Chapter 131: I’m Good-Looking
Gu Zhao had already found the keys on the guard and was waddling over on her short legs to open the door.
Gu Huaiyan still stood there in disbelief.
Meanwhile, Gu Xulin and the others hadn’t even finished their meal when they saw Gu Zhao had returned.
"What’s wrong? Did something happen?" Gu Xulin stood up, looking at Gu Zhao worriedly.
The moment Zhong Mingrui heard this, he quickly started shoveling food into his mouth.
’Come on, mouth, eat faster!’
He wished he could grow two more mouths at this moment.
Everyone else stopped what they were doing and looked at Gu Zhao, equally worried.
Then they saw Gu Zhao pull a large ring of keys out from behind her back!
"All hail Big King!" Song Yi shouted excitedly.
Gu Jiao’s eyes were filled with admiration. ’That’s my idol!’
Gu Zhao held the ring of keys, but then she discovered a new problem.
’Damn it, who the hell installed the lock so high?!’
’This is outrageous! Outrageous! Outrageous!!!’
Seeing this, Gu Xulin burst out laughing, sounding like a quacking duck.
Her little face turning cold, Gu Zhao spun around and started to walk away.
"Hey, wait! Gu Xiao Zhao, you’d really leave your brother behind like that?" Gu Xulin quickly tried to suppress his laughter, reaching out to stop her.
Gu Zhao replied, "Brother? What brother? My third brother is waiting for me outside."
"Who are you? I don’t know you."
Gu Zhao walked out.
Gu Xulin froze, then looked at Zhong Siqi beside him. "What did she just say?" he asked, his voice hoarse.
Zhong Siqi replied awkwardly, "That she’s disowning you as her brother..."
"No, who did she say was outside?" Gu Xulin’s voice was now incredibly hoarse.
"Her third brother," Song Yi said, swallowing his food and letting out a burp.
Just then, Gu Zhao pulled Gu Huaiyan inside.
’So what if she wasn’t tall enough! She had helpers! A Big King doesn’t need to do manual labor!’
Gu Huaiyan and Gu Xulin’s eyes met, and both their eyes started to redden.
"Third Brother!" Gu Xulin’s voice was choked with emotion.
"Little Hedgehog."
Gu Xulin’s expression immediately soured. "Who’s that? I don’t know him."
Gu Huaiyan: ...
"Little Hedgehog~" Gu Zhao called out, a cheeky grin spreading across her face.
Zhong Mingrui looked up again. "Who’s Little Hedgehog? Did Big King get a pet hedgehog?"
The tips of Gu Xulin’s ears turned bright red.
Zhong Siqi immediately walked over to Zhong Mingrui and pushed his head down toward his meal box. "Keep eating. And don’t talk."
Zhong Mingrui grunted in acknowledgment and went back to eating with renewed urgency.
A faint smile appeared in Gu Huaiyan’s eyes as he looked at Gu Xulin. He took the keys and began trying them one by one.
The fifth key worked, and the door swung open.
And so, the two brothers, who hadn’t seen each other in five years, were finally reunited.
Gu Xulin looked at Gu Huaiyan somewhat bashfully. "Third Brother."
A smile was in Gu Huaiyan’s eyes as he was about to respond, but then he saw Gu Xulin shoot him a threatening glare.
He immediately swallowed the words "Little Hedgehog" and simply gave a faint "Mm" in response.
Song Yi dashed out of the cell and took a deep breath. "The smell of freedom!"
Song Zhe, however, immediately ran to Gu Zhao’s side. ’She’s my lucky charm!’
Zhong Mingrui walked out, still holding his meal box.
Zhong Siqi, Gu Zhen, and her sister also hurried out.
Gu Zhao glanced at the two awkward brothers, then explained her "plan"—which wasn’t much of a plan at all—to everyone.
The three little ones had blind faith in their Big King and immediately started showering her with praise.
"Big King is so amazing!"
"Big King is Pig Brother Liang!"
Zhong Siqi sighed, bent down, and smacked Zhong Mingrui on the butt.
"It’s Zhuge Liang."
Zhong Mingrui was indignant. ’I’m not wrong!’
’It is Pig Brother Liang!’
"Big King is invincible! I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth with my spicy strips!"
’I really want some spicy strips right now.’
Gu Zhen was speechless. ’When we get back, I’m confiscating all her spicy strips! And what were Mom and Dad thinking, letting a child eat junk food like that?!’
’She’s completely addicted; she can’t go three sentences without mentioning them.’
Gu Jiao, still unaware of what awaited her when she got home, trotted to keep up with Gu Zhao.
Gu Zhao was leading the group to raid the enemy base, but she had barely taken two steps before Gu Xulin hoisted her up.
"Are you trying to be a bull in a china shop? So reckless! Looks like you’re asking for a spanking!" Gu Xulin’s brows were tightly furrowed. ’They really can’t manage without me.’
Gu Zhao looked pleadingly at Gu Huaiyan.
Gu Huaiyan’s heart ached for her, but he remained silent.
’He agreed with his fourth brother; his little sister’s idea was too dangerous.’
’With even a single mistake, she would be captured.’
Gu Zhao struggled a bit. "Brother~ You know I have the animals to help me."
"I value my life, you know. If anything happens, I’ll hide behind the animals. Besides, I’ve been watching. All the people here stay cooped up in the labs. Apart from the guards and patrols, they never gather in groups."
Hearing her out, Gu Xulin figured it might actually work.
Gu Huaiyan felt a headache coming on.
’What am I supposed to do when my younger brother and sister are both so reckless?’
’I miss Second Brother.’
’He seems to be the only one who can keep everyone in line.’
After wriggling free from Gu Xulin’s grasp, Gu Zhao led everyone to the room where the animals were caged.
The moment they entered, all the animals shot to their feet. The ones with tails wagged them so furiously they nearly fanned up a storm.
The cages weren’t locked. As soon as Gu Zhao and the others entered, the animals poured out and rushed toward Gu Zhao.
Gu Huaiyan was startled and quickly jumped in front of Gu Zhao, about to yell for his fourth brother to grab their sister and run.
But then he saw that Gu Xulin and the others had already run away!!
What shocked him even more was that the horde of animals simply sat down in front of Gu Zhao, looking impossibly docile.
’He had thought the little fox’s affection for Gu Zhao was just a coincidence. He never imagined that all animals were like that with her!’
’This didn’t relax him at all; in fact, it made him even more tense. His sister had to get out of here!’
’They couldn’t be allowed to discover how special Gu Zhao was!’
Gu Zhao patted each animal on the head, then gave her orders, assigning a group of them to follow Gu Huaiyan.
The reason being that Gu Huaiyan had mentioned the base had tranquilizer guns, and the animals would escort him to retrieve them.
Gu Zhen and her sister would go with him.
The rest would go on the raid with Gu Zhao.
One group of animals was left to guard the room, which Gu Zhao had now designated as the holding cell for their ’spoils of war’!
Gu Zhao led Gu Xulin and the others to a door, pushed it open, and went inside alone. A man in a white lab coat was injecting an unknown liquid into a boy strapped to a bed.
Interrupted by the door opening, he frowned at the visitor.
Seeing it was the boss’s little sister, he let his guard down—right before Gu Zhao climbed onto the bed, launched herself at him, and knocked him out with a single punch.
"Tsk, couldn’t you make these things a bit lower?"
Gu Zhao looked at the terrified, restrained little boy. Fearing he would scream and shout, she "thoughtfully" put him to sleep as well.
Once she was done, Gu Xulin and the others came in, hauled the bodies away, and locked them up.
They repeated this process until, before they knew it, the place had been cleared out.
Gu Huaiyan, having retrieved the tranquilizer guns, had taken care of the patrols as well.
The entire base fell silent.
Jia Xu was still catching up on sleep, completely unaware that the little sister he had "adopted" had just made him a general with no army.
"Is everyone dead?" Feng Jiexu said as he walked down the corridor with a group of men. The surroundings were eerily quiet, with not a single patrol in sight.
Feng Jiexu frowned and violently kicked open a lab door. It was empty.
"Go kick all the doors down!" Feng Jiexu ordered his subordinates.
The group of burly men complied, immediately setting off to kick down doors.
Ye Zuiyi followed behind them, leaning against the wall for support. A profound sense of dread washed over them as they watched the men’s actions.
’These people are insane!’
They kicked down more than a dozen doors, but found no one.
’Something’s wrong!’ Feng Jiexu pulled out his gun, his eyes scanning the surroundings vigilantly.
"Go find Jia Xu first."
...
"All that’s left is my dear Brother Jia!" Gu Zhao said with a particularly cheerful smile.
Hearing this, Gu Xulin’s face darkened. He gave Gu Zhao a light smack on the butt. "You dare mention your ’Brother Jia’! Is he more handsome than me? You think I can’t compare to him?"
"Gu Xiao Zhao! When we get back, I’m taking you to get your eyes checked!"
Gu Xulin seethed.
Gu Huaiyan looked gently at Gu Zhao. "There’s nothing wrong with my sister’s taste in looks. Jia Xu isn’t handsome, but my dear sister said that I am."
Gu Xulin: ??
’Is he trying to steal my sister’s favor?’
’You scheming brother!’
Gu Zhao suddenly remembered that she had, in fact, said she would add her third brother to her "harem"...
She shot a guilty glance at her gently smiling third brother and her fuming fourth brother.
’Don’t bring it up! Don’t bring it up!’
"Fourth Brother, don’t be in denial. Little Zhao said I’m handsome and even wants to add me to her harem."
Gu Xulin: ??!!!!!
"Gu Xiao Zhao!"
Gu Zhao bolted.
