The Grand Catastrophe

Side Chapter: Reborn Blonde, part two (101)

...

Amalie looked down at her five-year-old daughter. There was something wrong about her, Amalie’s husband and lord didn’t see it, but she did. There was something about her mind and the way that she acted that made her a bit unnerving. She seemingly loved violence.

It may have been her seeing things, but she was fairly certain that her daughter enjoyed watching people beat the crap out of each other. Amalie didn’t know how to feel about this. On one hand, she felt that this was something that she should fix, on the other hand, she was fairly certain time would iron it out.

This was her first and only daughter right now, she didn’t want to do anything drastic. She may want to try and get her into the more lady-like hobbies early though. After all, all of what she did was research fighting techniques and watch her father and his men fight.

Right now, little Leinas was watching her father have a rather nice sparring match with one of his better men, she forgot his name though. Amalie was more of a diplomat than anything else. She was deeper into the talk and chatter of ladies than anything else.

Her little one was hopping up and down on the balls of her feet as she giggling while watching her father spar. It was a routine by this point for her to do so. As soon as she could walk, she watched her father fight. Whenever he was able he indulged her in this.

Amalie didn’t much care for it, but if her husband wanted to, he would have her watch. Little Leinas often times simply watched on in silence, or in chuckles and whoops in equal measure. Albert didn’t see anything wrong with her enrapturement in this hobby, so she would let him indulge her.

...

Leinas watched with wide eyes, capturing this whole exchange in her mind. It was one thing to watch this kind of thing on videos back in her old life, it was another to watch them in real life, right next to the fighting. She had loved this kind of thing in her old life.

Leinas watched on, her mind caught like a deer in headlights as she watched on. Her mother stood behind her, a grimace on her lovely face. That was one thing that she didn’t really understand. Her mother didn’t seem enthused by this entire thing, her love of this kind of fight.

She didn’t really understand why not. After word, after all, her mother got to see her father all sweaty and wet. That was worth something at least. Not that leinas could empathize. She liked girls, always had, always will. She hoped that her father and mother gave her another sibling soon.

That way, she might not have to marry off to a man that she didn’t care for. In fact, if she had to take care of a man, which was easier than one would expect. She was a man in her last life, a man didn’t need much.

She shook her head from those thoughts, and focused back on the match as her father was actually beaten instead of winning. That wasn’t that weird though. He only won about half of his matches. He wasn’t weak, he was simply fighting men that were strong.

She watched as his opponent cleaned his practice spear, his rag wiping off the dirt and such. She watched her father get up and clean himself off as well. Then when they were done, she rushed under the fence that had marked off the training area, and ran up to her father.

He watched her run up with a large smile on his face. He stooped down, and held open his arms as he caught her and scooped her up in a hug. She smiled and placed a hand to his chest plate.

“Father, when are you going to teach me how to fight?” she asked, somewhat curious.

She was well aware of noble expectations. Yet, her father was a militant man. She somewhat expected him to teach her at least a little bit for self defense. After all, this world was rather dangerous. She knew this for certain now, she had remembered it finally, it was the new world from the overlord anime and light novel series.

Thiswas a world of war and hardship. Humans were weak and sniveling animals that were treated like cattle everywhere else. The Empire of course was mostly fine, protected by the Slaine Theocracy as it was.

“Well, little one, why do you want to learn to fight? That's no thing a lady like you should do,” her father said almost teasingly.

She answered right away, her excitement could not be held back. Her answer almost caused him to shiver, for some reason. It was almost like he realized something.

“I want to fight in war. I want to fight like an Adventurer. I want to grow in power and strength. I like power,” she said succinctly.

Her father frowned at that. He seemed rather distraught by her answer. She had an inkling of why, but not truly. She was a strange girl, one that didn’t quite understand others. Maybe she could use this, maybe she couldn’t.

Right now, she was in her father’s arms, smiling up at him as he held her. He pulled his frown from his face. Then, he genuinely thought about it. It was true that she was a lady, she was his firstborn after all.

That meant that she was going to be seen as a lady would, when she made her debut. She also was to be seen, and was rather important to him and to noble society. That meant that she would be in the sights of people whop would do her harm.

He nodded his head after a beat. This was a good idea, that his daughter came up with. She was interested in fighting, at least for now, and she would do well in this. He could feel it.

“Yes, sure little one, I will hire a trainer for you so that you may better learn. I’m not the best teacher, after all. Now, let’s get inside, the sun is hot today,” he said, and she nodded her head enthusiastically.

Her father and her made their way back to the manor soon after, Leinas’s mother frowning at the answer all the way. Leinas herself was having a good time. Why wouldn’t she? She was ready to learn to kill, after all.
