Selena confirmed part of Bianye's story.

There was indeed a powerful God on the second layer named [Star Sea God]—or to be more precise, a Demigod.

However, Selena had never had any dealings with him. She had only passed through the second layer while being pursued by the Overwriting Insects. The Star Sea God had neither obstructed nor helped her; they simply passed each other by, which was the typical attitude among the Gods in the Abyss.

As for the environment of the second layer, Selena didn't know much. She only remembered that it was mostly water, with very little land.

The Apostles finished resting and returned to their peak condition.

Only then did Luh Yao click to enter the vortex.

The prompt [Black Abyss Second Layer] slowly appeared on the screen.

The vortex on the second layer was on a cliff, overlooking a vast ocean just as expected. Specks of light shimmered in the seawater below.

Below the cliff, a few Curse-Sealed Monsters were gnawing on the bodies of two small Clay People.

Under Luh Yao's command, Selena quickly slew the Curse-Sealed Monsters.

An exclamation mark appeared above Bianye's head, and he rushed over to the bodies of his kin. After the Clay Race died, their bodies turned into piles of brown earth.

"They're all dead... The friends who escaped with me are all dead..."

'Since this layer is a Water World, I'll need to bring in a specialist for aquatic operations,' Luh Yao thought.

He had his Apostles stand by and piloted the Deep Sea Lord all the way from the Pixel World.

Klau entered the sea, and his body rapidly swelled, returning to his form as an island-bearing creature.

Luh Yao had everyone board the island, using the Deep Sea Lord as a Sea Fortress to navigate the waters.

While Luh Yao was mobilizing his reinforcements, Isabel gathered quite a bit of information from Bianye.

"My Lord, the Clay Race lives in a kind of Water Nest."

She explained, "It was Wisdom bestowed upon them by the Star Sea God, allowing them to live in the water. The Clay Race's food comes from the seaweed, shellfish, and various fish in the water. Food makes them feel satisfied, but they can actually survive for a long time without eating..."

Soon, Luh Yao spotted a Water Nest in the sea not far away.

It was a large mud ball floating on the water, its surface coated with a sticky green substance that looked like grease or paint.

The Water Nest bobbed up and down, pushed by the waves.

Suddenly, a hole opened at the top of the Water Nest. A few long vines were thrown out, and a small Mud Person climbed out along one of them.

He lay flat on the mud ball's surface and pulled up a vine from underneath it. A string of shellfish of various sizes hung from the vine, looking like some kind of strange ornament.

The little person took the shells, then crawled all the way back into the Water Nest, and the opening was sealed again.

This was the basic daily life of an adult Clay Person.

They would drift on the sea, forage for food, raise shellfish, and wait to encounter another's Water Nest. Then they might become friends, or a couple, and start a family.

They spent most of their time hidden inside their Water Nests, consuming very little and living long lives.

In the past, the Clay Race only lived on shore at two times: when a baby was born, and when one was about to die.

To reproduce, the Clay People would pilot their Water Nests back to their birthplace, the Holy Land, which was also the place of the Star Sea God's divine revelation.

In the Holy Land, newborn babies would receive the God's blessing, protecting them from illness. There were also two other crucial things there: the Companion Vine, and the God's Artifact, [Wishing Star].

The Companion Vine would accompany every member of the Clay Race for their entire life.

It was a peculiar creature. Each infant of the Old People would pluck a tender shoot from the long vines entwined around the [Wishing Star]. This Companion Vine would then remain with the Old Person for life, never abandoning them.

The Companion Vine was not only a companion, but it could also reinforce the Water Nest, secure shellfish, catch fish and shrimp, and would even rescue its bonded partner when in danger.

It was a gift from the God.

A member of the Clay Race who lost their Companion Vine would find it very difficult to survive here.

And if, for whatever reason, they lost their original Companion Vine, obtaining a new one was extremely difficult. This was because Companion Vines also needed time to grow, form a bond of trust and dependence with their partner, and they were distinctly exclusive.

During his escape, Bianye's Companion Vine was torn to shreds by Curse-Sealed Monsters, which had thrown him into despair.

The [Wishing Star] in the Holy Land was an Artifact left behind by the Star Sea God. Although the God had likely fallen, the Artifact remained Immortal, and the Curse Insects could not Devour it.

The [Wishing Star] was the hope in the eyes of all the Old People.

Every Believer could make a wish to it. They had to pray with their whole heart and soul, in the most devout posture. The God could then hear the deepest prayers and desires of the Believers' hearts.

Many Believers would receive the attention of the Star Sea God, and their wishes would come true.

Unfortunately, ever since the Curse Insects' invasion caused the God to fall, the Apostle who oversaw the Wishing Star also perished. The [Wishing Star] had since fallen completely silent, no longer responding to wishes.

On the island that was the Deep Sea Lord's transformed body, a frightened, head-clutching emoji appeared above Bianye.

He said, "Lord Apostles, the Holy Land has been overrun by Curse-Sealed Monsters. They're laying their eggs there... We can't get ashore."

"The Holy Land is at the center of the sea. The surrounding waters are crawling with Curse-Sealed Monsters. They're hunting Water Nests everywhere, and the Clay Race is having a very hard time... Most of the time, we have to hide our Water Nests underwater."

It was not yet known whether this was a deliberate measure by the Curse Insects or simply an unintentional consequence.

The current situation on the Abyss Second Layer was that the Curse-Sealed Monsters were gradually replacing the small Clay People.

The second layer was much larger than the first. Even with Isabel searching from the air and the Deep Sea Lord advancing on the water, it still took Luh Yao half an hour to find the location of the central landmass.

It was less of a landmass and more of a large, isolated island.

The island was covered in a white, fibrous substance that resembled spider silk, making it look like a giant spider's nest.

In the very center was a giant spherical object that took up a third of the entire island.

It was also wrapped from top to bottom in white threads. At its peak was something that looked like a black bean pod, from which all the threads on the island originated.

This [Parasite Insect] was using Curse Seals to extract the Fire of Faith from within every Clay Person, then sending it back to the Egg Shell.

Hunting the Clay Race was just a means to an end.

The Egg Shell in the center of the island could be considered a Divine Statue created by the Parasite Insect.

This was a job for the Snowman.

"Jimmy will definitely complete the mission!"

The Snowman moved out.

As the Deep Sea Lord crashed into the edge of the isolated island, Curse-Sealed Monsters crawled out of the white web on the Holy Land, reflexively charging toward the invaders.

Facing these Low Tier monsters, Tyrant and the Blood Knight began a one-sided slaughter.

Jimmy moved like a Ghost, quickly rolling all the way up the dead-looking sphere. He swiped at the Egg Shell with his red-gloved hand.

A notification appeared in Luh Yao's upper-right corner: Faith +9321.

This sudden attack agitated the Egg Shell, which immediately spewed out strands of silk to entangle the Snowman.

But the Snowman was too fast. It moved nimbly, even circling around to snatch at its opponent again.

Faith +1227.

This time, the insects that had been holding off Tyrant and the Blood Knight all turned around and charged crazily toward the Snowman.

Seeing this, Jimmy dashed back and was covered by the Blood Knight.

"Lord God, that Egg Shell has no Artifacts. It's very poor, with only some Fire of Faith," Jimmy reported.

'Not bad at all,' Luh Yao thought.
