Reborn as a Wolfkin

Vol 3. Ch 40. Demi-gods’ Enemy

“Little wolf, what's your name?” This elven lady asked me.

“Y-Yukina…” I replied while I felt my rear end hit the table. W-Who is this?

“Nice name… Miss Yukina. How are you liking Ard?” She looked more terrifying with the smile she held… It made me genuinely shiver the longer she held it.

Eh-?

I could feel my head get lighter— Why am I seeing myself?

I was floating above my body. I can see my body— I knew I wasn't dead… but I was definitely away from my body; it felt like I died.

“Lori, should you use yer power? You already made that agreement.” The dwarf asked… as he looked at my body. “It could ruin the future you wan’ to avoid.”

“Stark, I told you what she is. Believe me, this is the least riskiest path we can take.”

“I'd believe you if you took normal workaroun's….” The dwarf— shrugged and looked away. “I don't sen'e any malicious intent from this chil'.”

Who are they? Why are talking about me as if I was about to do something?! I couldn't get back to my body, my body kept hitting an invisible barrier.

“Stark… Fine…” The elven lady sighed and I felt my body get suctioned back to my body. It was like those weird spiritual healers that you watch in movies or like that one movie where a doctor got hit out of his body by a bald lady– “Miss Yukina, how did you join the Gabri family?”

I can't get anywhere- My hands were already caressing the fresh table cloth I laid down. What are they trying to do?

This lady's eyes were soul piercing, as if they were staring right through me. It felt like I was laid naked in front of her.

“J-James adopted me into the family…”

“And how did that happen? Tell me more please.” This lady leaned in and tilted her head. She glared only into my good eye. “You don't simply get adopted into Gabri's house. Medea must approve of it. She’s extremely hard to please. I know that for a fact.”

“That's..- That's how it happened.”

This lady's horrifying- No, horrifying was putting it lightly. She was a walking talking nightmare!

“Uh-huh-”

“Lori, thi’ girl isn’ lying. Y’gettin’ nowhere.”

“I know. My last question, Yukina…” She grabbed my chin, and stared into my soul. “What are your goals? What do you plan with the nation of Ard?”

“E-Eh?”

Does she think I'm that dangerous?! I couldn't help but clamp my mouth shut. I'm terrified! What does this lady-

“I know what you are. The fenrir, right? The legendary wolf. You don't need to answer, as I know what you are from your eye color, hair, and that stench you give off. And someone already told me who you are anyways.”

“...”

“Answer this, what are your plans with the nation of Ard?”

“I-I don't plan on—”

An agonizing pain entered my mouth.

“Wrong answer. You lied.”

I really don't have any plans‐

“Lori, leave i’ alone.”

“Stark. Fenrir, tell me from that brain of yours what it is.”

“Do ya wan'a get on Fre'eric's bad side?” This guy casually mentioned my dad's name. At the mere uttering of his name, this lady went silent. He continued a second later… “Shen also mentioned ‘er. And she was in no’ good mood. She told ya to not mess with ‘er.”

“Stark. It's a fenrir… Get that through your head! Even if we were warned, it's still dangerous to let roam freely!”

Yet I'm not even dangerous! I can barely catch up with normal people! I wanted to cry out but I'm frozen in place.

“Lori’ give up. On. It.” Stark emphasized his words. He sounded like a father scolding a child.

Just let me go already!

Haah… if I wasn't busy at this moment, I'd have sent Frederic…

My body froze even more.

S-Shen, do you know them?!

Unfortunately, I do. That dwarf is Stark, the demi-god of smithing. The anvil marks are self explanatory. Lorraine, that silver haired elf is the demi-god of knowledge. She used her powers on you to keep you still… you should be able to move now.

They're those?!

Mhhhm… Just show your bite mark, they'll let you go.

Under- understood. With all the strength in my body, I moved my head to the side to show off the dark circles on my neck. On the side I hoped they'd see them. And surely… They know what Shen's fang marks look like.

Instantly Stark raised his hand and pointed at me.

“And there’ ya’ go. Shen's mark.”

In the next moment Lorraine clicked her tongue, crossed her arms and turned away. She knew full well… not to mess with Shen's students. I survived… that was the important part.

Stark walked past her, and raised his hand. “S'rry about tha’. I'm stark, and please don’ hol’ it against Lori. She knows what needs to be done.”

“H-Hello… I'm… Y-Yukina.” I shook his hand and my heart was pounding.

“Keep workin- hard Lil girl.”

With that… Stark turned around and set his hand on Lorraine's back. They began to walk away in silence, leaving me alone with everyone staring in my direction.

And she says she's the demi-god of knowledge… What an idiot.

Shen sounded really annoyed, not as severe as she was with Noa. Alongside that she sounded tired.

Does she know she can't use that spell?! It's immensely dangerous and against the damn rules Frederic put! Ugh!

Can you elaborate?

I said way too much. Catch you later.

I felt my mouth scrunch up. Too much for my brain to work… Welp… time to get to work and ignore my surroundings once again… This time with little old Allisa.

It helped with her there, she began to set glasses and flowers around. On my side I kept up with the cloths. By the time the last table was done, my back was feeling bad.

I'd try to move but it kept me from turning, and my head was feeling foggy. Took a few hours… but at least it looked good, huh?

I marveled at this sight, seeing at least ten or so tables lined in order. The guys were done. There were banners with the signs of each nation were strewn evenly on each side.

Maybe the banquet will run good, aside from those two demi-gods… Mainly Lorraine, she sounds like the most trouble.
