi shot him a cold glance. "From the Ye Family?"
"A bit noisy. Knock him out so he’ll be quiet for a bit."
As soon as Gu Yunqi finished speaking, one of his subordinates walked over with a wide grin.
"What are you doing! This is a live broadcast!" Ye Zexi stumbled back a few steps, looking at them in terror.
He truly hadn’t expected the Gu Family to be so lawless! To think they’d dare to hit someone on a live broadcast!
"Heh heh, don’t worry. I know how to hit someone without causing brain damage. I won’t make you any dumber," the subordinate said. He cracked his knuckles, then struck.
THUD.
Ye Zexi was on the ground.
No one paid him any mind.
[Youth is great. He can fall asleep anywhere.]
[Such a nice day, such nice snow.]
[What’s for dinner tonight? Ah, forget it. Might as well eat an anti-fan.]
The stream of comments was suddenly pristine. Anyone who tried to speak up for Ye Zexi was quickly buried by the flood.
After analyzing the survey data, the rescue team began preparing to enter the crevasse.
Gu Yunqi and Jiang Xiubai went down with them.
The drones hovered over the crevasse as everyone silently prayed for them.
Once everyone was down, Gu Yunqi shone his flashlight toward Jiang Xiubai. "Which way."
Jiang Xiubai looked around, then started walking in one direction.
The group followed. The men Gu Yunqi had brought with him drew concealed guns from their waists.
...
"Bundle him up!"
The first thing Gu Zhao did after being freed from the trash can was to turn on her rescuer.
The ever-watchful Arctic Bear immediately hoisted Feng Jiexu into the air.
Feng Jiexu could only laugh in exasperation.
Gu Zhao just grinned back at him, her smile full of mischief.
"You..." Feng Jiexu’s smile vanished. He suddenly had a feeling something very bad was about to happen.
"What... What are you planning to do..."
"AHHHH! Don’t touch me!"
"Gu Zhao! You pervert!"
"She’s abducting an innocent man!!"
After the whole ordeal, Feng Jiexu stared up at the ceiling, having lost the will to live.
Gu Zhao took a few steps back, looking at her handiwork with great satisfaction.
Feng Jiexu was stark naked, his body bound with bedsheets and a duvet cover.
His clothes had been torn to shreds and thrown on the floor.
Fortunately, it wasn’t cold in the base.
"In the future... you should spend less time with those two eagles..." Feng Jiexu said, looking at Gu Zhao with dead eyes, his voice a little hoarse.
"Why not? Big Eagle and Little Eagle are great."
Why?
Heh. Feng Jiexu glanced down at the way he was tied up.
A repeat performance.
"Those two aren’t what you’d call ’proper’ eagles."
