The Grand Catastrophe

Chapter Three: Mildly Annoying Nations, part two (112)

Shalltear watched as her lady went off to her room. She sighed, and looked down at her notes. She wrote down everything that her lady had done. She wrote down everything that her lady had said. It had taken a lot of focus, and constantly watching her.

Shalltear sighed as she looked down at her notes. They weren’t, or at least hadn’t, proven to be all that useful. Most of them were just about how Lady Momonga moved about in her day-to-day life. It had been a bit of a useless endeavor.

As she looked down at her notes, she heard Aura walk over to her and ask her something. She still looked at her notes, even as she responded. She still had to write in them, after all.

“Hey, what room do you want? The left or the right one?” she asked, and Shalltear responded dismissively.

“Take whichever, you’re my superior in this venture,” she said in response.

Aura just looked at her. She really looked at her. Shalltear blinked and looked down at the other girl, and tilted her head. Aura seemed annoyed at her for whatever the reason. Though, she didn’t know why.

“What are you doing?” Aura asked, and Shalltear frowned as she explained what she was doing.

“I failed in the past, so I'm learning from Lady Momonga and taking notes. I’m leaving nothing out,” she said, and Aura looked over her shoulder at her notes and winced.

They weren’t all that good. The words were close together. The page was packed full to the brim. It was not only hard to read, but it was mostly useless. Shalltear winced at the look that the dark elf was giving her. She then huffed, and scowled at the girl in turn. She didn’t have to take that look!

“What is that look for? I’m only taking the notes of all the things that might be important,” she defended hotly, but weakly.

Aura shook her head, like the twerp she was. Shalltear huffed, letting all the hot feelings that had boiled just now steam out, and it left her. It was one thing to get worked up, but it was another to pretend, and actually get worked up, like how she usually got worked up.

“What am I doing wrong?” she ranted out, just a tad bit, and Aura shook her head.

“You’re taking too many notes. Just take the notes about the stuff that she actually states that we actually need to learn. That way, it’ll actually make sense. This stuff is mostly useless,” she explained, and Shalltear hummed.

“How else am I supposed to make it up to Lady Momonga for failing her?” Shalltear retorted, and Aura just shook her head, and explained something some more.

“She doesn’t care about that. All she cares about is that you learn. I heard that from herself when we started off on this whole thing,” she told the vampire, and the floor guardian tilted her head, more confused for when that had exactly happened as the Author forgot to put that in.

“So get rid of the notes?” Shalltear asked instead.

Aura just shook her head, and took the leftmost room. Shalltear still stood there, thinking over the elf’s words. She took a breath, and asked again.

“So I keep the notes?” she asked Aura who had left the space, and was now ignoring her.

“She went where?” Demiurge asked her, and Albedo smiled.

“She went off to the Dwarven Kingdom after she vassalized the Empire,” Albedo explained, and Demiurge blinked in confusion.

It would have taken about a month to actually vassalize the Empire by his measure, and it would have taken too many deaths. Yet, his goddess had done so rather quickly. He must applaud his master. She was truly a supreme being.

“Sasuga Momonga-Sama!” He finally said after a beat or two of silence, then someone not Albedo or Demiurge spoke in the meeting room.

“What are you guys talking about?” Pandora’s Actress asked, holding a cup of cola in one hand.

The two of them slowly turned to the third person, not even realizing that she had been there the whole time. The reason that she was there, was quit the normal one. After all, wanting to make sure that one’s coworkers were happy and hale was rather normal.

“Pandora, what are you doing here?” Demiurge said eventually.

“Making sure that they two of you are alright, and taking breaks as Lady Momonga intended, why? Am I not allowed to do so?” she asked, and Albedo shook her head.
