Chapter 227 - 219: Going Astray at Such a Young Age
The Bully Locusts evolved along two branches.
One branch was the group led by Huangjue. They possessed a degree of self-control, were able to integrate into the Yao Race Civilization, and were willing to accept its rules and protection.
The other branch was the swarm that remained at the old site of the Empire. After constantly hunting and devouring one another, they evolved into a new, more ferocious species.
Luh Yao used [Rule Repair] to change their name, dubbing them the [Slaughter Flying Locusts].
The Slaughter Flying Locusts were more aggressive than the Bully Locusts and had higher combat attributes. They couldn’t cross the Black Water Mite border, and when hungry, they would enter a deep sleep to conserve energy.
But at the slightest sign of activity, they would awaken from beneath the soil and begin their hunt.
The ground around Crystal City concealed many slumbering Slaughter Flying Locusts.
They were relatively spread out to avoid pointless infighting.
Now, the Wuzi Kingdom was connected to the Yao Race World on one end and the Bos God Realm on the other. This hilly kingdom had become the buffer zone between them.
After some observation, Luh Yao decided to gradually open it up, allowing the Yao Race and Extraordinary Beings to enter the Bos God Realm’s territory.
Centered on Crystal City, the surrounding area still held the fruits of the former Empire’s civilization, including its architecture, tools, technology, and culture. It would be a real shame to let it all go to waste.
Now, the area had become a natural adventure zone.
Martial Cultivators and other Extraordinary Beings alike began to arrive to train and test themselves. The Slaughter Flying Locusts hiding underground became their whetstones and their prey.
After Luh Yao opened the passage, Yao City and Yan City dispatched a joint team.
This team was led by Yan Jiu, accompanied by seven Martial Cultivators, five Sand Worms, and two Mad Flame Birds to ensure the safety of their journey.
They were protecting a group of forty artisans. More than half of these artisans were Burrower Monsters, followed by a number of Ghosts skilled in architecture and surveying, as well as a few human Stonemasons.
They faced many hardships along the way, but with their formidable combat power, they broke through the swarms’ blockade.
Upon arriving at Crystal City, the artisans quickly began drawing up blueprints and taking measurements. Soon after, they set about renovating the relatively intact imperial Palace. After dismantling some residential buildings and expending considerable effort, they built a Round Tower atop the Palace.
Crystal City now had its own [Ghost Lighthouse].
The accompanying Ghosts got busy, moving about to persuade the native Dead of Crystal City.
"Hello, we’re from Saniluo. This is a Ghost Lighthouse. If the Dead reside within, they won’t forget their memories or fade away. You can rest inside."
"We mean no harm. We just hope to build a tower here to make it easier for Ghosts to live long-term."
"We’ve heard you created a brilliant civilization and culture. It would be such a pity for it to be forgotten. I’m very interested in the Empire’s architecture. Could you tell me about it?"
...
This group of Ghosts was very skilled at communication. Their arrival gradually made the Ghosts of the Empire lower their guard and begin to interact with them.
Once Yan Jiu and the others confirmed the Ghost Lighthouse was complete, they departed without delay.
The tower was built upon the Palace and was adjacent to a Flame Totem, so they didn’t have to worry about the Slaughter Flying Locusts causing trouble. Besides, the residents here were all Ghosts who could hide at any moment, leaving the swarm helpless.
The establishment of the Ghost Lighthouse finally gave the Wandering Souls of the Empire a relatively stable home, and the lighthouses could also communicate with each other remotely.
The Twin Cities had taken the first step in integrating the remnants of the Empire.
As more humans and Extraordinary Beings entered the area, the surroundings of Crystal City grew lively. There were Adventurers trying their luck, Martial Cultivators pushing their limits, and even some Extraordinary Creatures that came to hunt... The once-dead Land of the Old Gods slowly regained a different kind of vitality.
...
Luh Yao clicked on the Artifact Bar and had Isabel raise the [Wishing Star].
The blue Wishing Star slowly rotated in the air, continuously absorbing the many wishes from across the world, and was soon fully charged.
Luh Yao checked the wish-stars inside.
The two brightest stars this time were the same old pair: wishes for immense wealth and for safety.
The other stars were similar in brightness and all relatively small.
The Believers’ wishes had become much more varied.
Some wished for beauty.
Some prayed for their illnesses to disappear.
Some wanted to become master thieves.
Some wished for their enemies to die soon.
All in all, it was a diverse and balanced collection of desires.
This also indicated that there were no major disasters in the entire Fragment World. Everyone was living fairly well and had the luxury of thinking about things beyond their next meal.
Putting away the Wishing Star, Luh Yao did a quick review of the recent Gods Level Divine War.
’Winning was the only possible outcome.’
’In my eyes, the Bos God’s Faith Reserve was completely inadequate. The asymmetry caused by the information gap also meant I was leading him by the nose from start to finish.’
He decided he should try to avoid these other Gods as much as possible in the future.
’If we keep our distance, it’ll be less likely for our worlds to collide and overlap.’
Luh Yao began to try controlling the world’s voyage.
Switching to [Sail] mode, the screen instantly turned completely black, with only the Fragment World in the center displayed in green.
The Fragment World had now taken on the bizarre shape of a mechanical arm: a triangular component on a rectangular base, with a U-shaped arm on top of that.
The World Ship drifted slowly, like a mechanical claw searching for a target in the sea.
It made Luh Yao feel as if he were playing Gold Miner.
Navigating a world was not easy. There was an input delay for forward movement, turning left and right was very slow, and the recovery animation was severe. It felt like operating a clunky, old machine.
During navigation, there were also invisible forces that obstructed and influenced it, and a moment of carelessness could cause it to veer off course.
Holding down the right mouse button could make the world accelerate in a certain direction, but accelerating required a lot of Fire of Faith.
Accelerating for 1 second consumed 10,000 Faith, as was clearly displayed in the top-right corner.
Therefore, piloting this world with its extremely high "fuel" consumption toward a specific destination was already difficult; making it travel smoothly at high speed was even more costly.
’No wonder the Bos God Realm and the Wuzi Kingdom were tangled together before, unable to break away from each other.’
Luh Yao gave up on accelerating for the time being.
’I’ll just let it drift for now.’
The Yao Race World drifted slowly through the black World-Dimension Space. For a long time, nothing else could be seen on the screen, only a profound blackness.
After two minutes, Luh Yao finally saw a new world.
It was a world shaped like a starfish. It rotated slowly in place, with pieces of fragmented debris breaking off and flying into the distance, like a dandelion being blown apart.
Luh Yao took out the [True Sight Curse] and aimed it at the Starfish World to inspect it.
...
[Late Realm]
[Divine Format]: None.
[Divinity]: Crumbling (0).
[Divine Body]: None (0).
...
This was a Divine Kingdom on the verge of destruction.
It was tearing itself apart as it spun, breaking away and scattering into dust, like an old, dying electric fan.
Luh Yao steered the Fragment World in a wide detour to further observe the dying world.
Over the next half hour, the Starfish World shrank as it spun, until most of what looked like spatial fragments had been thrown off, and it gradually became a small white vortex.
This vortex then began to pull on its surroundings, creating a field of distorted light, and even the Fragment World was drawn in by its pull.
Luh Yao quickly spent some Fire of Faith to accelerate for two seconds, finally escaping the vortex’s gravity.
The white vortex grew smaller and smaller, until finally, nothing was left.
All traces of that world were completely gone.
Suddenly, a notification popped up on the screen.
—A Believer has awakened to Wisdom. Do you wish to transform him into a Prophet?
[Yes] [No]
Luh Yao clicked the notification bar, and the view returned to the Fragment World. In a corner of the outer hall of Yao City’s Divine Hall, a small, crouching figure’s head was glowing faintly.
What made this pixel person different from other Prophets was that he had a pair of bat-like wings.
The text above his head read [Dragon Descendant LV3]. His name was Longg Ji, and he was 17 years old.
Luh Yao was stunned for a moment, then furious.
’Where’s the Snowman? What is the Snowman doing!?’
’Pasha is so young, and instead of focusing on his studies, learning Dragon Language Magic, and improving his knowledge, he’s out there secretly messing around! Is that it?!’
’He’s not even an adult and he’s already fooling around and has an illegitimate son! What’s going to happen when he grows up?!’
’I have to stamp out this deplorable trend!’
