I Have a God Simulator

Chapter 131 - 126: Arresting the Wish Spirit

Baroye’s body swayed twice after its head exploded. A new head quickly sprouted from its neck, its features smooth and as black as ever.

"Beautiful miss, the loyal Baroye is at your service, eager to fulfill your every wish," it said fawningly.

"Don’t waste your energy."

Songx Shiyi reminded her from the side, "Wish Spirits can’t be killed here. They’re neither living nor dead. It’s best to just ignore them."

Through Isabel’s eyes, Luh Yao saw that Songx Shiyi was also being followed by a Wish Spirit. It too was chattering endlessly, but he couldn’t make out what it was saying.

It seemed each Wish Spirit was assigned to a single person, and their conversations were private.

’Like a personalized sales pitch?’

Luh Yao focused his attention on the Crossover Zone.

It was nighttime here as well, with a light fog lingering all around. The shapes of streets and greenbelts were still discernible, but with subtle differences in certain places.

The street ahead looked relatively normal, but farther on, the road surface began to curve upward, like a giant strand of curly hair coiling all the way into the sky.

To Isabel’s right was a shared bicycle, a mode of transportation Luh Yao knew well. At the moment, however, the bike’s wheel hub was caved in, and its frame was trembling nonstop.

A moment later, a palm-sized, miniature shared bicycle emerged from behind it. It wobbled unsteadily as it headed down the street.

The ground was covered in cracks, looking as if it would collapse under the slightest bit of excess weight.

When Isabel stepped on it, the ground sank and bobbed.

The sky was filled with gray slabs of clouds, all of equal size. Glimmers of light shone through the cracks between them, creating the bizarre and alien impression of an artificial firmament.

"This is what the Crossover Zone is like."

Noticing Isabel’s curiosity, Songx Shiyi explained, "The overlap of different worlds causes some normal things to become distorted. They intersect and nest within one another, creating a state of dynamic Chaos."

Luh Yao, however, immediately understood this in-between world.

’Isn’t this just clipping?’

When two worlds overlap, they clip through each other, resulting in what you see now.

’My years of gaming experience are finally good for something.’

The area was vast and empty, with no sign of aggressive monsters. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing that looked alive—only Baroye, still chattering incessantly in her ear.

"Miss, did you know? This world is a truly remarkable place. The so-called Gods are nothing more than pets cultivated by this world. You could even say this place is a ranch for Gods."

"If you keep breeding pets, you’re bound to get a few prize specimens, right?"

"It’s the same here. This world has given birth to countless Titled Deities, and even a good number of Main Gods. Some of them are truly outstanding—they’re used as consumables to assault the Transcendent Zone."

...

He had to admit, the Wish Spirit’s words were incredibly tempting.

Luh Yao didn’t know if it was telling the truth, but this explosive intel still managed to pique his interest.

’No.’

’Safety first.’

’I have to treat everything it says as bullshit.’

When it came to dealing with the undying Wish Spirits, there weren’t many options aside from enduring their mantra-like sales pitches.

Songx Shiyi said the Committee had tried various methods—special earplugs, sonic interference, even neural blockers—but none of them worked.

A Wish Spirit might seem like it’s speaking, but its words are essentially a special form of information radiation. As long as someone is in the Crossover Zone, they can’t escape this informational invasion.

In other words, a Wish Spirit was like an informational entity. They wandered and propagated throughout the sealed-off Wasteland World, presumably until the day their energy was theoretically exhausted.

Based on this, Luh Yao began to suspect.

’The Wish Spirits are constantly trying to communicate with people... Could it be that they need to interact with them to obtain some kind of nutrients or materials?’

To get more intel, Luh Yao had Isabel activate the [True Sight Curse].

Before entering the Crossover Zone, he had equipped Isabel with numerous Artifacts to handle any contingencies.

In the Low Realm Dimension of the Pixel World, the simulator helped the player gain Insight into all sorts of data. But in the real world, away from the simulator, the player lost this ability.

Luh Yao wanted to see if the True Sight Curse could fill this gap. In any case, with Life Mystery, Isabel had more than enough health.

The True Sight Curse was like a living tattoo imprinted on Isabel’s body, completely invisible from the outside.

Isabel’s Life Value dropped by 500, and an inverted A appeared in her vision.

Dense, tiny symbols appeared on Baroye’s body. They were nested within each other, like some kind of seal or barrier.

But under the [True Sight Curse], the chains formed by the myriad symbols snapped one by one. They scattered and then quickly reassembled into a detailed stats panel.

...

[Wish Spirit LV12] Baroye

Life Value: 266/266

Mana Value: 133/133

Damage: 0

Defense: 0

Speed: 15

[Undead]

Possesses the undying Trait for unknown reasons, allowing for continuous resurrection.

[Symbiote]

Exists in a state of Symbiosis with multiple bodies, gaining additional benefits.

[Word Spirit]

Enhances its own Magic through speech. The longer it speaks, the greater the magical enhancement.

[Eternal Wish Corridor LV1]

[Word Spirit Exclusive Ability]

Uses Magic to construct an infinite, illusory world that fulfills the target’s deepest desires, trapping them within an endless corridor.

...

In that moment, the [True Sight Curse] proved its worth.

The enigmatic Wish Spirit had revealed its true form under the Main God Level Spell.

Luh Yao realized a few things.

The Wish Spirits were indeed undying, at least within this Wasteland World.

They could engage in Symbiosis, and individual entities could merge with one another.

Then there was the crucial part about the Wish Spirits.

Their incessant chattering wasn’t just for Enchantment; it was also how they activated [Word Spirit].

Songx Shiyi had warned not to stay in the Crossover Zone for too long, lest one become lost. This was the fundamental reason why.

The longer a Wish Spirit whispered in someone’s ear, the more powerful its Word Spirit ability became. It was like a spell that grew infinitely stronger over time; in the end, no one could withstand it.

The [Eternal Wish Corridor] was the Wish Spirit’s trump card.

They used Magic to fulfill a wisher’s desires, causing them to become so immersed that they could never leave.

An ordinary person would find this ability nearly impossible to resist.

However, the Wish Spirits also had their own limitations.

They had no direct combat abilities and had to rely on Word Spirit and Eternal Wish Corridor to lure and disorient outsiders. It was relatively safe as long as one strictly controlled their time in the Crossover Zone and avoided conversation with them.

’It would be best if I could capture one. The intel I could get would be much more complete.’

Just as Luh Yao was pondering this, Songx Shiyi suddenly said, "Found him."

A young man was sitting in the greenbelt up ahead. He looked to be in his twenties, leaning against a writhing cypress tree and muttering to himself. A Wish Spirit sat beside him; from a distance, they looked like two friends sitting and chatting.

Songx Shiyi took out her phone and confirmed the man’s facial features.

"He’s one of the missing."

A Star Ring materialized behind her, from which a strip of white cloth flew out. The cloth instantly wrapped around the young man, encasing him like a Mummy and rendering him immobile.

"Could you please take him out of here to a safe location? I’m going to keep looking around."

Isabel replied, "I’ll stay, you take him out. I’m not familiar with the procedures on the outside."

"Alright. In that case, please wait for me. Give me five minutes."

Songx Shiyi dragged the mummified man along the ground, temporarily heading back outside.

The moment the female prosecutor disappeared, Isabel immediately acted on Luh Yao’s orders.

She first raised the [Skinner’s Statue] in her hand, aiming it at the proselytizing Wish Spirit.

Beastification Ceremony, activate.

Baroye made no attempt to flee or dodge, continuing to use its Word Spirit. However, under the influence of the Skinner’s Statue, the Wish Spirit’s passionate, rapid voice gradually became slow and sluggish.

’It’s working.’

Luh Yao’s spirits lifted.

Then, Isabel took out the [Tearful Amber] with her other hand and chanted, "Old People of the sea floor, forget, and slumber."

Driven by the Spell, the Amber extended countless soft, yellow, syrup-like limbs. It sealed the unresisting Wish Spirit within a pale yellow solid, then shrank and returned to Isabel’s hand.

Capture successful!

’Loot acquired.’

No sooner had Baroye been taken care of, another Wish Spirit crawled out from a crack in the ground.

"Hello, beautiful miss. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cynthia, and it is my great honor to serve you. Do you have any wishes?"

Luh Yao finally breathed a sigh of relief.

’Just as I thought. The Wish Spirits are all competing for clients. The moment a spot opens up, it’s immediately filled. They don’t care at all about one of their own disappearing.’

Ten minutes later, Songx Shiyi returned.

She looked apologetic. "That man ran into some complications. He was constantly vomiting, and blood was seeping from his mouth and nose... I performed some basic first aid and ran a check, so I got delayed. Mingzai is watching him now; they’re still waiting for the ambulance."

Isabel nodded. "It’s fine."
