Chapter 223 - 215: Please Take Us With You
From the infiltration of the Bully Locusts to the Black Water Mites cutting off the supply lines, Luh Yao had long foreseen the destructive power of his Extraordinary Creatures.
The Divine War was bound to end in King Wuzi’s victory; that much was a given.
But for the Bos God to self-destruct so decisively was something he had not anticipated.
Luh Yao looked at the notification on his screen.
[The Bos God’s Faith has completely vanished from this world.]
Unlike the Gods who had fallen before, the scope this time used the word "world." There was also no notification regarding his Believers. It seemed the Bos God had indeed killed them all to accompany him in death.
The Bos God knew he was about to be defeated and was unwilling to leave his Divine Body and population to benefit the victor. He would rather destroy everything. This self-destructive mentality and action were understandable.
Luh Yao had Isabel try to call out to the Wandering Souls.
The moment she called out in Crystal City, countless Ghosts appeared. Their bodies had indeed been turned to glass and their status as living beings revoked, but they remained among the Dead, lingering in the mortal world.
’Well, that’s no problem then.’
The Yao Race welcomed dead immigrants all the same.
Luh Yao transferred the Skeleton Man, Philos, over to persuade the Ghosts, telling them that those who were willing could migrate to Saniluo.
The war was over, but the post-war cleanup was the most difficult and tedious part.
Isabel continued to negotiate with King Wuzi, discussing various post-war matters.
Luh Yao, meanwhile, turned his attention to the Bos God Realm.
The Divine Kingdom wasn’t large, roughly the size of the Eastern Continent. However, whether due to a problem during its Ascension or the Bos God’s personal preference, it had been torn into a horseshoe shape.
Still, merging with this small world was much faster than waiting for a New Continent to gradually evolve.
Luh Yao opened the Golden Field, selected [Anchor World], and completely connected the [Bos God Realm] with the Yao Race World.
With the Bos God’s fall, the Fire of Faith cost to anchor this Divine Kingdom was immediately halved, dropping to just over 50,000.
The expense was suddenly much lower.
Luh Yao looked down upon Crystal City.
The four tall, thick city walls were more of a symbol of majesty. A Flame Totem was placed on each of the four ramparts. However, the Totems had now lost the support of the Fire of Faith and were unusable.
After Luh Yao clicked on them, the four tall, obelisk-like Totems came to life once more.
This old imperial capital was itself a mature, major city with relatively complete infrastructure. As long as people migrated here, it wouldn’t take long for it to teem with life again.
To his greater delight, there were also two intact Wonders in Crystal City.
...
[Glass Stone Kiln LV3]: A Wonder built by the Bo Race where people mastered the technique of smelting glass. It is said that an Old God crystallized and then dissipated here, leaving behind the power of a Miracle. One can learn the method of glassmaking by being inside it.
In the city where the kiln is located, all artisans gain Luck +1, and the success rate of glassmaking is slightly increased.
...
[Underground Drill Ground LV2]: A Crystal City Wonder. The vast underground labyrinth of ancient paths was once a battlefield between the Bo Race and Snake Monsters. After the Snake Monsters were exterminated, this place became the soldiers’ harshest training ground.
In the city where the drill ground is located, all individuals gain Morale +1, and recruitment effectiveness is slightly improved.
...
A technological Wonder and a military Wonder. Not bad.
But most importantly, he had acquired a base population of over 300,000 Ghosts. Even if only a portion of them could be converted into Believers, their inherent technical knowledge and imperial experience would further advance the Yao Race Civilization.
Inside the city, a Snowman stood outside the conspicuous Divine Palace, holding a small, four-legged iron furnace in his red-gloved hands.
"Lord God, Jimmy found a nice treasure inside the Evil God’s Divine Statue. I hope you like it."
Luh Yao accepted it into his Artifact Bar.
...
[Elemental Casting Furnace LV6]: Faith +1/hour.
A casting furnace of unknown origin, with the fixed Magic [Elemental Confusion].
...
[Elemental Confusion LV5] (50 Mana)
Mixes various Elements in certain proportions to expand specific elemental abilities or eliminate elemental effects.
...
’So this ability didn’t come from the Bos God himself, but was granted by an Artifact.’
’But how should I understand this piece of equipment?’
Luh Yao had Isabel try to operate it. She possessed [Magic Guessing], which was perfect for reverse-engineering the principles of Magic.
After being busy for a while, Isabel came to a conclusion.
"My lord, this ability is for balancing or fusing various Elements. For example, it can blend Earth Element and Fire Element, combining the sturdiness of earth with the burning properties of fire."
"Of course, it can also be a single Element, like attaching Fire Element to a sword."
"It can also be used to directly cancel out a pre-existing Elemental Power through mixing."
Luh Yao understood.
’An Elemental Enchantment Device.’
This furnace could apply elemental Enchantments to various Artifacts, as well as remove them.
Currently, in the Yao Race World, the Fire Element was the most abundant and easily extracted. The Fire Boxes at [Aegir’s Fire] were constantly generating it, and if it wasn’t consumed, it could cause a volcanic eruption.
Luh Yao thought for a moment, then tossed the furnace to Philos.
As the only engineer and craftsman among the Apostles, he was the most suitable person to hold this Artifact. In his spare time, Philos could lead the Dwarves in forging and enchanting some Fine Equipment, which would also advance the technological development of the Yao Race Civilization.
"Lord Yao God, thank you for your trust. I will be sure to make good use of the [Elemental Casting Furnace] and will not let you down."
The Skeleton Man knelt on the ground, a large smiley face appearing above his head. It seemed he really liked this piece of crafting equipment.
’A perfect match for his skills.’
Philos added, "Lord Yao God, the Ghosts here still don’t believe the Bos God has fallen. They firmly believe their God will undergo Rebirth, so it might take some time for them to accept the new world’s Order."
Luh Yao wasn’t concerned about this.
’Take it slow. Time is the best catalyst for change.’
’The cultural fusion of two worlds isn’t something that happens overnight.’
Luh Yao looked toward Crystal City.
The city was now covered in shards of glass, making the name Crystal City quite literal.
Luh Yao calculated the expenses of the war.
The biggest expense was the 50,000 Faith consumed for anchoring. Then there was the 20,000 Faith spent on using the Apostle Soul Seal four times, plus the loss of some Corrupters on the front lines.
The direct gains included: a relatively intact Bos God Realm, the large-scale Crystal City, a population of 300,000 Ghosts, the 25,000 Faith that the Snowman acquired from the Bos God Divine Palace, and the Artifact [Elemental Casting Furnace].
It was equivalent to spending a total of 50,000 Faith to buy a small world of Ghosts, complete with mature facilities and a fully developed population and urban infrastructure.
’This was a good deal.’
Most crucially, after merging with the Bos God Realm, the World Ship could finally Sail normally in the World-Dimension Space.
Luh Yao had Isabel inform King Wuzi that they were preparing to leave.
But unexpectedly, King Wuzi made a request.
"The Wuzi Kingdom is willing to follow you. Please, take us with you."
"I hope to become a Subordinate God to the God you serve."
’It wasn’t that Luh Yao hadn’t considered this.’
King Wuzi was a local God with a clean record. The world encyclopedia in [Rule Repair] was perfectly clear, allowing him to instantly know the King’s past experiences and reputation.
His strengths were his Patience and stability, while his weakness was a lack of ambition.
In a survival-of-the-fittest, forced-ranking competition like the Crawling Area, his weak foundation and lack of urgency made his downfall a high probability.
But for Luh Yao, this actually met his criteria for a Subordinate God.
’Skilled, but doesn’t stir up trouble.’
’There was just one problem.’
King Wuzi was one of the Gods. While there were no rank requirements for a Divine Hall’s Subordinate Gods, the Gods themselves could not enter a Fragment World. This was a fundamental rule limitation that could not be changed.
The alternative was for Luh Yao to drag the relatively independent Wuzi Kingdom along with him. King Wuzi could be attacked by other Gods at any moment, and the path ahead would be fraught with enemies. They might have to fight every single day.
That would be far too much trouble for what it was worth, and not at all the relaxed life Luh Yao wanted.
So he decisively gave up on the recruitment.
Isabel explained the situation to King Wuzi.
"...Our Lord God appreciates your steady style. However, when he recruits Subordinate Gods, he only considers Apprentice Deities and has not considered the Gods as a group."
"You have already forged your own Stairway to Divinity, and the entire Wuzi Kingdom operates properly and with stability. Our Lord God greatly admires you for this. It’s just that he prefers to cultivate his Subordinate Gods from their initial stage as Apprentice Deities. It is a great shame. Please forgive us."
"We will take our leave now. We wish you all the best."
Luh Yao felt a sense of satisfaction watching this.
’Look at Isabel, she’s so well-spoken. If it had been the Blood Knight, it probably would have just been a cold, ’No.’’
"Please, wait!"
A dialog box appeared above the head of the mountain-like King Wuzi: "So you’re saying, as long as I undergo a Demotion to become an Apprentice Deity, that lord will accept me and the Wuzi Kingdom, is that correct?"
"..."
Isabel looked past the screen.
Luh Yao was at a loss for words.
’Now that’s a hardcore guy.’
’On second thought, if King Wuzi was willing to undergo a Demotion and become an Apprentice Deity, that would align with his requirements.’
’There’s no problem with that.’
King Wuzi said, "The Divine War made me deeply aware of my own weakness. I hope to receive shelter and guidance. Your integrity and honesty when facing the weak have convinced me that you must serve a powerful God worthy of trust and loyalty."
Luh Yao liked straightforward, honest people.
’This new underling... I’ll take him.’
