Chapter Ten: Demoness and Killing, part three (137)
…
Calvaria sighed as she sat on the piece of broken stone. She hung her head, as one does so she thought back to what had happened. She sighed, the fight had gone well enough. About half an hour through, Demiurge had said that the army was defeated, and that they better leave or else he may die.
It was this whole big thing, Remedios had to be content with the army dead, she wasn’t. She was just as pissy as before. Calvaria had stood there as the woman ranted at her, all the while her friends failed to stop her. She was very tempted to just leave.
This was meant to be more of a fun adventure to spend some time in her Calvaria personna. It wasn’t. Though, to be fair to the others, she hadn’t realized how much damage Demiurge had done to the Holy Kingdom.
All in all, she felt fully chewed out, but not really bad. She, as she sat on the broken stone she was using as a seat, was thinking about the two girls. How were they doing? What were they doing? While she wasn’t worried for Shizu at all, Neia was much weaker than the girl. She hoped she hadn’t died in the fighting.
…
“Shizu stop putting stickers on my face,” Neia said weakly as the 12th sticker latched next to the hollow of her throat.
“How else is everyone supposed to know how cute you are?” Shizu asked in all seriousness.
“I don’t know. Those stickers are getting itchy though…” Neia mumbled off, and Shizu stopped her hand, which was going into the black hole thing that she called her inventory.
“Oh, Alright I’ll stop,” was all she said as she pulled her had back, walked froward, and grabbed Neia’s hand in her own.
Neia blinked at this, slightly confused. That was until Shizu put a finger to her ear, and spoke. Her tone was normal, save for a slight tilt upwards in her voice. It was excitement, she was excited.
“Lady Calvaria, may I use my off hours now?” she asked over the message spell, and Neia blinked at the reminder of their date.
After what felt like half-an-hour, Shizu nodded her head, and pulled her finger back. Neia was slightly jittery, her nerves getting in the way of the joy that came with simply spending time with her best friend. Neia took a step back in her head at the realization of her best friend being a non-human, while she herself was a citizen of the Roble Holy Kingdom.
“Neia, where’s a good place to eat in this city? Or do you just want to walk around and eat some sweets I have in my inventory?” she asked, and Neia’s mind thought back to all the times she had been in this city.
It was once. When she was a child, she had been here. There was really nothing she could think of to do here, save for maybe meeting with the slime-like race that lived in this city's sewers.
“Yeah, we can just go take a walk around the city and eat sweets. I don’t know any good places to eat,” she told Shizu, and her date nodded her head, and pulled something from her inventory.
…
The sun had set, and Neia and Shizu had made their way back to the manor at the center of the city. The day had been a good one, with the two of them being thanked and given things by the people of the city that had seen them. It was a rather strange thing for her, to suddenly be so famous.
The two of them made their ways to the rooms that they had been given, and had been told was their rooms. They hadn’t actually been to the two of them, so when they decided to check out the rooms together, simply to see, Neia’s eyes wander across the room all the way to the bed.
It was as her eyes locked onto Shizu’s bed, as that was the first thing that she saw in the room, she only just noticed how tired she was. Sure, she had been fighting the whole of the day, and part of the night. Yet, her body had seemingly decided that it didn’t need sleep until it saw something comfortable to sleep on.
This bed, with it thick blankets, was just that. Each fold looked inviting. The white sheet on top made her body loosen. She was tired, she wanted to sleep. Subconsciously, she walked over to the bed, it was only large enough for a person and a half, and plopped down on top.
“Sleeping together on the first date?” She could barely hear Shizu speak, “Neia, you are brave. It’s cute.”
Her mind, barely holding onto wakefulness only because of the words spoken, moved her eyes over to see her date, and her best friend, Shizu the battle maid, strip off her clothes and place them in her inventory.
Something in her mind leaned forward and watched eagerly as the girl did so. Her mind holding on as another thread of her alert mind was grabbed, and held on. Neia was barely awake to respond to her environment. She decided that wearing her old clothes that had been cleaned, yet not thoroughly enough to get out all the grime, was a bad thing to fall asleep in.
She got up, took her clothes off, and then tossed them to the side. Shizu did her duty as a friend and as a maid, and put the clothes away in a hamper on the other side of the room. The room had a window on the right side of the wall, across from the bed wall.
The moonlight shone in through the window and cast a silhouette on Shizu. Just as Neia was laying her head down on the pillow, her mind’s eye captured the memory of Shizu naked, with her whole body on display and the largest smile that her face could make growing.
She fell asleep, and Shizu wordlessly climbed into bed. She wasn’t tired. She could have gone back to guarding Lady Calvaria. Yet, Her Goddess had given her the night off, she might as well spend it with the woman she was growing to care for.
“Goodnight Neia,” was all she said and cuddled up against her warm body.
